He was a wild card contestant from Kazakhstan, the only non-Chinese is the competition. All competitors are professionals. He was only 22 at the time, the youngest in the competition, and not expected to stay long, but ended up in 2nd place. Lots more to discover from him. He's only gotten better since then. His Grandmother took the little boy to learn how to sing when he was just five years old. He learned quickly and as he grew older, he learned to play instruments as well, like the piano and the dombra. As the years passed, he sang very well and became well known and loved in his country. I've listened to every song (except country) ever written and sung by the best singers ever for over eighty years.. and I can honestly say "SOS" by Dimash Qudaibergen is my all time favorite. The song "SOS" is from the Canadian-French cyberpunk rock opera "Starmania" written in 1976 with music by Michel Berger and book and lyrics by Luc Plamondon.. sung by Dimash in French. The song reflects feelings of despair and being depressed with life and refers to the singer wanting to be a bird to see the world from above. Some believe that the lyrics at the end, "Sleep child.. sleep," refer to 'ending it all.'

This is from 2017 'I Am Singer' show in China. All contestants were well known Chinese singers except Dimash. He was brought in as a 'wild card' contestant. He is from Kazakhstan and yes this is a French song. This was the 1st performance of the show and brought him world wide fame and fans (called 'Dears'). His name is pronounced 'De Mosh' (as in mosh pit). Dimash sings in over 14 languages, he has a 7+ octave range and sings in multiple genres. He has improved since this performance. He is now 30 yrs old. He has a huge catalog, he has super high movie quality music videos, he has multiple duets and a trio performance. You will be shocked and amazed at every performance and much will bring goosebumps and tears (even if you listen over and over again.) He is highly trained. He has been performing, training, studying music and voice since he was 3 yrs. old. He is the best singer/vocalist on the planet. I remember in 2019 I went to hear Dimash live in New York. And even though I followed him since 2017 I was shocked hearing him live. Sat with my mouth open for three hours.

This is from seven years ago. It's a Chinese competition called I Am Singer. U can only enter it by an invitation. Just well known singers are invited. Dimash was invited as a black card. Nobody heard about him and he was not expected to last more than one round (the competition has around 14 rounds, I think 🤔). He ended up second, because he was not Chinese. The rules did not allow a foreigner to win at that time.

Dimash is a 30-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world.
He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly anyway, but it does happen sometimes😅). However, if you include the notes he has sung live in his concerts so far, you get almost 8 octaves (7.7 from vocal fry C1 (B0) to the whistle register D8; this note is no longer on the piano). At least that's what he's shown us so far. And this in all registers (chest, mixed and head voice up to the whistle register). The transitions from one register to the other are so fluid that they are sometimes not recognized even by vocal coaches or professional singers.
His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of hard daily training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads, RnB and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 15 languages. And at his concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on September 23, 2022 he sang in 7 languages in one concert!
He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how.
Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. At his concerts he tells the audience that he has given concerts in many countries and repeatedly emphasizes that he loves everyone in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this.
His concert in September 23, 2022 was in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, that you've seen the best and that it's impossible for it to get any better, you realize you're so wrong.
He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills.
He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He is constantly his biggest competitior to get better and better. He is a real perfectionist. He's a singer you can't put in any box.
He sings almost every genre there is and likes to try new things. You can't compare him to any other singer on this planet. He has so many different music genres and styles. He loves Freddie Mercury, but also Michael Jackson, Lara Fabian, Luciano Pavarotti and Eminem and you can also hear that one or the other has an influence on some of his songs.
Every time you watch a new video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing and always a little different. Not only can he sing perfectly and his performances are outstanding he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄.
SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione.
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.
I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 21 so I can imagine…). The other competitiors might not have taken Dimash seriously at first because of his age and that they didn’t know him but that quickly changed after the performance of SOS, as you can see. Through his honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today.

Here he sings in a competition for young musicians, called New Wave in Sochi, Russia. He was there in 2018 as a guest.
The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
If possible, always watch the videos from start to finish. Very often there are interesting things to learn. Either there’s something to laugh about, or he’s talking to his audience. He always thanks his musicians. He is incredibly humble and never acts like a star. When he is praised, he constantly says that it is thanks to his teachers and his parents, who made it all possible for him. He’s just incredible.

I have been following Dimash since 2016. This song is like dipping your toes into the ocean that is Dimash ! I would go to SINFUL PASSION next. Be sure to turn on your subtitles. It’s a competition for famous Chinese singers. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner (he’s from Kazakhstan) and the youngest contestant ever to take part, as a wild card, when someone dropped out. This is the first time China heard him sing! He was 22 here, he’s now 30 and so much better today! This performance was downloaded 600 million times in China that evening. Dimash woke up to bodyguards the next morning. Dimash is famous all over the world, regularly playing to crowds of 40,000 plus in his solo concerts, which last around 4 hours!
He is THE greatest vocalist of ALL time! His own compositions are incredible!

I’ve listened to this performance so many times and I still get the goosebumps even though I already know what’s coming. I believe he has some kind of unexplainable tone to his voice that causes that other than just phenomenal singing. Even when he is singing straight and un-embellished I still get them.
Dimash has come such a long way since this performance 8 years ago. These days he sells out stadiums and arenas worldwide with his spectacular four-hour concerts in which he mixes every known genre of music into fabulous creative musical masterpieces. Fans worldwide of every age make challenging trips to see Dimash in places like Moscow, Dubai, London, New York, the Czech Republic, Germany, Turkey, Hong Kong, Malaysia, most of the former Russian republics and all over China and Kazakhstan. There isn't another singer like him on the planet and I doubt there ever will be.

I follow Dimash since 2019, everyday must play his music, I am addicted to his voice, just attend his concerts 13th and 14th September, I fly from New Zealand to Kazakhstan, his new song "Fire", up to now still stick in my ears, and live one is really powerful, wish I can attend more of his concerts.

Yes, it is a French song, a 4,5 octave French song, and this was LIVE TV, Chinese National TV show "Voice", where the best of the best of most famous musicians performe, broadcasted to 1Bn audience... He was "the wild card" foreign singer (He's Kazakh), and this was the first performance of the first episode... No stress LOL
This wasn't like "The voice", but a contest for professional well known singers, who can only participate by special invitation, Chinese or Chinese speaking. He was the youngest and the only one not from a Chinese speaking country. Nobody knew him there and he amazed the hell out of them.

This was from a 2017 episode of "I Am Singer", a talent show in China, which is kind of like China's equivalent of "The Voice" over there. The main difference is that the only people who can be on the show have to be professional singers. Dimash is from Kazakhstan and didn't have a contract in China, but they were so impressed with him they wanted him to perform. They scrambled and got him a contract right before the show started. On this show, whether or not you make it through the round depends on audience vote. He not only made it through the first round after this performance, he picked up over 600M followers on Instagram overnight. He went to bed and woke up the next morning with a body guard and transportation from the hotel. LOL
I'm sad to report he only took 2nd on the show. It would turn out that Chinese rules stipulated that only a Chinese national could win. But he worked out OK for him. He has 2.5M followers on RUclips.
How you proceed from here depends on how you want to experience him. You can go through all of the "I Am Singer" episodes, and they are all phenomenal, but they tend to have issues with copyright strikes. It really doesn't matter which way you go, every performance of his is mind blowing. As soon as you think you know what Dimash will do, he surprises you. The only thing I would recommend is to stay away from the "World's Best" episodes. They are cut way short and ended up being kind of a mess as he bowed out after finding out he would be competing against kids.
BTW, one name you'll start to run into with Dimash is Igor Krutoy. He's a Russian composer who worked with Lara Fabian and came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash after watching him perform live. You can see him in the audience at the end of "Sinful Passion".

Hes a highly qualified musician be it voice or instrumentals. He writes lyrics, holds Master Degree in Comosition and other Degrees of a whoke variety of genres. He aldo holds Masters Degree . Wether he perfotms one of his own compositions or works of others he always make jt his own.

SOS is part of the French/Canadian musical/rock opera Starmania. The hero finds his girlfriend dead and sings this song over her dead body. The last words are a goodbye cry: 'Sleep now baby, sleep...'.

This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer).
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

He messed up the lyrics a bit, but the tempo and phrasing of that version were best suited to the contents of the song and it was also 100% live.
Dimash is a singer from Kazakhstan with an almost 7 octave range. Besides having an enormous vocal range, Dimash also sings in multiple languages, in multiple styles and is a multi instrumentalist.
