    Thanks Tucker. You have kept my spirits up through a week of illness. My favorite channel. I have always wanted to fly. 14 hrs in a 172 and got sidetracked with child support. Am now 65, retired and 300 pounds and hope to find someone to get me into the air. Thanks again!

      In Canada they might not even let you in the air. I'm not kidding. Never say you not free down there

    • @netook8
      @netook8 8 лет назад

      In Canada you need a class 1, 2 or 4 medical for your license. at your age you would need a medical exam frequently that is if the knee replacement does not fail even the class 4.

    It's more than once now that I've seen you over an airport while trying to make guesses at where the wind's at. Every airport has some tool to show pilots where the wind's at, wind sock, cones, veins, etc. You can also invest in a handheld radio and pick up the weather from the ASOS etc.

    • @TuckerGott
      @TuckerGott  8 лет назад

      I know, I'm a private pilot also. Sometimes its just calm or variable enough I have to decide which way gives me the best approach, even if it's not directly into the wind. I appreciate it man!

    • @TuckerGott
      @TuckerGott  8 лет назад +10

      Generally, yes. You just have to go high enough. A few weeks ago it was still in the 80's at 7pm so we climbed to 6000ft and it felt like air conditioning.

    I fly a Citation X professionally and cruise at Mach .90+ (cool by most standards); however, the reality is we sit at an altitudes that any surface detail isn't distinguishable, surf the Internet or complain about our schedules (difference between pilots and jet engines joke). I can't stop watching your channel!! This sport represents everything that brought me to aviation in the first place.
    I'm trying to stir some interest in the flight department so we can eventually take these on the road. Ever get any feedback or tips for transport (hazmat) - possibly running engine dry and shipping the tank? Would like to see a breakdown of the scout on one of your videos. Awesome channel. Love the wit and humor...

    I see people flying these in Florida all the time, over the past few years their popularity has skyrocketed. I remember one guy was seriously injured and may have died just a mile or two from my job when he flew into a set of power lines, but apart from that I rarely hear of any accidents. It definitely looks a lot safer than riding a motorcycle and way more fun than riding a jet ski.

    Nice discussion....also made it nice you did it while flying....don't forget MacPara for wings and Polini Thor 130s .....nice gear...dependable with plenty of power for my 200lbs.....looks like you have gear that fits you perfectly...good point that people really need to look at all kinds of gear after flying a while to figure out what they really want. Gear really is about as personal a choice as you get....just like choosing 2 stroke oil! Enjoy...fly safe!..good stuff! ;)

    Nice wing overs! Two questions: 1. Is it possible to use weight shifting on the turns with the paramotor harness or you just use breaks? 2. In a day with good thermals can you climb yourself up, turn the motor off and continue just by coring between thermals? Haven't seen any video of you thermalling...

    Another good video. Q. What speed are you doing up there, and, what do you do if you see a light aircraft or a Being 747 coming right at you? It's not like you can shift speed, height or direction that fast is it?? How do you ensure you don't get into someone's path? Also - do paramotorists ever (or often) crash into each other??

    Tucker, love your videos. Keep them coming. Can you recommend a procedure for talking with localities or land owners and getting permission to launch from there? My town (Western NY) has one park that's suitable, a perfectly mowed and flat large area, but I was kicked out by the parks and rec guys before I could even get it fully assembled. They cited 'the safety issue', even though there weren't any other people for hundreds of yards around. How do you know where you're allowed to practice and launch/land at? I'm an ASEL pilot and could launch from the airfield, but that's 45 minutes away and close to the city (Buffalo).

    • @TuckerGott
      @TuckerGott  8 лет назад +2

      That's a tough one. I've been fortunate in that the locals don't seem to mind and enjoy watching me launch. As far as I know, you're allowed to launch from a park unless there is a specific ordinance that doesn't allow flying vehicles. Maybe approach local police to check legality? Bring along a copy of far 103. If there's no local ordinance against it, no one should be able to stop you. However, if locals are very opposed to it, you definitely don't want to create hatred. Best of luck to you.

    Hi , Tucker...
    I'm new on paramotors, I have a trike with a EDEL power atlas wing . a few day ago , i went for a little fly with a 10 mph wind . When the glider inflate behind me , it pull me backward and I gave all the power I got on my motor to compensate . The trike took off but very violent .
    when I landed I realize that the trimmers where all the way down .
    My question is : in windy conditions what is the best trimmers set ?...And at no wind ?
    Thank You ! love your videos ! ....keep flying !!!

    Hey Tucker I love your videos. You make it look so easy almost too easy. I was interested in learning more about this
    sport. My wife will love that I picked up another hobby in the future. I live in Chattanooga, TN and I have seen RC planes flying at Camp Jordan which is a local park in our area, but can’t say I have ever seen a paramotor take off or land there. I am not sure I have seen
    one in this area anywhere to be honest. This is either people are not interested or they are unaware they could do this. I wanted to maybe be the first but legally. I have read and it looks like you are able to fly in most areas with the FAA guidelines in check. Can you do an education flight and advise the real newbies on how to not get on the FAA unwanted list. Maybe explaining the proper process of
    getting approval to launch and land in parks, the airports. Is it as easy as calling up the park and ask, can you call the airport air tower for approval, am I making this harder that it is? Thanks again for the great commentary. You do a great job on your videos and seem
    like someone that would be a blast to fly with. Started watching when I came across your famous Mc Donald’s trip. I was hooked after that. Thanks again, and I hope you many more safe adventures.

(It's currently in shipment) I won't name the instructor but he is very reputable and has a wide range of experience as an actual pilot for 20+ years. He mentioned to me that you shouldn't fly over freeways or roads, or neighborhoods if you can help it. I see that you are flying over all kinds of things including freeways, neighborhoods, and private property. Can you shed some light on this?

      I think it's because you need a safe place to land if your engine shuts off. Only fly over areas where it has safe areas to land. Which is why it is unsafe to fly really close to water.

      No freeways, roads, neighborhoods, private property? LOL, that's a pretty small flight path.

      Mango flying over water? What’s the glide ratio of an average wing IF YOUR ENGINE shut down? I live on an island with many surrounding islands. How high would one need to fly to say glide 1 mile? Thanks from a potential nubi

    So, I know you said you are not an instructor, but I'm definitely curious if you would consider being a private instructor. As opposed to taking a training course, I find one on one training more personal and just as efficient. I have the money to buy one, but it'd be nice to know I could meet with someone who is experienced, and basically begin flying.

    What are your thoughts on reserve parachutes? I see a lot of pilots without them. I also see a lot of low level flying where a reserve might not have time to open.

    You Americans may complain about the president. but at least you can fly that w/o a license. In Canada a license if required including legal training. Now I've been known to win most learning challenges, but my body is my weakest link. I currently have a mild case of Asthma(it is not acute so it may not even matter). The Ridiculous Requirements of Canada -Complete 30 solo flights
    -5 hrs of flight time under instructor supervision
    -Pass the ULTRA Transport Canada examination with at least 60%
    -Medical class 1,3 or 4
    -Get a letter of recommendation from your instructor So in a nut shell, probably won't be getting into that kind of thing, with all the paperwork and red tape. In fact there is less hassle owning a gun. The course load is less than a 3rd of the price and the permit costs next to nothing. Still blows me away. Regulation cuts deep. Merica needs no Ultralight license, truly the land of the free

      Not many people are complaining about Trump he is actually saving this country. And if you live in Canada and you don't like the government controlling everything you do with your life then stop voting for liberals.

      Everyone who is a rational thinking person in the US complains about Trump. You honestly think some law about powered paragliding is a significant reason to judge well-being in a country? BTW 'USARealMan', conservatives are the ones who want to regulate things. (birth control, who you marry, abortion, what video games you can play, what religion you can worship, where and what alcohol you can buy, ect..)

    Hey Tuck (typing the "er" was going to take just too much effort). I'm a private pilot who's giving this some real thought. I'm learning vicariously through you and decided to watch your vids in order. Got this far and as soon as I heard to mention analytics & subscribing...I paused the vid & did. Anywho, I'm going to keep watching now. By the way, what's the ICAO of the field that you fly out of?

    Hey Tucker, I'm just getting my P2. Paramotor surely interests me as well. I'm curious about the harness for paramotor, is this typically sold and matched to the engine? or matched to the rider like PG?

    hey tucker, i been watching ur videos i just discovered you recently. i am thoroughly interested in this hobby/sport? but it seems amazing to me... i was pricing out some equipment and see that i need to start saving to get what i need.
    but i have an idea for yo, which u probably aleady thought about. i live in nj, and so does many other ppl that yo may have inspired to get involved with paramotors. i know we would rather have you as a trainer than some random poerson. u know what ur doing and u can probably start a small business for urself teaching ppl paramotors. i know i would def pay for your instruction... hopefllyt u decide to do it becase im going to start saving up possibly by next spring i should have enough $ to get started. it is pretty expensive stuff. i cant wait to get started and learn how to fly it. how amazing it will be to glide around. thinking about the fact that i would bring it everywhere with me and fly all over
