I cannot stress how important a design wall is and yours is awesome. In June I made a throw size quilt using a patriotic themed jellyroll. I arranged my blocks on the design wall, stood back and immediately noticed the secondary pattern was a swastika. Thank goodness I did not skip the step of using my design wall otherwise the quilt would have been a disaster. Quilt blocks are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.
I want to thank you and your wife for creating the quilting Marine. I’m a Persian Gulf Veteran and MST survivor. My daughter, son, and I started making quilts 3 years ago after my son’s 19 month old daughter was murdered. It’s been a life saver. I hope to meet you guys one day soon. Thanks again.
How immensely tragic for you all. That poor little one. My deepest and most sincere sympathy to you and as an Aussie Army widow and mother may I say..Thank you for your selfless service to your country.
Your method makes more sense to the way I discovered how to quilt because it works out in the end. Trying to follow some of these truly “expert channels” doesn’t work because my lines aren’t straight and I’m frustrated because I never can figure out why, so I stopped trying. I have ptsd/anxiety and figured out it was the way my brain processes everything differently. I will have to try again after watching you.Quilting/sewing/and other similar crafting is calming for me, aside from reading.
Thank you Mark and Yvonne for creating this channel. It inspires me, and so many others! I shared it with my boyfriend, his two youngest sons are Marines, one served in Iraq, one in Afghanistan, both honorably discharged. He makes beautiful quilts too, even designs.
I’m 57 and been quilting for 37 years. I wish you were around in my younger years. I hope the people learning pay attention! Will save them a lot of time and grief
I am a fairly new quilter. I found your videos after I finished my first quilt. I got so frustrated it took me 2 yrs to complete it!!! Your tips and the ease and patients of your quilting are so helpful to me. Thank you. Now when I start getting uptight while quilting I find myself repeating your words, "It's only fabric, it's only thread" and I am back to business! Thanks again for posting! Have a great day!!!!
Thanks for sharing. You are a blessing to many. You do a fantastic job explaining for those just starting out. Give your puppies some love. Keep on keeping on. Take care.
I love y'alls videos! I have some hand made quilts from my mamaw (grandma) and my great grandma. I sure do cherish them all. I haven't quilted in many, many years, but you are getting me in the mood to start again. You and your wife are wonderful. so up lifting.

Sort of new to the channel, and new to quilting. I want to learn so I can finish my late grandmothers quilt. It's been a struggle trying to find someone that teaches at a pace I can keep up and in terms I understand and if I don't they answer. Well I have finally found the place, Thanks to The Quilting Marine! I am excited!
I'm rummaging through my fabric trying to figure out what I can use and how much fabric I need for maybe a table runner. You are sewing two 10" squares, from which you get four 6 1/2" (6" when sewn) hst squares, is that right? Math is not my strong point, lol. I think I've just gotta do some and see what I get!
Glad you got a rotating mat. I love mine. Your fabric choice is very pretty. I really like the bubble fabric. I see you turned your design wall into a vision board. I hope you get your Bernia.
I went to Bernina the other day to pick up a sewing machine that was being serviced. Suddenly I remembered your love affair with the Q20 so I had to check it out 🤣
Quilting Marine, Thanks, you and your boss have gotten me hooked. I know where you're coming from. I'm retired Air Force. Now, What is the material you have hanging on the wall that you are sticking the blocks on? Thanks again.
I just drew out my own trip around the world yesterday!! Can’t wait to see yours & mine ☺️ I’m slow & you’ll finish before me probably 😂 I love your fabric choices.
If you do a four square triangle. Where you make four 🔺️ out of one ⬛. The bias is not on the biggest part of the triangle. Easier to be accurate in sewing them together.

Oh my! I just had to subscribe to this! Sempter Fi. Don't quilt but I do fix and use old Singers for upholstery, repairs, etc.

Oooooo, I like that turning cutting board! Gonna be a pretty half square triangle design. I can already tell! Thanks!
Those are beautiful colors together. That's going to be an awesome quilt!
Awesome 👍
I had never seen this method for half squares! So fast and easy and perfect! You guys are amazing! Thank you!
Love your sign!! It’s your wish board :-)
And the felt board is genius!
I love your fabric choices for this one. Excited to see what you end up doing with your HSTs in the end!
I was always taught to iron the seam when it is closed to set the seam before you open it to press it open.
That's amazing, I've never seen triangles made that way, I have to try it. The bubble prints are awesome.

Glad to see you enjoying yourself again! Love the fabrics.
Thank you for the tip “corner to corner” with the stitches. Now I know why mine didn’t match. Lol.
I went to Bernina the other day to pick up a sewing machine that was being serviced. Suddenly I remembered your love affair with the Q20 so I had to check it out 🤣

Shelly come to Tasmania!...no stress!
I love the color and print choices. I hope to make one of these soon.
Hi 👋🏻 say hi to your wife! 🥰 That’s really pretty! Bye!👋🏻
Put it into being about your new sewing machine 🙂
If you square up before ironing open, you have the same accuracy and less cuts.
If you do a four square triangle. Where you make four 🔺️ out of one ⬛. The bias is not on the biggest part of the triangle. Easier to be accurate in sewing them together.
I was wondering about that. Thanks!
Anyone know what's happened to Oliso irons? They seem to be out of stock everywhere (including on Mark's Amazon link)
Can u tell me about your felt wall board?
What is the material on your design wall?
I got a blue Eliso Is that a hint there on your wall for the Bernina ? LOL
I had one of those bracelets during the Vietnam war. He was a MIA. I lost it in the water while swimming. Anyway how do you get one now?
