We'll never see this level of grace, humility and humanity in stars with such stratospheric success again in Hollywood. Rare breed. No, an extinct one.
When I was a Receptionist at a Porsche/Audi dealership in the late '80s early 90's in New Haven, Connecticut. Mr. Newman came in for service for one of his Porsches. He was so down to earth. We had a nice conversation and I had just moved to Connecticut from Louisiana. He said he loved my Louisiana accent. And let me tell you, his eyes were really that BLUE.
Amazing couple. In 2020, Joanne Woodward has become the oldest living Best Actress Oscar winner after the passing of Olivia de Havilland. That's my trivia for the day.
She ought to have another one, for Rachel, Rachel. And, Newman should have two as well, to include either Hud or Cool Hand Luke. Outstanding actors, both. And, true humanitarians.
I miss Paul Newman. What a great human being. His products at the store for his Newman dressing and his Newman pizza are still helping people with money toward their needs! A prestigious actor too along with his wife! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love how overjoyed and surprised Paul and Joanne looked when Robert Redford said who was going to perform for them and them you see them crying as the performance is happening and it just brings a smile to my face.
It helps restore your hope for humanity that the most gorgeous man to ever walk the planet could stay with his wife all those years. Amazing couple Joanne was an incredible actress as well
I fell in love with Paul Newman when I was about 14 years old. I didn't realize what a terrific actor he was until I was in my mid 20's. I just remember thinking (after watching him on the movie screen for the first time) that he was the most beautiful man I had ever seen. I'm 73 now and I still think the same thing.
I’m 74, and I totally agree with you. I fell in love with him at about the same age as you did, and no other actor ever eclipsed him in my mind for talent or for his classically handsome face or those incredible blue eyes. ❤️
@@googleyeyed5814 My mom was crazy about him. 😊 My father was a sleight-of-hand aficionado, and when _The Sting_ came out he couldn't get to the theater fast enough. I was too young to understand, but everytime I watch it now, I think of my dad. ❤
I love how they put them together...but they were always together ..when I met them in NY, they were together with one of the daughters...they were so sweet and so unhollywood...they truly are a one of the most influential couples of the Arts....Thank u both...
No disrespect to either Sally Field or Robert Redford, but I love that it's so plain that what really moved Woodward and especially Newman was the last four minutes with the Hole in the Wall Camp kids. That's when their eyes lit up. Bless them.
Those kids singing was something to write into the stars. Scream it. Scream his name. Psul Newman. Yell it. Echo in the halls of. Eternity. That is a man.
Watching the kids of the “Hole in the Wall Gang” was beyond moving and demonstrates better than perhaps anything the generosity that is so unique to Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. It was especially touching when Paul wiped the tears from his eyes at the end. His humanity and love for others less for fortunate is genuine.
I have always bought Paul Neuman's products whenever I could just to contribute in my own small way to his generous foundation. Thanks Paul and JoAnn and to your children who still are a part of this organization.
I'm very proud to live in CT, the home to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. It's in a very beautiful corner of CT. Recently, a fire destroyed buildings/property which miraculously has been built back up with donations. He was a truly remarkable man, living his last days in CT. Thank you Mr. Newman and Mrs. Newman for your outpouring of love and generosity to others.

Paul Newman was in his Tiger Sunbeam sitting in his car waiting for the signal to change. We were both stopped on Franklin. His car was moving towards east, my car was moving towards west. Before the cars moved I looked at my left side and there was Paul Newman wearing a cap hat. I told my mom, Jane, there's Paul Newman. He was driving to Beechwood Street. Yes his eyes were bright blue eyes. That same day mom and I drove to the Market on 3rd and Fairfax. "The Verdict"... I've watched it so many times, and I think it's time to watch it again. What a performance. At times you forget that it's Paul Newman because he becomes that down and out alcoholic who has to look outside of himself to expose the TRUTH while absorbing the injustice that was done to someone else.
@@dawnette245 He should have won the Oscar for “The Verdict,” but he was robbed. They finally gave it to him a year or two later, for “The Color of Money.”
