All three are indeed great vehicles for overlanding. For folk who just want to dwell on such trails, probably a rainforest challenge spec Gypsy will be more effective…but even that can get stuck in deep slush pond. Another day another trail…even the Thar can get stuck. Not impossible to break those front driveshafts… Nothing is infallible. Live the adventure with what you have on hand !

Great video 👍 For people complaining about Gurkha, yes it might have failed on this trail, but it works better than the others on bad roads due to stiffer suspension. You need to decide on how often you are going to go for such trails vs how often you gonna go on bad roads.
@@tanmaysinha9632 because these are extreme trails. There will be many trails which all three of these will make easily through, where xuv700 will get stuck easily. And for many people having that capability to wade out of those tricky situations is important. Xuv is not from this same league.

The spotter should guide the driver calling for steering to the driver side and the passenger side , rather than right and left . Diver side and passenger side with be the same for the driver and the spotter , the driver is right side and passenger if left side

Why your front locks are not working? Edit: Just saw it working somewhere around mid video. Still I would be nervous thinking about its impending faliure on any further trips.
I have been following this off-roading scene in india from last 5 years when only old thar had MLD and only Anshuman Bishnoi sir was posting serious off-roading video, that time I got to know about gurkha . I am mechanical engineer and I am enthusiasts so i have enough knowledge on how these vehicles work and why thar can outperform gurkha, i have said this many time but the problem was that 5 years back this segment was not under that much debate because gurkha was nothing back then, thar was undesputed king because people didn't know about gurkha. New thar made a segment for every off-roading vehicle because of which people got to know about gurkha. But I knew it way before that thar is way better off-road than Gurkha simply because of the engine and suspension. Solid axel at the rear of the thar makes it way more capable even in 4x2.
Thar is better performing here, obviously. Gurkha has own issues, but still does the job. V cross is brilliant too. Overall, you're churning out the best of both Thar and Gurkha.
As a both Gurkha and Thar owner I can say that my use cases for both are different. I admire Gurkha equally well as I do my new and earlier gen Thars for their positives. Similarly, I dislike bad points about these vehicles as well. DC I think it's time you stop sitting on the fence as it's clear that you are pro-Thar and very critical of Gurkha.

Do you know how many people bought this vehicle after seeing reviews which didn’t highlight these shortcomings and just said “it is hardcore” atleast 5 times in the video? I always praised its plus points which I found and shared bad points too. This video is not critical at all, these are just observations. I am just experiencing my vehicle and sharing my thoughts. Same I did with Thar too.

Thar will go on trip now, so can’t abuse that before I come back. These offroad weekends are too harsh on these vehicles. Even Gurkha need some work now.
It’s time DCV should review the new ISUZU D-Max 3.0L as well as the 1.9L which is there in Thailand and other countries(Just like the old days of Bike reviews in Thailand). ISUZU needs some pressure from the Indian consumers as we still get the old generation D-Max.

It is way more comfortable, have lot of space and capable enough for travel on bad sections. Don’t make these dune jumps change your mind if you are never going to do it.

Follow Prashant adventures and you will get to know what is Gurkha capable of. Thar is just a toy for newbies, who don't know what to do on trails and ruts. they just accelerate and rest thar does the job. Not much effort in driving thar.

From a offroader perspective having manual control over everything is beneficial. Mahindra Thar is impractical. Its interior space is really low. Gurkha is more practical. Has more luggage space.

Key point- Power matters when vehicle is in 4H. That time your engine uses all the range which it has.
You don’t need bigger rim, you can put bigger tires on 16 inch rims too which can be 33 inch in size. Bigger the rim, lower the profile of tire, worse it is Offroad. The wheel arches are too small on this vehicle, need lot of work to make it capable to take anything bigger than 30.5 inches.

Tip to every one - when every off-road drive at a constant speed to not over accelerate because due to it the tyre starts to spin and then tyre looses grip

Watch motolgy channel on youtuube. He has a gurkha and does off roading on the dried river rock beads in Chamal, Madhya Pradesh. No river rocks like you saw in the bhabar, terai region in Jim Corbett.

I think Gurkha's height is also problematic, it can turn the vehicle upside down pretty easily

Great stuff. But what i think is you need suspension and bigger tires. Try to disconnect your sway bar so your tire can be on ground.

A bit more power and suspension articulation makes Gurkha killer off roader. As of now it feels underpowered.
