I’m glad you are both safe and sound! It was a bigger storm than predicted, at least from the forecasts I saw.
Things will rebound quickly and be back to normal. My wife and I had to cancel a trip back in ‘05 because of Wilma. We made it back a few months later and we were surprised at how quickly that town came back to normal. Wilma was a cat 5 if I remember correctly.

Hey buddy, glad to see you and Ana ok. At Riu, workers did great job prepping. Riu Palace Mexico lost tiles from roofs, big mosaic tile dome damaged, pool area tiles look sandblasted. But staff did amazing job keeping food and drink available. Now workers are still hard at work cleaning up. By tomorrow, everything will be 100%. Muchos respect and love to the resort workers who, with no sleep, took care of guests while their families and homes were impacted.

1988 Hurricane Gilbert struck PDC in a huge way. At the south of town, past the ferry dock there used to be beautiful homes. Gilbert came along and "removed" the sandy foundations and the houses were sitting a-tilt. ALL of what you see today in PDC was rebuilt after Gilbert so of course the buildings facing the sea have been built to current hurricane standards. Back in the 80s PDC was such a beautiful little fishing village and now it's sephora, Starbucks and H&M. Alas, all good things come to an end!

I remember hurricanes hitting the Tampa Bay area as a kid and had lots of flooding and wind damage
Brasil has NO hurricanes thank goodness
Here in BR most stores have roll up metal doors infront of their regular doors (to keep from being robbed) but they would keep out flying shit if we had a big storm

Firstly, very glad to hear that you and Anna are Okay. We are from Minnesota and really have no idea what a hurricane is like. We found you on you tube fairly recently and really appreciate the very informative videos. Especially the beach updates, restaurants and the ones related to retiring there as we are of that age. You have seemed concerned about your audio with the new mic. Don't be. You sound better that 99% of the other videos we have watched. We have come to Playa 13 or 14 times since 2012 and planning to come again in February. Obviously we like it a lot and will be exploring long term stays in the future. Keep up the great videos. They are appreciated!

Small town. Went to Renzos yesterday, Paulo sat next to us. We must have just missed you. I was pretty out of it due to lack of sleep and coffee. Had to go twice because not much was open. You should check out ipana, one of the pools lost almost all their glass panels. Another pool lost a few of them. There's shards of glass all open the property. Great video!

I was in Cancun downtown. Damage minimal. Slept right through it. Flew to Mexico City the next evening into 80 degree weather.

Nice!! Yea, Jorge’s quesadillas are on 2nd and 25th! If you walk west from the famous 5th Ave, on second, 4 blocks, you’ll see his stand on the corner. I’m sure he’ll be happy to see you. I know he’s having hernia surgery soon but I believe he’s still there and if not, the stand will still be open. He has hired a nice young lady and has taught her his quesadilla skills! We were lucky in this part of Colosio! Only about 24hrs or even a little less with no power. For some folks it was much, much longer. Between CTM and Ave Colosio it was days in the dark, no ac, and even no water including businesses like Emilio’s (pizza spot). No ac is brutal here this time of year, no doubt
Dick and Willie's hung out because of the Round shape... the wind was coerced to slide around it 😂 then sure the reinforced steel barb.. kept it up!
