      Canada has this done to it all the time. People now can have five Passports in four different names in six different countries. They simply bail. Back in the early eighties recession/depression some guys I know lost their Kenworths (Owl Cartage) and an auction company guy was last seen driving back into the USA in his RV with all the receipts. Owl also was an American that low balled all the contracts, pulled the money into his briefcase, and bailed back to theUS. These were FAMILY men whose several bounced checks put them under in already hard times. Many lost their houses.

      How?

      @ivansolorio92 3 года назад +101

      @@jesusa.2927 The IRS will let your business run until you pay them back. While the DMV will completely shutdown your business because you are using thier permits. Investigations could take up to a year or two depending on the situation. Now you gotta worry about paying rent, flooring companies, and the workers. Plus the car value goes down during that time. They will have the cops, the Highway patrol, and firefighters to inspect your business and a whole lotta more paperwork. Even if you come out clean, you still have a red flag on your business for a certain amount of time, which can hurt you if you are taking a loan out or trying to do business with other companies.

    An an auditor I have seen this situation on a number of occasions. Bottom line, innocent buyers will be able to keep the cars they paid for and sellers only recourse will be with the dealer. There may also be some buyers whom paid for the purchase of a vehicle and not taken delivery. Very unfortunate, although the dealer may also be looking at jail time given the large scale of apparent fraud which will be difficult to explain. Best to all other than the dealer!
