Idk about everyone else but honestly seeing a jab get armored through before landing the buster gives a different kind of satisfaction. Especially against single hit DPs Like "lmao, of all the wake up options, you chose wrong, now let's fly"
@@Bird_in_a_Trenchcoat I have a strong feeling that Potemkin is still good this patch Also… personally I’m happy with 6K karas being gone. I could do kPB and kFMF just fine, the others maybe 2/3 times in neutral, but kBFM combos were just annoying. I’d rather have the consistency, and I think the garuda and PB changes balance out them not having karas. No kFMF in neutral does hurt a bit though.
I really like new potemkin. He's a lot less funny with all of the 6K karas being gone, but honestly, i've had a blast playing this new version. HF being buffed just makes him feel so much faster and smoother, idrk how to describe it in detail. But hey, I had 2 people rage quit against me, so that was nice! Gonna miss roundstart pb though.
Really useful to know, thank you. Fyi some of the imputs in the description are wrong, like Garuda being 214C, and slide head 236p. Just saying bc it could cause some confusion.
Just out of curiosity, why might you go for the buster armor over a normal safejump? I assume there's some knockdown situations where you have the option of one or the other.
@@ERRandDEL with a safejump the opponent can always block it if they see it coming; with this pot can either do PB or 5P, and whatever the opponent does, one of those two options will beat it. But if the opponent chose right, pot may take some damage or get outright combo’d, unlike with safejumps. So this is a higher risk tech (though it’s fairly pot favored) that forces the opponent into a true 50/50.
I know SOME people would feel "special" doing the Karas, but man, don't f around now with Potemkin, it is WAY WAY more accessible to play for anyone and the skill now rely on the setups and the break cancel, those distance... also the grab now hits harder and has longer range. I am all in for those changes, also most graplers nowadays have some sort of invul or armor so they can work better, because everone would mash and beat them, without fast normals and without invul/armor you would rarely be able to use the grabs unless you are already quite good at the game. And BTW I am on Floor 8, fallen from 10 since I long time moved to KOF and it is taking me a long time to adapt, not only to the changes on my charactes but to others which makes quite interesting to re-learn the game again
Honestamente el perder los "Kara cancel" le quita juego neutral al personaje. Ahora se volvio un personaje absolutamente 50-50 que no va a poder depender de la presión como antes y eso en un grappler es horrible en mi experiencia. I think that’s a bit of an overstatement. Just because he doesn’t move slightly forward with his specials anymore doesn’t change his gameplan. It was and still is “mixup between strike and command grab.” His effective range might’ve changed, but I think it would be foolish to call him bad now after only a couple days. His pressure is still fine since garuda doesn’t push pot away from the opponent. I think the new otg>hammerfall oki people are finding looks pretty interesting too. I think it’s important to keep an open mind and wait before drawing any radical conclusions.
@@itsLumosASMRthe opponent has to decide on doing jump or backdash to beat getting pot bustered, or have a reversal super or a multihit dp. Pot can decide to do 5P instead to beat those options (by hitting jump and backdash and recovering fast enough to block reversals), but he gets way worse reward of course
Just curious, but isn't it possible for the opponent to just RRC when they trigger the PB armor? Just wanted to ask cause I saw FAB post a clip on twitter of Gio seemingly doing just that.
Dang… you’re right, pot just gets completely frozen once they press rrc and then he gets hit. So PB is a bigger gamble if they have meter then. At the very least they still have to RPS against PB and 5P or cS, and with BWA, cS combos are still gonna hurt a lot and lead to another knockdown RPS.
@kungusrungus2133 I appreciate your two cents in the matter. Part of the reason why I wanted to ask was because despite the fact that RRC is supposedly a counter to Pot's armored moves, I don't really seem to see players do it much even when they have the meter? I guess we gotta take into account that we can't expect them to react properly every single time this happens since there must be a lot of things going through their minds in the middle of a match.
I mean, if they have to spend 50% of their meter in order to get a jab combo on potemkin after guessing he was gonna pot buster, that's still significantly better for potemkin than before when the opponent could get that combo for free
@@ihatehaters231 oh yea, there’s no way they can react to the jab hitting armor and have time to rrc, they have to buffer it. If you meant reacting to the setup, pot can do this off almost any hard knockdown and a couple otgs like 2K>2D>HF~HFB>cS>HF~HFB, so if they know the pot is doing them they should be guessing every wakeup
@@The_Meevthe opponent isn't getting a jab combo after armor rrc. They're getting a combo with RAW RRC as their starter, the literal best starter in the game period. Anyone who knows what they're doing can demolish your health.

My favorite part of it is the short little pause from hitstun as their brain gets just enough time to register how much health they’re about to lose
The whiff pot buster to armor through vapor thrust just looks silly. But if it works it works
