I just had this today. My anxiety level has skyrocketed after seeing some videos on how it is administrated. The injection was not so bad. I felt it, kinda stingy but overall not painful. Whoever needs to hear this, go for it. I'm getting it after breast ca btw.
I'm getting my first injection tomorrow. Wednesday for Prostate Cancer which is already spreading. Looks like a lot of fun YIKES! LOL. BUT if it will help reduce my pain and slow the spread I'm willing to get it. Infection and adverse side effect are my concern. Read info on it. Pretty scary the possible side effects. Esp where I have Type 2 diabetes. My heart and BP are good but this implant could have an adverse effect on that or even kill me. But I'm dying anyway sooner or later. My wife is disabled and I am her 24/7 caretaker. My greatest fear is something happening to me that I won't be able to care for her or I will die and she will be left with no one to love or care for her. I'm 73 yrs old and my wife 59yrs. Second marriage for both of us. 21yrs June this yr. Life really sucks at times. Esp in old age.
Best advice I can give to help with this injection is to ice the area before injection. I took an ice pack with me and numbed the area. You could also ask for numbing cream but you need to wait 30mins before injection. It was the best experience, after having it done so many times with nurses that were anxious to do it and made me suffer so much because they took their time injecting it. This injection is meant to be done quickly, not slowly!
I just received this for breast cancer. The nurse had me use an ice bag for a few minutes before the injection. I barely felt it. I don't know if it was the ice, but I'll definitely use it every time. I have a lot of these to look forward to.
@@stephanieoregan Hi! I'm doing pretty well. Just experiencing what seems like typical menopause-type stuff. Hot flashes, appetite changes, etc. Nothing too exciting. I had my 2nd injection on 11/28 and again, used ice beforehand, barely felt it, and very little discomfort in the following days. I hope it's going as well for you. I see from the other comments that everyone's experience is very different. And of course I hope it helps with your condition. I've only read about endo, and what an absolute nightmare it seems like. My lumpectomy is on Tuesday, and chemo starts mid-January. Cancer is stage 1, so as much as it will be a miserable ride, I know there's a good outcome waiting for me. ❤ I can't believe I just turned 40 this summer and scored cancer on my 1st mammogram.
I just had this shot today ,I was very fortunate that my doctor used a numbing spray a minute before injecting me, I did not feel anything at all. A little discomfort is expected after the spray descipates, speak to your doctor about the numbing spray beforehand, I hope this helps you, I wish you the best of health in the name of Jesus ❤
Everyone is different but I personally find that the numbing spray makes the whole thing a lot worse - it's horrible, cold and uncomfortable before the needle even gets anywhere near the skin. I would personally recommend just getting the injection on its own. The needle doesn't really hurt any less with the numbing spray (and it doesn't hurt as much as you'd expect given the size of the needle) but the numbing spray just prolongs the whole ordeal. If you are concerned, I would really recommend that you request a doctor or nurse who is experienced and confident with the procedure. The needle needs to go in, with the plunger being depressed shortly after and then the needle removed. If this is done with hesitation it can cause more pain/discomfort and leave bruising, so if you're nervous, a nervous practitioner isn't going to help. As your comment is from nearly a year ago and many people do not receive this for more than a handful of months, I presume that this is no longer relevant to yourself (and hopefully all is well), however, I hope that others may find this helps them.
Never had any pain or bloating from the needle site. It’s doing its job beautifully. Oh to be a man and only have it every 12 weeks instead of every 4!
Hello Doctor, can you answer me please 🙏🏼 nurse made the dose in the butt while he was standing on feets, but it was wrong and it go back out as I saw, can we do one more to the stomach at the same day? I scare that my dad didn’t get enoght dose
I’m on this and it really depends on the administration. I go to the hospital for mine and the nurses do it. It can be agony. I’ve yelled out and cursed.
This is one of the suggested ‘drawbacks’ of zoladex and there are other brands that have smaller needles - see our other videos. It’s purported that the skin of the lower abdomen doesn’t have point differentiation up to that size. Patients tolerate it extremely well and local doesn’t seem to be needed.
It doesn’t hurt at all. I’m having these injections and they have reduced the size of my prostate which was / Is suffering from aggressive prostate cancer. My breasts have become swollen and sore and I do suffer from hot flushes but otherwise I feel very well and I can wee properly again.
I wish they did!! The one I had over a week ago is still causing me some discomfort which is unusual. Could be why that one hurt three times more than all the others I’ve had! The nurse must have hit a nerve ending.
Bit of a late reply, but my nurse did this today. The plunger came right out. She reinserted it for a second go and the capsule apparently vanished on depressing it but the needle didn't retract.
I get my 1st one tomorrow that's why I'm here checking it out . My cancer is now terminal and has spread to limonoids and liver. There hoping it decreases my psa levels witch at at 8.0 now , not Hight you may think but I had a radical proctectomy 12 years ago when i had my 1st bout with prostate cancer. It looks terrible but i guess its better than kicking the bucket in a year or so. Why is the person administering the Zoladex not bare below the elbows? Long sleeved shirt and what looks like a spiral hair bobble around the wrist. This is an aseptic procedure.
Are there woman here who are injecting those needles themselves????? I really really really want to learn it because I won't plan my life around doctors appointments for the next 3 years
I do it myself, once a month. It's too stressful to go to a clinic every month. It's easy if you're brave. Some months it hurts more than others. You just have to make sure you inject quickly, no hesitation. That's much easier said than done. Good luck! You can do it!
@@peternewman3487 Not painless for me. I give it a pain rating of 7 out of 10 although once the needle has retracted there is no pain. Unlike in the video, the nurses that give me the injection put it in fairly slowly so that may account for it being painful.
