SOS is the song that introduced Dimash to the world and opened many great opportunities and collaborations for him. This song comes from the famous 1978 Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania', which is well known in French-speaking countries, and is a pretty difficult song to sing. In 2017 Dimash received a wild card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant ever at 22 years old and the first non-Chinese. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. And this in all the different registers . His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of daily hard training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 15 or 16 languages so far). Yes, Slaviansky Bazaar happens in Belarus, regional competition, Dimash won the Grand Prix in 2015, and this was 2018 where he was invited back as a guest performer. That was the president of Belarus. Dimash rose to international fame in 2017 when he participated in a competition for professional singers in China. Since 2017-2018 to these days, he`s had concerts in many countries, including USA, Germany, Ukraine, Türkiye, Malaysia etc. He can sing in ~5 octaves and hit notes in 7 octaves. He has performed songs in 12-13 languages. In his current world tour, he sings in 7 languages in his concerts (english, kazakh, italian, french, chinese, spanish, russian). That was a performance by a young Dimash. He was just finding his baritone voice at that time. Since then, his vocal range has expanded. Both ways. Wait until you hear his lower register. It's a rich and full as his chest voice, and just as spectacular as his head voice and whistle tones. The best song I can think of to display his vocal range is The Story of One Sky, although Drunken Concubine displays bass growl and D8 whistle tone. You read that right... D8. Just to set you straight on a few points. This is in Belarus. He is from Kazakhstan and they speak Kazakh but here he is singing in French and speaking Russian. That wasn't his family either, just some of the fans from Dimash's worldwide fanbase. At his last concert in his homeland people came from 68 countries to hear him sing. There are almost 200 videos on his RUclips channel.

And I’m 78. Dimash composes, plays instruments dances, chats to the audience, but also , directs, models, etc. and is humble kind, respectful and very much the humanitarian, using his voice for good. I love love love Dimash 😊 I wondered for a long time why the audience collectively didn't give a standing ovation. Just my thoughts. I was and am mesmerised by his beautiful voice the first time I heard this video and I was filled with wonder and amazement at what I felt was perfection in his delivery. I feel Dimash takes you on his journey with him at a soul level. I did not physically respond, I sat there with my whole body, mind and heart still captivated. Also the first time I saw this video I did not notice the audience did not stand with wild clapping and encouraging vocal gratitude. I put this down to how I felt except with the one difference that they were in his presence. I thought if I was affected by silence bathed in his incredible voice and ability to connect emotionally what must it have been like to witness Dimash. That's what I put it down to. I have never had a bucket list but now my only bucket list is to see Dimash live 😊 I love that you clapped and said Bravo. I think the word Bravo is the highest compliment 😊

SOS is the song that introduced Dimash to the world and opened many great opportunities and collaborations for him. There are a number of versions of Dimash singing this song, each different but all great. This song comes from the famous 1978 Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania', which is well known in French-speaking countries, and is a pretty difficult song to sing. In 2017 Dimash received a wild card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant ever at 22 years old and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part in this competition. Although well-known and respected in his homeland Kazakhstan, nobody in China knew or heard about Dimash before, but with his first song, SOS, Dimash shocked the audience and captured the hearts of over 600 million of viewers overnight, and the rest is history as the saying goes.
BTW, the person in the close-up you wondered about is Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus. The MC and Dimash speak Russian, the common language of all of the former Soviet states. People in Kazakhstan generally speak both Russian and Kazakh.

Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. And this in all the different registers . His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of daily hard training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 15 or 16 languages so far).
He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how.
Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. Sometimes he also can be a little bit goofy, and I love it❤️. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this.
His concert in September 23, 2022 was in his hometown Almaty, it was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong.
He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills.
He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. The musicians who accompany him are called A-Studio. It's a Kazakh band that wrote this song in 1998. However, Dimash sang it differently. And in my opinion much better 😄.
The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
If possible, always watch the videos to the end. Very often there are interesting things to learn. Either there’s something to laugh about, or he’s talking to his audience. He always thanks his musicians. He is incredibly humble and never acts like a star. When he is praised, he constantly says that it is thanks to his teachers and his parents, who made it all possible for him. He’s just incredible.

Yes, Slaviansky Bazaar happens in Belarus, regional competition, Dimash won the Grand Prix in 2015, and this was 2018 where he was invited back as a guest performer. That was the president of Belarus. Dimash rose to international fame in 2017 when he participated in a competition for professional singers in China. Since 2017-2018 to these days, he`s had concerts in many countries, including USA, Germany, Ukraine, Türkiye, Malaysia etc. He can sing in ~5 octaves and hit notes in 7 octaves. He has performed songs in 12-13 languages. In his current world tour, he sings in 7 languages in his concerts (english, kazakh, italian, french, chinese, spanish, russian). That was a performance by a young Dimash. He was just finding his baritone voice at that time. Since then, his vocal range has expanded. Both ways. Wait until you hear his lower register. It's a rich and full as his chest voice, and just as spectacular as his head voice and whistle tones. The best song I can think of to display his vocal range is The Story of One Sky, although Drunken Concubine displays bass growl and D8 whistle tone. You read that right... D8. Dimash was the winner in 2015. Here he is a guest singer in 2018. He was a judge in the last concert before the war broke out. Welcome to the rabbit-hole of Dimash. I was at his latest concert 4 weeks ago in Malaysia. People from 41 countries there!
Not only in the former member countries of the USSR, but in absolutely all the former communist countries in Eastern Europe, people were educated in school from a young age to go to symphony concerts, the opera and the theater, they were taught exactly how the English lords were educated in the past centuries to applaud at the end, not to interrupt the soloists, to listen quietly to hear all the nuances of the interpretation in order to react in full understanding and empathy with the feelings of the interpreter! I am now a mathematician and computer scientist for 70 years, but I know all the great composers of the past and I can taste symphonic music, opera, operetta, but also light music, let's say starting with the Beatles, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Queen, Abba and up to those of today such as Lady Gaga. This is in Belarus. He is from Kazakhstan and they speak Kazakh but here he is singing in French and speaking Russian.
That wasn't his family either, just some of the fans from Dimash's worldwide fanbase.
At his last concert in his homeland people came from 68 countries to hear him sing.

Dimash sings in 15 languages, many genres, even a bit od Kazakh rap. I’m besotted with him. Travelled from U.K. to three different countries for the chance to see his three and a half hour concerts. And I’m 78. Dimash composes, plays instruments dances, chats to the audience, but also , directs, models, etc. and is humble kind, respectful and very much the humanitarian, using his voice for good. Try Stranger from New Wave 2021. It’s in English and epic.

I wondered for a long time why the audience collectively didn't give a standing ovation.
Just my thoughts.
I was and am mesmerised by his beautiful voice the first time I heard this video and I was filled with wonder and amazement at what I felt was perfection in his delivery.
I feel Dimash takes you on his journey with him at a soul level.
I did not physically respond, I sat there with my whole body, mind and heart still captivated.
Also the first time I saw this video I did not notice the audience did not stand with wild clapping and encouraging vocal gratitude.
I put this down to how I felt except with the one difference that they were in his presence.
I thought if I was affected by silence bathed in his incredible voice and ability to connect emotionally what must it have been like to witness Dimash.
That's what I put it down to.
I have never had a bucket list but now my only bucket list is to see Dimash live 😊
