  • "Rusticanella" is an Italian military march composed in 1919 by Domenico Cortopassi.
In 1923 Domenico Cortopassi was sent to conduct a military fanfare and, having no music suited to the situation, he decided to swine "Rusticanella".
Mussolini, listening to the march, was very impressed by it, and adopted it as the anthem of the XII military zone, but it was always played on every occasion.
King Vittorio Emanuele III also greatly appreciated this march and, during a cruise, he asked that it be played.
It was used in the soundtrack of many films, for example: "Anni difficili", "Sua Eccellenza si fermò a mangiare" and "La Battaglia di El Alamein".
