77 yrs old when filming... 20-30 years later is he still crafting with us? What a master craftsman!!!
People who live lives like tend to live longer than those who don't.
Documenting traditional japanese woodskills are priceless. This should be in our history books. I cannot find a word to express my gratitude for your sharing this video.
Important yes cause he's going to be replaced by a robot
Carpentry done with only hand tools is very relaxing to watch
Ótimo trabalho e arte! Grato por postar este vídeo! Saudações do Brasil!

2:01 was he just free handing the pump drill with 1 hand lol..what a nice tool
He doesn't seem to be 77 years old, great craftsmanship indeed.
Agree with your idea 'bout his age 👍
Beside it, interesting vid, indeed !
It's amazing how easy he makes it look, it's not

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Lovely
Very good this vidio.
Twice tonight I have been wowed by two craftsmen. One made this type of pump drill and yet did not have a stand for it and I noticed the link on the side to this man and his pump drill press. Many wondered what it would take to turn the handheld pump drill into a drill press. So, in watching this one in use, I took the link address for this one over to the other site and for those of you interested, here is the other site I watched: ruclips.net/video/OtWVA7_9Rik/видео.html
Did you send the link to Clickspring? He might have use for that pump drill stand. :-)
I really want to use them... They are better than today's electric drill...
Saudações. Quanto mais vejo trabalhos japoneses com madeira, mais me encanto!
Thanks sir👍
Most welcome
Alguem pode me dizer como posso confeccionar uma furadeira manual dessa???
How did they create the metal tools and drill heads to get them straight (chicken or the egg)
