Sorry, lads. I got sidetracked A LOT while making this video, so it came out quite a bit later than I'd have liked. If you held off on rolling, though, I've got good news for you . . .
Let’s not forget Moriarty is the First EVIL RULER that is playable, THE EVILEST RULER who’s going to give us the EVILEST math test which we’ll all fail because it’s part of his EVIL PLAN!!
Moriarty does have surprisingly good compatibility with Yui Shoshetsu thanks to his rather unique 3 turn rainbow buff. She fits very well into the arts crit playstyle that Moriarty tries to do and also has healing to compliment Castoria’s hard survival. Astraea will probably be the better arts crit ruler overall even with this unique synergy but it gives him something that separates him from the other rulers at the very least.
This, sad Fino couldn't mention it but Yui gives Ruler Moriarty a lot of fun stuff to play with, the only other ones that can do this are Caren (who'd much rater have someone else backing her up) and Artoria Ruler (whose NP has to come before hers does).
I love his design, and enjoyed his story in Traum. I still skipped his banner, but learning he has a sick whip he brings out for attack animations from this video has changed my future rolling options for him.
I didn't really skip his banner because I wanted to try and get Don Quixote, but I accidentally got him, and Geronimo keeps on appearing on the Casters, where I thought was getting Zhang Jue.
And now I can safely retract what I said in a previous comment, his refund may still be unfortunate for an Arts looper but he's hitting for astronomical numbers now, god bless.
I love his first Ascension so much. Looks like the quintessential evil professor. It’s a shame he’s so underwhelming because aesthetically he’s so awesome.
One unfortunate thing about Ruler Moriarty besides the whale future of Summer Ibuki, is that the free NP5 welfare we get in Iyo is also an Arts AoE Ruler, and she's just flat out better than Ruler Moriarty in every aspect besides his anti-evil support niche. Iyo is actually a competent neutral farmer, and while she can't compete with the big names, she's still *very* good at neutral farming for F2Ps. Ruler Moriarty just gets completely dunked on by her, to say nothing of the whale toys we get this Summer and next.
@@briannguyen6248 she's still outdamage him at NP1. Moriarty has 2 Damage Buff, Iyo has 3 Evil enemies only gives him 20% more Arts Resist Down and his Supereffective Mod is against Good which has less range than Divine
I think it's really messed up how Ruler Moriarty has it after his release, he gets some intense competition in the coming two years both within his class and within AoE Arts at large. He's released in an era where Arts loopers feel purposely gimped on release for some reason or the other (either lack of ramp up that Space Ishtar introduced or subpar refunding, he which blatantly got both), only to go back on that NOT EVEN TWO MONTHS LATER with the obscenity that is Summer Ibuki, giving an unceremonious close to this weird era. This man cannot catch a break, a welfare and not one but two (almost three if we look back instead) Summer units give him a run for his money, he really needs something to catch up because as it stands, Summer Melusine completely dominates the AoE Ruler market and it's not even close.
Ruler Moriarty also ends up having some pretty good synergy/evil support with everyone's favorite local shitty priest. Rasputin's NP does indeed do super effective damage against evil alignment enemies--which RM can facilitate--and Kotomine provides a couple of team buffs (20% arts and 20% charge) to evil alignment allies. Throw a Castoria in there, and you got one nice screwed-up team!
Mysterious Idol X Alter and Lancer Vlad has Anti-Evil too so they have synergy with Ruler Moriarty too where one is a Welfare and the other is a Spook that would appear sometimes in your Rolls alongside Astrea.
I love Moriarty as a character so he’s gonna be my main attacker. I ran outa money and only got one copy so ima save up for when he comes back 😊 already got him to level 100 gonna basically use him to beat traum
I got one of him while rolling for Don Quixote. I almost wish I had gotten a third Don Q, but if i had that kind of wish power, I'd have taken extra Quixote over all the spooks.
Absolutely love his character and design. For a while I wanted to np5 him though I was worried about the cost of that. However it looks like he likes me more than I thought as I got him 3 times in my first 3 multis. Of course I decided to np5 him, and I think he’s the cheapest np5 I have so far. I already have a 120 np7 Melusine and I’m planning on the same for Summer Melu next year so I could care less about Meta at this point. Honestly I think I might skip over Summer Ibuki lol.
I love how Fino doesn't even mention one of Moriarty's biggest competitors is Iyo, a free 4 star AoE Arts Ruler who actually can loop. It's really unfortunate when you get outperformed by a welfare three months after you get added.
Having him made beating the last Grail Front yesterday a breeze. All those Moon Cancers didn't stand a chance. lol. I am glad I got him at NP2. I like him a lot. He may not do much damage, but he should be good in CQs.
Not the slow zoom in on his refund at the end. Fuck, man. I would send Nasu to god early if it meant I could transfer Summer Mel's kit to Moriarty Lily. In fact, why can't you do that? I'd roll on a lot more Servants, meta and favorites alike, if it meant I could then use the meta kits on said favorites. At that point, I'd probably even be okay with powercreep.
I think one of the main reason why his gain is so underwhelming is because of his triple arts deck. FGO tends to "nerf" the gains of triple arts deck servant (that are looper) because they dont want them looping much easier... While in fact, giving moriarty 2A2B deck will make his third skill more valuable.
He's in my collection because I'm also snagging Raita's servants. But also I love using wack ass servants like him for funny teams so he'll find some use. Also his NP animation in 2nd Ascension is great.
This is how people should think when summoning for servants, not everything has to be meta, as long as you enjoy the style/gameplay of a character go for them
I spent about 60 SQ for Don Quixote, but ended up with no Don and with 2 James instead (and I didn't even want him)... Desire sensor is a weird thing...
Yeah, didn’t find myself willing to roll on him. Has his niche uses. But overall I needed to save for others. Really too bad he got gimped in terms of pure looping.
As awesome as Johanna and S. Melusine are, I think you didn't mention Lady Iyo. I heard she's way more reliable for an Arts Ruler and she is a welfare.
People still use TI-83s. They are still $80. Texas Instruments is the perfect counterexample to use when some tries to tell you that “capitalism breeds innovation”.
Protea does need time to snowball tbf as she doesn’t start out with the most hp, lacks common defensive counterclassing and can be heavily critted down. Once she gets going she’s a wrecking ball but she needs help or luck to get there on most hard fights.
