Maybe around 5-6 years ago I put a post on Reddit if anybody had a ticket for the show in New York City at the Bowery.And Marc message back with, "give me your name.You're on the list plus one" out of nowhere. The Erykah Badu video is a transcendental experience. Like the moment when they snap out of their trance and say "Hi" to each other after having made sonic love for 20 mins.
I think that his creative process is very similar to standup. So for him to be chatting with Neal like this makes complete sense.
Agreed: reading a room, being spontaneous, making adjustments, having an open mind, going where the laughs/crowd interest takes you, constant re calibrations, etc.

Seriously - that combination of wanting to please people, but at the same time, wanting to rant and yell at them can probably fuel him for the rest of his life. If he can avoid letting success go to his head and living in a "bubble", the downfall of many a great talent, then I think the sky is the limit, and I can't wait to see what he does next. Man I started following his music when he had like 40k followers and he has blown up. He totally deserves the fame. Sad I didn’t see him when he played little shows now they’re huge and sold out! Happy for him!!
This is a great podcast. Putting in examples of Marc in a restaurant harassing people with his music, after Neal makes a joke about it makes the joke 10X funnier. I feel like if you have never seen any of Marc's videos you might think Neal is being rude, when in reality he is just explaining what it looked like in those videos. I remember sharing his videos because the music was amazing, but also because of the location and the reaction of the crowd trying to figure out what is going on in front of them.
You really have to appreciate marc.. he's an evil genius.. 😂❤
