  • Project NA Miata gets an upgraded 4.1 Limited Slip Differential & Energy Suspension Diff Carrier Bushings! I've been eager to install this mod. It completely transforms the driving characteristics of the car and now we can finally get the car sideways! This is the same install / procedure for all NA/NB Mazda Mx5 Miata's from 1990-2005.

    A limited slip diff is one of those mods I think every Miata should have, especially for track use. Comment below if you agree or disagree!

      @xninpo 2 года назад

      Totally agree. I got a 6 speed for 5 months now and still didnt swapped it in, but a torsen i would immediately swap in the miata even if i have a 1.6.. its worth it.

    • @DriveItRyan
      @DriveItRyan  2 года назад +2

      @@xninpo Definitely worth it! Which ratio are you going to do with the 6speed?

    • @xninpo
      @xninpo 2 года назад

      @@DriveItRyan thats a tuff question, i would maybe go for a 4.1 again or a longer ratio, but not shorter for sure. My dream/goal for my miata would be to swap the KLZE engine from the Mazda Xedos, then i def would go for a longer ratio :-)

      @DriveItRyan  2 года назад +1

      @@xninpo that would be sweet and it would keep it all in the Mazda family! Matt loves his 6speed / 3.9 combo, but a 4.1 would be fun too. It’s all personal preference! I’m almost certain I want to put a J32A2 engine in this car. A v6 in a Miata just works!

      ID DIRECTLY SAY DO IT. Im sure u‘d be the coolest guy to drive a V6 Miata because u would share it with the internet and show ppl other opportunitys u know? I def see u doing this because u got the possibilities such as experienced friends helping etc. A Vtec V6 in this black miata = wow..👌🏽

      Thank you! I try to think about what I would like to see / know in a video before I film it. It’s always tough to keep the videos short while covering everything. Thanks again for this man, it made my day!

      Thanks Neil! Those diff bushings smelt like death 😵‍💫 I would not recommend. We do have a burnout problem… can’t argue that one! Lots of lubricants as always 😝

    Hello. Little side note. You want the fluid seal at the inside of the screw holes. Otherwise the oil can leak through the holes. And you can use a lot less😅

    What is the preferable diff ration for the stock 5 speed? The 3.9 or 4.1

    • @henrytoledo4103
      @henrytoledo4103 Год назад +2

      Id say 4.1 to squeeze every last bit of power out of a 100hp car. Ive got a 3.9 for engine longevity and fuel mileage. As an old school muscle car guy a car running at 4k rpms at 80mph is crazy to me. With a 3.9 its around 3,600rpms at 80mph now

    How much force did you need to get the axles in?

    • @DriveItRyan
      @DriveItRyan  2 года назад +1

      A pretty good amount. You’ll feel them clip in. Just make sure you don’t mangle your axle seals too much or you’ll have a leak.
