2024
Rest In Peace Miss Cicely Tyson, she passed away this evening.🌹🌹🌹🌹😪
I’m so happy they truly gave her flowers while she was still with us. 🌹 RIP to one of the classiest most humble actresses
Still can't believe it.. I know she was 96...still hurts😭❤❤❤
WTF was this stacked Kennedy Center Honors like damn!!! Two of the most iconic trail blazing talented actresses, one of the best maestros to ever live, one of the most well-known influential directors with the best film franchises, and one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever.
Plus the damn tributes were at their best.
I believe Aretha stopped playing piano around this time due to the pain. I think this is why Carol was so amazed to see her at that piano!
Aretha and Carole’s entire reaction still makes me cry after watching it a thousand times.
Yes !!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Cicely Tyson is absolutely GORGEOUS.
I'm sitting here crying throughout the tribute to Cicely Tyson. I recently read her autobiography and I almost feel as if I knew her. What an inspiration she is!
She was amazing!
I am ugly crying, blessed the amazing Cicely Tyson, and all the wonderfulness she left in this world.
I thought I cried when Aretha sang, but when CeCe sang "BLESSED ASSURANCE" IT WAS OVA, not over but OVA. Miss Tyson was on her feet; when you KNOW LIKE YOU KNOW you can't help but praise him, and the dam broke.😭😭😭😭
Her voice could move mountains Cece Winans queen 👸🏾❤️
Amen
Cece Winans could move mountains with that voice ⛰️😭 Queen 👑👸🏾❤️
Rewatching this and seeing Carrie Fisher and Aretha Franklin I was just overwhelmed with emotion. And of course Gina and Rita Moreno and Cicely Tyson made me cry.
Now our Cicely is gone 😭
That Carole King tribute... phew... So well done for such an inspiration and game-changing artist!
I really love Carole King!
6 yrs later, everyone still alive except Queen Cicely Tyson; she has taken her rest.....rest in power Queen
Ahhhh … We lost Aretha Franklin. But. So many still precious and still with us …. ❤❤❤❤
The Carole tribute was pretty darn perfect. Great choices for tribute artists.
Rest In Peace Ms. Tyson. You are truly as strong as a woman called Moses.
Can't believe she died 😔💔
@@tot23870 she was old lived a good life

Cicely Tyson at 42:58 and Aretha Franklin 1:23:17 in one show!! Love it Rest in Peace to both legends ❤
Cicely is so beautiful omg so gracefully beautiful at that age!
Aretha killed it twice in one night, with natural woman and in the finale alongside the other great singers. My favorite KCH of all time!
I’m all about Rita Moreno.
I love her dearly,since I was 4 years old!
I’m 51 now.

Hello Brenda
How are you doing today?
When Aretha Franklin walked out it caught everybody by surprise and her performance blew everybody else out of the water in a night of other great performances.
OMG Aretha! We all bow 🙇♀️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Representation is important to all cultures.
42:49-57:07 is the tribute for the legendary Ms. Cicely Tyson and what a beautiful tribute it was in celebration of her wonderful career. Rest in peace Ms. Tyson and thank you.
Wow. I'm a huge Miles Davis fan. I had no idea he and Cecilie were married. I can watch Yo Yo Ma for hours.
Carole's reaction to Aretha gets me every time I watch that performance. The way Aretha just throws her coat down onto the stage. She was truly Queen of soul.
Goshhhhh Cicely is sooooo beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍😍💖💖🥰🥰🥰🥰💗💗
My heart is so full watching Cicely Tysons tribute❤️RIH QUEEN❤️
Keysha Latee not only you ; but Cecee sang like an angel and all other performances before and after pale in comparison even the queen of soul (no shade) just the honest to God truth!!!!
The way aretha killed her set and the song at the end
She was so effortless. What an incredible woman.
This KCH was exceptional.
The Kennedy Centre Honors series, especially this one, re-affirms my faith in all things bright and beautiful. Through their brilliant performances honoring the honorees, these remarkably talented artists, in their amazingly incredible presentations, remind me, so cogently, about a better time that we all knew and loved. I cry, laugh, and feel; like I haven't felt like for so long. Its like being born again and seeing life and its possibilities, afresh, for the first time.
The lives and times and of the honorees parallel, and illuminate ours. Shukriya, Dhanyavad, Nandri, Thank you 😊 🙏
Sue Walsh, I totally agree. Miss Tyson is still magnificent ! I was lucky to meet the great lady while she visited my Mother at her home to gather from my Mom a rare sapphire -blue rose cutting from among my Moms garden of rare roses from all over the world. We chatted for a short spell and learned quickly, she is truly a special, amazing lady. Miss Tyson collected her rose cutting, than stuffed in my Mom's shirt pocket her family recipe for corn bread. Than arm and arm walked slowly together to the front of my Mom's estate. The old ladies hugged and kissed, waveing to me and than was driven away in her limo. I'll never forget that day.
listen carefully to the orchestration its exceptionally gorgeous
This was FANTASTIC so much inspiration! R.I.P. Dame Aretha, and Dame Cicely!
Aretha. What a performance!
President Obama is holding back tears at Aretha Franklin's performance.
Marsha Lois Camille Philpotts he wasn't crying . He just wiped his eyes
He admitted to crying
He wants to sing so bad but I guess he doesn’t want to be seen singing “you make me feel like a natural womaaaaan” 😄
Cicely Tyson, great actrice !!!
TheRudi101 Oh yes she is a wonderful delightful inspirational dedicated actress to any role she played in I just loved her in autobiography of Ms. Jane Pitman😋😙
Seiji Ozawa is a god.
Thank you Ms. Tyson for your intergrity, to not accept roles that would degridate your culture was truly and uniquely couragegous.
I've been watching these Kennedy Center awards all night but this is the 1st one to make me slow clap...to Aretha Franklin
The performances in given for these artists were incredible, I got goosebumps when George Lucas held Carole King's hands up in the air in 1:27:21.
Thank you ...I've been looking all over for this!!! Rita and Carole...I wanted to see the whole story.
Who´s the asian guy behind Carole?
These five are truly legends.
Absolutely amazing! Art, music performances and what a privilege this live audience had to see such a great performance by Aretha!
The stage is too small for Rita and West Side Story
Rest in peace Maestro Seiji, condolences the family, fans are always invited to keep the memory alive and organize tribute events 😢😢😢, big loving hug Maestro Seiji forever alive in our hearts 😢😢😢
When Pastor Cece Winans sang Blessed Assurance I was so moved. Pastor CeCe has the anointing and a God gift. Love it ❤️❤️
This was beautiful, I started my journey watching a video of Ronee Martin singing in America's Got Talent, which lead me to Aretha Franklin's Natural Woman, which lead me to this show, gotta love RUclips!!
Lol same I saw Aretha performance then searched up the full show
I cannot imagine the cost to rebuild the theatre after Ms. Franklin brought it down.

Cicely Tyson, I never forget the look on her face when in Sounder she ran to meet her husband, short clip of it is included in the tribute here. An iconic moment, something I've never seen before or since. Do you know what I mean?
One of the greatest scenes in American cinema. Only Miss Cicely Tyson!
Fun fact: that was actually the second take. The producer was so teary-eyed from her performance, he wasn’t sure if he got the first one right on camera.
Yes! Yes! True! The best!
Yes I do that short clip is ingrained into my mind I remember watching the movie and thinking of that
Kids these days: Wow, Ariana Grande is the best.
Aretha: "Hold my fur coat for a sec."
Err really they think that I’m embarrassed for my generation not knowing real singers like Aretha
This was absolutely amazing and so inspiring!

Her mother was jus scared for her and alot of people who go to Hollywood do not come back ok. Drugs, see, alcohol gripped them and tear them apart like nothing. I Am so glad u had your mother's determination and grit to stay on the right course.
