To think that I was there when history was being made in music... I feel blessed to have been born in 1963. Anyone who were born between 1950s-1970s... We witnessed the golden ages of music 60s, 70s and 80s.
Thank you Some random guy, take care.
Yep!! I was born in 1960. In my opinion, we had the best music as kids in the 60's, teenagers in the 70's, and young adults in the 80's. I wouldn't trade it for anything. 🎶🎶
@@alexacolby5083 Good call, Alexa. I felt music went downhill after the end of 1980 but there were still better songs than the 1990s and the entire 21st century. Born 1959.
I too, was born in 63. There was many things that made the 60s - 80s great.
Music and girls were EVERYTHING to me.
Tha KING of Pop!! 37 weeks no
one even came close RIP MJ
43 weeks in total. MJ Thriller + BAD rule the 80s.
80s music is the best.
These days younger people don't know how important and influential Billy Joel & Phil Collins were in the 70's and 80's. They were huge back then! I'm a bit surprised Aerosmith, Metallica, Tina Turner, Peter Gabriel didn't have #1 albums in the 80's but still happy for my lovely Whitney, Madonna, Bryan Adams, Pat Benatar, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, Janet, MJ, George Michael.
Was you even alive in the 80s?
@@michaelcrawford5083 No, but I feel this decade with passion - by far my favorite era in music and films. I was born in 1991
@@irina1296 fair enough
I guess George Michael was, and is underrated :/
@@MM-ue6ve oh no he was extremely popular. Good artist, songwriter, producer and dancer. He was very generous to several different charities to!
3:10 1983 Thriller-year 37 weeks ... amazing
I just think about all the work of looking for the billboard lists, the albums pictures, the music clips, make the video edition... Amazing work! Thank you so much!
"Thriller" by MJ #1 for 37 weeks....he nailed it! The biggest Superstar of the 80s.
True! I still own it as a vinyl album and CD! One of my MJ's favorite albums!
Thank you for this Some Random Guy.
Michael Jackson : King of the 80's
Madonna: Queen of the 80's
Prince : Prince of the 80's
Whitney Houston: Princess of the 80's
Lionel Richie : Other Prince of the 80's
Huey Lewis: Most successful uncle in pop music
Is it me or the 80s didn't have any bad song at all? I mean how great these tracks are! And they just keep getting better every time I revisit!
and we've never heard these albums before. cannot agree any more
No, we had some bad songs. I can’t think of any off the top of my head though lol. It really was a great time for music!
Well there was the whole Tiffany/Debbie Gibson thing, but I get your point.
Its definitely not just you. They do not make them like they used to. I feel so blessed to grow up in the 80s.
@@mangot589 Liar, the 80s had exactly zero bad songs.
Like a Prayer is a fantastic Madonna album but I still think True Blue (1986) is her greatest record of the 80's.
I cant believe that it was #1 in USA for only 5 weeks! It is a worldwide phenomenon! It was #1 in European charts for 30+ weeks!
@@RVS-fq4wh So true! It's still her best-selling studio album
Sadly, Americans aren't her biggest fans. She have had relevance almost everywhere outside and not in her country.
true blue is amazing
True Blue is ABSOLUTELY her very BEST album ever!!
So many great rock albums. Def Leppard’s Hysteria is my favorite album ever
Amen
Thriller is GOAT
Janet Jackson y Madonna mis favoritas 😍 mujeres que controlaban por completo su carrera😍
I almost forgot about all this fantastic music! Thanks for taking me down memory lane!!💜
It makes my heart so happy to know that the Dirty Dancing soundtrack was #1 for longer than everything else! Such an amazing film with timeless music! :)
These were the soundtrack to my husband and my dating, marriage, and children’s babyhood. Thank you. Brings back a lot of memories. Good times, the 80’s. I have almost all of these albums.
Thanks from germany
JANET *Control - 1986* *Rhythm Nation 1814 - 1989*
Foreigner did it for me 💕..and thriller. and I do love Phil Collins, and tears for fears, oh and Janet, and George, and deff leppard, and tone loc, and new kids and this was awesome
37 weeks at #1......MJ defined pop music.

Unlike today there was a ton of diversity in the different music albums that charted at the top over the decade. A special time not to be repeated.
I know. It’s like they’re all cookie cutters now. With a few exceptions. I do like a (very) few artists now, for that very reason. They’re different. I know everyone says that about the music they grew up with, but if you’ve been listening to/buying music for over 50 years, it’s very true. I’m always willing to listen to new music, but if it sounds just like the last one, well.....
It's not a biased comment from someone who has been buying music for 45 years to observe that (most of) today's music DOES sound like the last release. It's just not the same quality and variety anymore.
@@RobertJohnson-zg6bc That’s still bias. To say “you’ve been buying music for 45 years” doesn’t cut it.
@@arturoromero951 well unless you are 61 or around this age, which I am I can make the distinction between what was then to what is now. Please remember don't take my comments so seriously. This is my opinion and if you think it's biased - deal with it.
Had a bunch of those on vinyl, cassette or both.
Anos 80 a melhor década 😍
Great albums great music
AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME! Thanks Random Guy for another excellent video 👍!!!!!
There are so many great albums here: John Lennon, Pink Floyd, Bob Seger, AC/DC, Rolling Sones, Queen, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Journey, The Go-Go's, Michael Jackson, Prince, Billy Joel, Pat Benatar, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Tears For Fears, Quiet Riot, Bryan Adams, Dire Straits, Bon Jovi, Huey Lewis, Boston, Van Halen (5150), Def Leppard, Guns N' Roses, Steve Winwood, Tracy Chapman, U2, Richard Marx, Mötley Crüe, Phil Collins ("But Seriously"). I have all these albums, which are still strong today.
There were also numerous great albums that managed to reach the US Top 10 albums during this decade (Metallica, R.E.M, Simple Minds, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Bonnie Tyler, Tina Turner, INXS, Europe, ZZ Top, Ozzy Osbourne, Cyndi Lauper, The Clash, Whitesnake....). It's the proof the 80's was a great decade and I'm lucky I had lived this experience.
80s were the last era for good music
My favorite is Like a Prayer and Whitney
And Tug of war by Paul McCartney in 1982. Whith Thriller is one of my favourites. Greetings from Chile.
dont forget peter gabriel
Herzlichen Dank 👍❤
Thank you so much for this amazing 80s billboard No. 1 album video! I really enjoy it! So many memories of the time when I was a kid and a young girl who switched children's songs to a different kind of music from adult pop and disco music! And later on hard rock and heavy metal! My first influencers in music were Madonna, Duran Duran and Michael Jackson 🎼 💫 ..
Such great music back then. I bought many of these and still listen to them in 2021.
Отличная музыка 👍👍👍
I still have Paula Abdul's vinyl of Forever Your Girl, issued in the USSR.
Can't believe its been almost 40 years since I was first listening to these songs. The 80's were a great trip.
80s Lo mejor de lo mejor 👍❤️
Great list Random Guy.
Interesting how long some of these stayed in the charts.
Amazing how many of these I actually own considering it was Billboard charts and I'm
in Australia, so our charts differed somewhat.
Anyway thanks for your hard work.
Fantastici Album...grazie Some Random👋
Thanks for this video! I had many of these on LPs, 45's, and tapes. Those were 10 great years of music!
Lol I guess I couldn't have an album on a 45...
So great song
Please do No.1 UK albums of 80s
Totally agree!! I would be interesting to compare both UK and US album markets!!
And also #1 Australian & Canadian albums if it's possible.
Bought about eighty five percent of them hard to believe it's been that long ago
this was pretty iconic
80s had the best alhums!
It is amazing how many of these I own.
Today is Friday, March 26th, 2021. Amazing list undoubtedly.Especially Madonna. Who"s that girl should've been on this list by the way.
This is compiled from Billboard magazines top 200 charts and who's that girl didn't reach number one on that chart.
The song Who’s That Girl went number 1, but the soundtrack charted at number 7.
I love this, can you do one for UK charts number 1 albums in the 80s
Amo seus vídeos amigo. Desde Brasil
Janet Jackson 💕
9:13 my favorite album of the 80s. I often looked forward to their 2nd album, but sadly there was never a follow up album.
Michael Jackson, the King
Whitney Houston 🥰
Great stuff
Video Request: 100 Musicians who Died before the Age of 60 (Part 2)
I wonder how similar the British album charts were?
As a mastering engineer this is a trip...
Reminds me of when I was younger listening to the Casey Kasem countdown!:) Well done🎶💫
👍👍👍EXCELENTE💗💯💯🎵💗🎶🎶🎶🤩🤩💞💞
I still have quite a lot of these - on VINYL!
love this era of music
I'd like to see you do this for the other decades too
Not worth it after the 90s.
I would have bet Tina Turner's album "Private Dancer" would've been a number one album. Would've lost that bet.
So many ABSOLUTE CLASSICS.
Great video, thanks again 😄🤗
can this be done for the 60s? i checked out the other videos and the farthest they seem to go are the 70s
2:45 Paul ♡♡
And today we must beg for a good song...
Not really. We have a selection of great songs no matter what decade you go to. Every decade is filled with some good and some bad. Have a little respect.
I'm not used to albums staying on #1 for more than 10 weeks. And especially not so many of them.
Synchronicity by The Police taking on MJ and Thriller was a titanic battle. I doubt we will ever see something like that now.
😁😁😁 jooo it was a ride, songs and clips number 1 !!! I adore music 1982-1998 max. Now it's not like before, it's a pity
"Born in the U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen spent something like 16 or 17 consecutive weeks at no. 2 behind "Purple Rain" by Prince (all in 1984) after it hit no. 1.
I love Tug Of War by Paul McCartney in 1982. Love from Chile
Hey dude. Awesome list. Please add Spotify list if possible
3:09Caramba ele ficou tanto tempo assim 😳

Notice how 1984 wasn't a Number One?
Because it Thriller dominated?? Doesn’t matter, Eddie is on Beat it lol
More than 50% i've never heard before
you forgot abbas album super trouper
That was a number one album in the UK but not in the US
where's TOTO?
1:13 omg john :( ♡
Madonna looked sexy af!! 4:05
You might wanna fix the end Phil Collins didn’t actually hit number the week of December 30 December 30, 1989 was a frozen chart so Collins actually hit number one the first week in January 1990.
Wrongly labeled, those songs are not Movie soundtracks, in many cases was relased month before the movies, it was so hard to label the artist/band and song name in every case?
Kate Bush Hounds of Love best album ever, but didn’t make it to number one.
I guess she was too sophisticated for American radio
It declines after 1988 ... that was the end of the golden age !
There’s no golden age of music. It’s all subjective.
@@arturoromero951 Totally wrong mid 70 mid 80's was the best era for music, 98 % will agree with this
@@luiscevevery123 If you say “98% will agree with me on this” then that basically shows that you’re proving me right. Music is subjective and there is no golden age of music that is factually proven. What people think is the golden age of music is subjective. Right now, you’re trying to prove me wrong with something that is not a strong enough point, and you’re failing miserably. It takes common sense to know that what is a “golden age” of music is subjective. And it seems you threw all of that out the window when you made that idiotic excuse of a comment.
@@arturoromero951 you wanted to play to who’s the most stupid... you won
@@luiscevevery123 And explain why I won that? Because in your last sentence, you randomly added “to” in your sentence, which has no place to be there, and you never put quotations around “who is the most stupid.”
