I have a street legal frame and was thinking about putting this engine in but on the fence of cutting the mounts and moving them don't really want to. have not decided what im really going to do with the bike I just know iv wanted to do one for a wile but this was to cheep to pass up still would like to change some things
Dang, that is some tall gearing! Stock is 14-45 and 1st is still pretty tall. Thinking of going to a 15-48 like this guy's other bikes but I am 90% offroad.
@@gunnermitchell7339 Actually have 2 sets of wheels the 38 has a cush hub That's just my dual sport gearing the xr has stupid low internal gearing so I can't get away with it. It gives me 5400 rpm at 65 mph and still pulls great for passing in top gear 6000 rpm is 70mph. I can also still ride mild single track no problem and even power wheelie if I stand up and yank while leaning back it will come right up. The pumper carb helps with instant throttle response. For off-road I change my wheels and run tubeless with 15-44 or 14-44 for the real nasty stuff. I built my xr to be damn near the perfect dual sport. She does track days, commute days, highway days, technical single track days and I even road the first 3 days of the Tour of idaho would have gone further but I blew up my groin and could no longer mount the bike 😡. I am set to go to moab end of this month but need to get on the ball and order a new skid plate.

Stock gearing has 5th pretty low on the street but I ride a lot of tight single track and don't want my 1st gear any taller. Also, have a 650r as my long-distance bike. Going to be building my 400r into the perfect do-it-all bike though as well.
Whenever you let them sit I think oil kind of gets into the cylinder and that’s the reason they smoke after letting them sit If you just top off oil sometimes then it’s alright usually
I have xr 250r 1999 but my bike has old frame !! My question is how to make it electric conversion so that i can i start it with self start and does it bother to takes any stress to my bikes engine or not ? What can be done !!
Iv never hard of anyone doing a 250 electric start only way I could see it working is if you got your self a trx250x engine and modifieing your frame to fit that engine. I know with the 400s you can take a the one side of a 400ex bottom end and crank and put the xr400 kick start side on said bottom end and have an electric start/kick start or do what the guy did to this bike and just slap a 400ex engine in a xr400 frame and go but as for the 250 never heard of anyone doing it

I'm gonna take my E-start XR400 to the grave. Converted mine 3 years ago. It's my dual sport and I love it. Mine has a 416 big bore and 16-38 gearing.

Hey I have a 03xr400 how did you do the estart on it? I’m trying to get mine to have an estart

If you just top off oil sometimes then it’s alright usually
Or water from condensation it happened with me my 250r XR smoked once only I shat my self it had sat all winter and in UK
