I am trying to hardwire dash cam to my w639 vito (same as the model in this video). The main fuse box is in engine compartment. Any idea how to run cables through to the cab easily??? Same issue you mentioned about some radios not having the switched 12v.
Eventually I found a way. If you open the fuse box, then look under the glove box. Two screws will lower the padding and then there is a very small line of sight right up to the fuse box. Just enough space to pull a wire through with a long bit of stiff wire.
Tried fitting a satnav unit to my 58 vito, but the canbus sent the on board computer nuts saying airbag fault ,any ideas which satnav to fit where the radio is ,the steering wheel is a plain one with no controls onit
lol no idea, I guess a previous owner installed some rear speakers at some point. If the wires are original factory fitted then maybe they are for a camper version of the van or some sort of minibus.
Hello PJs Projects, Would you be able to give me some advice please? I have a 2007 Vito and I've just fitted a new pioneer head unit... With it all plugged in I have no power, so like you said in the Vid I then piggybacked off of the Lighter Socket fuse and it worked however it was flickering (is the CANBUS causing that?) Finally (just to prove there was no issues with the radio) I ran it direct to the Batt and no flickering... but I don't like the idea of forgetting to turn it off and running my battery flat so I'd rather the piggyback option... Could you give me some advice please? Thanks Liam
Thank you for putting this video up. It made the installation of the radio very easy, especially as I have fitted virtually the same Pioneer Radio. How ever I am having power issues that I don't understand and think you mentioned in your video. I have a 2012 W639 Vito and when I put a meter on the wires this is what I find. Permanent power ignition OFF 12v - ignition ON 14V (Yellow wire on Pioneer Loom) ACC Power ignition OFF 12V - ignition ON 4V (Red Wire on Pioneer Loom) I have tried changing the wires over but the radio down not turn on at all. I hope you can suggest a solution as I am 2 days into trying to sort this out. Thank you
Right I have added a red wire to the 12V cigarette socket and it now works with the ignition on, but not with the ignition off... I am sure I am missing something obvious..
Im going through the same thing right now got 2008 vito putting in new head unit. Drops dwn to 4vlts when turning the key , my older 2001 vito was simple.. key off 0 vlt key on 12vlt.. I feel your pain
Maika I want to connect my power cable to the cigarette lighter but unsure how to access them wires.. did you have to remove dashboard or can you pull the cigarette lighter thing out somehow?
Interestingly, my father in law wanted to see if the cigarette lighter was still live after the new radio had been installed (and stopped the remote central locking working) He attached a small light bulb to an adapter that was inserted into the cigarette lighter. On turning the ignition on, the bulb lit up. When we turned the ignition off (and kept the adapter in place) the central locking system now works again. We’re all a bit baffled but it is somehow giving an antenna for the key fob and locking system. Demonstrating that the new radio installation did knock out the remote central locking system 🤔
The radio install may of caused either a bad earth or however fitted it tapped power from the cigarette socket but left the original radios power cable connected and so is feeding power back down a circuit that it should t go down.
we removed an after market CD player to replace with another stereo without cd player, connected the same way but the new one is not powering up, any thoughts?
A 2005 model should be just before they changed over to what is called quadlock harness, yours should be on what is called iso, this type of plug should attach directly to the cable that comes with the new aftermarket radio and so no interface harness is needed.
@@PJsprojects thanks for relying. The plugs coming out of the van are a double and a single plug with the single being slightly bigger. whereas the adapter that links to the stereo only has a double plug. I have asked in places like halfords and noone seems to be able to help. I also tried just plugging in the double but it didnt work.
@@garyingram8526 mine didn't get any power. I tried an adapter but it didn't work. I ended up taking it to a fitter and it took him less than 5 mins to do. Wish I'd done it ages ago!
I have a Sony explode stereo when the ignition is of and the key isn't in the merc.2007 vito van just like in video I have an adapter and connected it the stereo works but as soon as I put the key in the stereo doesn't work at all please help my stereo is blue tooth . Best regards Alexander

I have one of these from late 2003. Is there any way I can feed any other source of sound into it?
name of the cable adaptor?
I have an 05 vito. I cannot find an adapter to attach to the harness already in the van, so i can put in a newer stereo. Is there anything I can do?
