You need to modify the suspension to be more grippy, the 240sx is a beast for drag racing so you could use the same engine customization (everything+10) and gear ratios. Maybe you want to sacrifice top speed for acceleration. I actually beat Ryo in a worse car (powerwise), the Lancia Integrale. Is literally upgrade and forget, no tuning necessary at all, but has a very mid top speed. Also, try your hand at manual transmission, helps a lot if you are used to it. If not, just use auto and gear up when the car needs it (usually a bit before the car auto-shifts)

Sry if it's late, but it's possible to actually get 1st on a 240sx in a Oval Circuit if you're doing the 4-lap grip race. The Time Attack version is impossible unless you start modding with the vehicle. All you gotta do is tune the 240sx's drivetrain to the max, keep drafting on Paul Trask's Skyline (since his car's the fastest in this event) and only overtake him at the final lap and the second corner exit with a NOS. Victory guaranteed~ :)
Even with all Stage 4 upgrades makes his car as beat as possible, even for drag, drift, and speed. Defeating all king cars in his fully Stage 4 upgraded Nissan 240SX is quite challenging even a skilled expert might pull them off.
I used to do this in NFS HP2 (NFS6). Would set the Ai to Expert/Hard and while using a NFS edition car would let them get an almost 1 minute head start lol
RX-8 is probably one of the best performance-to-value Grip vehicles in the game alongside the Impreza. That thing apparently has Formula 1 levels of grip when maxed.

Also except the 240 sx, all 3 cars are pretty fast, i mean i beat Ryo in 2 of his races and Ray Krieger with the RX-8. I changed to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS bcz i wanted to use an other car now.
Tbh, 240SX is actually pretty decent grip car, even without stage 4 parts. Awesome handling, and really quick acceleration. The only real problem is top speed - though, it's soldable with stage 4 XD
No Vlt changes at all. Set cam timing & boost to maximum. You can probably make it much much faster with longer gear ratios. Also, reaching max speed in any car in this game is really easy with nos.
you can actually complete the game with a 240SX stage 3 in pretty much everything, except for one or two tracks, like the high speed oval ones in Ray Kriger. Its handling is just so OP

It's one of the best grip cars in the game with it's top speed being the only problem. Ryo is easily beatable with the 240.
The Evo X in of itself is one of the strongest Grip vehicles, but since you're up against an AI, the 240SX will do just fine.
