Then have been through 8 years since our divorce and had many an encounter sexually and loved every minute, and came to think I couldn't be taught anything about love and yet sat alone, as strong and self made a character as I am found myself mesmerized by the beauty of a love I forgot how to feel again... I cried... Not through sadness, but with a love they shared... A love that really exists... It's real... Restored my faith in love in fact... Thank the whole crew for that gem and insight into the human heart. Thank you all. Beautiful.

As a 83 year old widow, this is not my normal viewing . I have binged watched this three times into the early hours and it has brought back emotions and stirrings I have not felt since 1953. Bloody marvellous. Had to send the career out for some more Kleenex.
It's amazing that I've seen so many comments like this from women and men alike, all across various ages. A testament to how brilliantly made the show is, distilling the very essence of the novel which is relatable to anyone who have loved before.
I think she got it right because she didn't over do the accent keeping quite neutral, often you hear actors go from kerry to belfast to dublin and then to pirate accents all in the one sentence.
Honestly I thought it was a masterpiece. Left me absolutely wrecked. They're both extraordinary and their chemistry together is dynamite. I became particularly immersed in Daisy's performance, I couldn't look away; her facial expressions and gestures, the emotional cracks in her voice just had me in tears repeatedly.
Honestly the best thing I've ever watched I felt so emotionally entwined with the characters and felt everything that they felt never had a series make me feel like this before
Like everybody else here, I was absolutely floored by this impeccable series. It moved me more than any film, or any book. As a 50 year old man, I don't normally watch stuff like this, in fact I would say I would have avoided it if it had been sold on the sex, but I was floored. Just staggering. Exceptional, incredible. Every single scene, word, look, glance, facial tick was immaculately observed and acted. I have binged it twice, and still cannot help but dip back in. Never seen anything quite so beautiful. Could not take my eyes off Daisy, and Paul was equally superb. Just epic. 10/10.
Thanks to all involved in bringing us this series. I'm a nearly 60-year-old man, and while I'm watching the show, I'm transported to my much younger years when the feelings portrayed by the actors were quite vivid - and painful. Beautiful work by the actors. And I much appreciate the 30 minute (give or take) length of each episode. Gives you time to catch an episode here and there without feeling like you should be doing something else.
I haven't seen any other comments about this but I think for me and a lot of my friends it was really nice to see something so Irish and that presented growing up in Ireland so authentically. We never hear people in shows talking about gaa or the debs or the applying to the cao and I think it was really special in that way

One of the best Dramas I’ve seen in along time. Paul Mescal and Sarah Greene were brilliant and so was Daisy Edgar Jones.The Acting from everyone was another level. Normal people was extremely relatable as well so many different emotions and issues covered. I really struggled at school because I didn’t have many friends and didn’t enjoy being there and also I struggle with mental health and think about killing myself. I binge watched it in two days. I’ll probably watch it again at some point. Hopefully in the future to go back and continue the story. Really well done loved it 👍

I literally cried in every other scene from episode 1 - 6 (halfway). I was so emotional attached to their love and felt every hidden or unspoken emotion that they tried to express. I haven't cried to any other drama like this since Titanic!
Utterly smitten with the whole series, even though I'm not usually one for love stories. It really creeps up on you, starting out innocently enough and then the two main characters start to become people you really care about, to the point where you just so want them to be happy. I keep watching the final episode again and again, and it breaks me up every time. The acting, direction, story and script, and especially the music are impeccable throughout and couldn't be bettered. An outstanding series.

Fantastic adaptation of the book! The characters cast did the book justice! I couldn't put the book down and I've binged watched the whole series. You actually feel that your going on a journey with this couple and I hope that lots of young people watch this because it's such a good message especially for boys because of the way Connell expresses his emotions honestly. I hope we're going to be treated to a second series and Sally Rooney continues to write. I hope Normal People gets the recognition it deserves and awards given to writers , producers and cast members. Well done BBC THREE for streaming this series.

Noooo! It's perfect as it is. Connell went to New York and did what he loves to do. Marianne probably became a researcher. Or a politician. Or wrote books like Connell. And they each travelled the world. Sometimes together, sometimes together with friends, sometimes alone. They actively chose not to rely upon one another for happiness, but to live lives conducive to contentment, and share the joy they had with one another only when the time was right. It couldn't have ended any more beautifully, for me. Love shouldn't prevent people from living completely individual lives and experiencing the world and all its wonders.

Paul & Daisy were perfectly cast, cannot get over how precious and cute Daisy Edgar-Jones is! Her physique and fringe convinces me she'd be perfect to play Max Caulfield in the live action Life is Strange series 💙
This is probably the first drama I’ve watched in years....or ever that the love scenes actually made sense. These two did not act their characters, they WERE their characters. I really did not like the ending though

The way I saw myself in the main characters hit a little too close to home tbh - it was mildly triggering, but overall I loved this series possibly more than any other cinematic artwork I have seen. I haven’t read the book, but the detailed emotions in the film felt like what you can usually only achieve in your own imagination by reading a book.

I love the show. It’s very beautiful, also sad in some parts. There’s a great connection between the two, both afraid of breaking each other hearts. The female is a bit odd, cause she’s not use to easy love. Marianne comes from a hard loving family. Her family is so distant. She feels alone when not with Connell. Connell understands her more than anyone. She understands him. She doesn’t want to keep him from his greatest potential, which is awesome. I wish she would stop trying to split being close to him. She overthinks a lot, which is easy to understand knowing her background. Maybe she’s afraid of something (like a personal thing she needs to learn). Her family had a huge impacted on her lifestyle (thoughts,actions, and motives). Sad really, cause she wants to be loved. It shows, she had dated different guys which were the complete opposite from everything she is, wanted, and desired. They are perfect for each other. They balance each other. If you find everything in “one” why let the person go?
I always thought she was Irish, I've only just discovered she's English. Her accent was very good. One comment I'd have is that I thought it would conclude at the end of the last episode - you can see it was left open for another series. I really enjoyed it.
Paul Mescal is Connell and Connell is Paul Mescal. Such a brilliant and an intelligent actor, he makes us feel like we really know him well, wish for him to know us, & want to touch him... as if to validate the familiarity. I do not want to be with a person like Connell, but I think the character resonates so well with us because we all have a Connell and a Marianne within us. Not to mention Lenny! What a brilliant director! Also, Sally Rooney & Paul Mescal could be good for each other.
What a wonderful performance! So very real, but hardly ever exressed, the pain of young first love! Old Mary Whitehouse has certainly gone, thank goodness!.....I liked the fact that they used contraceptives at all times, and he was so very caring towards her during her first experience, and said that it was ok to stop if shee wanted! We all knew the feeling of our other half being in close extremity in the class at this age and the subsequent feelings, when apart! Just a wonderful drama, and I can say this and I am now an OAP, you always remember your first true love! Thankyou Daisy and Paul!.........................old Tich.
it’s how the book ended and there’s no second book. it’s a bittersweet ending and that’s how it’s meant to be. i guess it’s up for your interpretation as to whether they end up back in the same place together.
I don't think I've ever felt so much because of the show, one moment I felt like I am in love, another one hurt so bad. I watched it yesterday and can't stop thinking about it, even started watching again, which is not normal I think. Should I read a book instead? Is there anyone who read the book after watching a show?
First thing my daughter said to me. Dad she is a double for Anne Hathaway. Some of the close up shots were most distracting. Totally agree with you. I thought both leading actors were brilliant. Total chemistry.
Yeah she should have made the effort to change her face. It was lazy on her part and distracting for us. I kept breaking into songs from Les Miserables for Christ’s sakes.
I actually attended the school they shot this in. It was so odd seeing this great story unfolding right where I spent 6 years of my life. I can think of numerous moments and stories for every space they occupied, it's weird having a TV show add new moments to those same spaces years after leaving the school.

Amazing series, I'm a 42yr old, went to Uni in 1995, but still could relate completely...it all felt so real.

Paul Mescal is Connell and Connell is Paul Mescal. Such a brilliant and an intelligent actor, he makes us feel like we really know him well, wish for him to know us, & want to touch him... as if to validate the familiarity.
I do not want to be with a person like Connell, but I think the character resonates so well with us because we all have a Connell and a Marianne within us.
Not to mention Lenny! What a brilliant director!
Also, Sally Rooney & Paul Mescal could be good for each other.
Both leading actors were superb. A BAFTA performance if ever I saw one. Congratulations to all who made this Drama. Paul and Daisy are so talented.
What a wonderful performance! So very real, but hardly ever exressed, the pain of young first love! Old Mary Whitehouse has certainly gone, thank goodness!.....I liked the fact that they used contraceptives at all times, and he was so very caring towards her during her first experience, and said that it was ok to stop if shee wanted! We all knew the feeling of our other half being in close extremity in the class at this age and the subsequent feelings, when apart! Just a wonderful drama, and I can say this and I am now an OAP, you always remember your first true love! Thankyou Daisy and Paul!.........................old Tich.

it’s how the book ended and there’s no second book. it’s a bittersweet ending and that’s how it’s meant to be. i guess it’s up for your interpretation as to whether they end up back in the same place together.

I don't think I've ever felt so much because of the show, one moment I felt like I am in love, another one hurt so bad. I watched it yesterday and can't stop thinking about it, even started watching again, which is not normal I think. Should I read a book instead? Is there anyone who read the book after watching a show?

Yeah she should have made the effort to change her face. It was lazy on her part and distracting for us. I kept breaking into songs from Les Miserables for Christ’s sakes.

I actually attended the school they shot this in. It was so odd seeing this great story unfolding right where I spent 6 years of my life. I can think of numerous moments and stories for every space they occupied, it's weird having a TV show add new moments to those same spaces years after leaving the school.
These two are darling.. great actors great chemistry. I would love to see them in a movie together . They both have very bright futures
