Bob then goes back on the stand to tell the truth.
The only thing you should ever say to the cops is "I am invoking my right to a lawyer." Especially because if you start talking without one, the cops can claim you've waived your right to a lawyer and then you'll never get one.

The woman that opened the door was jealous of her daughter (the girl in the photos). The daughter that went missing was later discovered as a murder victim. If memory serves me correctly her mother killed her. Mom was jealous of her daughter's youth and beauty that she once had.

Later the Police go to the boyfriends home and find the girls remains and show the records to the guy so he will testify after learning that the girl he was talking to is dead and it was the mom the entire time.
