I will like to do a mid-career switch to a social service and related one. I have a history of mental illness and is now on medication. I will need some help and pointers to get certified in this field and also look for jobs after that. My main challenge with this is that i am not able to study or work for long hours. So i am hoping there are social service jobs and related courses on part time basis with shorter study and working hours. I am not particular about the pay.

@elle Thanks for the pointer. I think if a book written by a local author reflecting the social service scene in Singapore may reflect a more accurate account of what i may be going into. Anyway i have been volunteering for a few years its not like i woke up one day and decided to join the social service. I think the main challenges i foresee will be if i am personally bias, judgmental or be self aware enough, a positive and encouraging working environment with supportive bosses and colleagues, and my temperament. Not to mention if there will even be part time placements available in social service and related work.
