5 Invasive Species In Continental Europe
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 июл 2024
- In todays invasive species episode we will be heading to continental Europe. I have already been through a few of the main invasive species in Europe but in todays video I will be going through 5 completely new invasive species found in Europe. The invasive species in Europe can cause damages by spreading disease and preying on native species.

For our first invasive species we will be heading over to China and Japan as we have the raccoon dog. The raccoon dog is not actually closely related to the raccoon but is a member of the canine family. The raccoon dog was imported for the cruel fur trade but has now become invasive.
For our next invasive species we will be heading to the freshwaters of Asia as we have the topmouth gudgeon. The topmoputh gudgeon is a small member of the carp family that breeds very quickly. The topmouth gudgeon is now invasive over many parts of Europe.
For our next invasive species we will be heading to Africa as we have the African sacred ibis. The African sacred ibis is named so as it was part of the ancient Egyptian religion. The African sacred ibis was imported into Europe to be displayed in zoos but soon escaped and there are thought to be more than 3000 in Europe today.
For our next invasive species we will be staying in Africa as we have the African clawed frog. The African clawed frog is very popular in the aquarium trade and has been used in scientific research for years. The African clawed frog is a known carrier of many diseases and fugus.
For our final invasive species we will be heading to north America as we have the common raccoon. The common raccoon is a very intelligent mammal that does very well in both forested and urban areas. If the common raccoon continues to spread it has the potential to be the worst invasive species in Europe.
If you have any more video suggestions then let me know in the comments below?
Thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed :) Животные
Somewhere in Germany a Racoon and a Tanuki/Racoon-dog are having a very confused staredown right now.
Great video! And yes can confirm racoons are crafty. Went camping with friends, we had food in a cooler with a "locking lid" and put rocks on the cooler lid (no bears in the area, but we knew there were racoons). We weren't going to be gone for a long time, thought we were safe. Nope! The racoons had removed the rocks, opened the lids and were helping themselves to our hotdogs. They also just sat there eating when we came back and looked at us like "what are YOU gonna do punks?". Lesson learned.
lol My aunt kept her dogs food outdoors, in a locked container and when the raccoons discovered it they not only ate their fill of dog food, they stared her down and chased her away :o
How about you take the invasive species back to their homeland where they can reproduce and put their world back under control
Here’s what I think seeing as invasive species have no Predators outside their habitat Why not take the species Away from the places they don’t belong and put them back in the places they do belong However if there are human settlements in their habitat we need to stop breeding ourselves So that way we can rebuild the habitats for the invasive species actually belong and take them from where they were introduced to where they are native
There’s definitely a love-hate relationship with raccoons in North America.
How can you not love that cute face and that craftiness, but at the same time that craftiness means they cause a lot of trouble and mayhem in cities, suburbs, and campsites.
I know I absolutely love them and think they're very cute but then again i don't have to deal with them going through my garbage
@@TsukiCove If you are ever faced with that problem than get a air rifle and wait at the trashcan. It's handy after you do the job close to the can and the trash truck will haul it off. Use rubber gloves because they maybe cute but they are very dirty.
There is no love. They are terrible
Would be cool if you could do invasive species of the worlds oceans!
that is a very good suggestion, I've already covered a few but i think it could be a good idea to dedicate a whole video to the subject Thanks for the suggestion :)
@@TsukiCove no problem :)
Raccoons are cool. We often call them trash pandas here.
Hi and very grateful for another great video! And about invasive species, I have a suggestion. Here in Brazil, in the 80s, there was a little frenzy about the "African scargot", Achatina fulica. Many people started to create them, convinced that they would profit a lot...
Kits with forty little snails and a video were sent all over the country. First-time breeders would soon discover that there was no market and ended up releasing their "babies" into nature. And it was disastrous.
The full story is much more interesting. In case you are interested, I followed everything first hand. And once again, thanks!
Thank you for the support :) I didn't actually know that, I will do a little research on the subject thank you for the suggestion
@@TsukiCove That happened here in Thailand too. The African Giant Land Snails are everywhere now in large numbers. In my garden I have to kill hundreds of them every year... they reproduce like crazy. I dont think they are bad for nature though, as some birds and animals eat them, and they don't seem to outcompete native snails (still have them too in my garden). The only problem they cause is to humans as they eat crops, vegetables, fruits and garden plants.... so costing us money. At least they don't appear to be damaging the ecosystem at all.
@@jase123111 Well buddy, if you have hundreds of giant african snails in your garden every year, and some native snails, I don't think you have to think very hard about which one is doing better, and what will happen when there are thousands of them in your garden yearly instead of hundreds.
I love that you always have new animals to talk about....lately you've added some animals I've never even heard of 😵 thank you for the huge variety you showcase!!!
Keep up the great content my man!
Thanks man will do :)
This list is very cool! As a European and animal lover, I'd also like to add that the red eared slider, several species of catfish and garter snakes have been established in my country as invasive species as well.
I just found your channel, it is really awesome and I can't wait to binge watch it, keep up the good work! :)
Raccoons can also decimate turtles and their eggs, making endangered turtles even ore threatened for extinction.
African clawed frogs, or "platannas" as we call them, are amazing when trying to catch African sharptooth catfish or "barbel/baber" as we call them.
I love your content btw. I get genuinely excited every time I see a new video.
I've been growing up in the german countryside and can confirm raccoons where a massive hastle. My neighbor had 3 big dogs that where total dorks to any human but hated these guys with a burning passion. He had to call wildlife services more than once because his dogs ripped one to shreds that hasn't got the memo that the yard was not to be trespassed. Not a pleasant experience I can imagine.
Just in time to accompany my Saturday breakfast. Always love your videos to start the day.
Cheers man.
I love that you've branched out from just fish, keep up the great work!
Let's get to it !!! Can't wait to see the video!!!
I have been waiting for this!!!
Really enjoyed this video
Not to mention, raccoons don’t hibernate so they’re active all winter long
I'd love to see one on the Great Lakes! Also, focusing on different rivers could be cool, and I'm sure each major river could make it's own episode.
Nice job man 👍. I think a good idea for the next episode could be 5 invasive species in the Mediterranean.
I’m wondering will you do a invasive species video for South America along with the rest of the continents?
yes i think i will, it's hard to find the info for some countries/continents but i will give it a try
@@TsukiCove Ah okkie
@@TsukiCove Should include the Pablo Escobar hippos
Awesome channel. New sub here. Keep up the good work with all the videos. Peace from Sweden
Wow great list 👍 unfortunately like you said they are causing havoc in these places!! Thanks for the video cause some of those animals I've never heard of one of them the raccoon dog!
Hello from Germany! I very much enjoy your content. Could you cover the Smallmouth bass and Largemouth Bass in Europe?
Great video as always! Have you considered covering the Rhea population in Germany or the Hippos in Colombia or other unusual invasive cases like these¿¿¿
@@SnazzySki98 but they've been growing in numbers enough recently to be considered invasive I thought ¿
Great Content Bro
thanks alex i appreciate it :)
@@TsukiCove How About Invasive Species In Australia?
First time i see my Country in one of your video:)
big love from singapore was hoping we could get one about invasive species in singapore
The United States: “Yeah, we got our fair share of invasive species, especially down here in Flo-
*Raccoons are an invasive species in Germany.*
The United States:
It would be interesting to hear about invasive species on island habitats scattered throughout the world since some of those ecosystems can be decimated by even a single invasive animal. Besides the usual rats, cats, farm animals and rabbits, there are some interesting ones like certain kinds of birds, crab eating macaques and stuff.
I would say the racoon DOGS don't do too much damage. They are not really able to climb trees to raid birds nests and they eat mostly insects, and small animals that can reproduce quickly and are found in abundance. The racoons are much worse.. they could easily devastate native wildlife as they are much more agile, predatory and reproduce in larger numbers.
good job tsuki
I saw alot of sturgeons in your videos these days and i wamted to aak if you could do a 5biggest sturgeons list or something like that they are very interesting i think, for example bc one of your videos i learned that beluga sturgeons can be as big as white sharks
4:08 that looks exactly like the Aussie White Ibis!
I have worked for an organisation that gives shelter, rehabilitation and transfer for exotic mammals. All year round we had so many raccoons
Red Ear Sliders, Musquash, sunfish and ring-necked parakeet could be a 2nd video.
Could you do invasive species and endangered species in Missouri
How about Invasive Species in Antarctica. They exist, mainly on the peninsula. Mostly plants
Please do a video about endangered species or invasive species in India
Do invasive ungulates in Texas or Southwest US!
Don’t forget the comb jelly which is one of the worst invasive species on the planet and has devastated the Black Sea, and even causing famines of sea food.
Tanuki are so cute
Hi a Canadian here how about a species that is invasive to other countries but is our national bird . It’s death to planes and golf course every were I’m talking about the Canada goose. Great videos
Hi, cool vid just want to say xenopus laevis in Africa is commonly called a common platanna
5 Invasive species in Spain 😳😳
@@ramenlover1727 And thank u British for absolutely nothing 😎🤙🤙
@@ramenlover1727 It literally conquered all America except Canada and part of the US east coast.
Also we conquered the Philippines and all the Pacific Islands, also Cuba and all the islands of the gulf of Mexico. And we also have had Flanders, Naples, Sicily and part of Germany.
Second attempt at asking Tsuki to please 🙏make a video about invasive species in Colombia and / or Brazil for the next episode. If so, I’ll become a member of the channel (even if it’s not possible yet) 👀
Some invasive species of Brazil are:
•Elk (Cervus unicolor)
•Hare (Lepus capensis)
•Beaver (Castor canadensis)
The frog is very cool
Endemic and endangered animals of australia: trout cod, only exists in a few rivers
Spotted qoull: deforestation and introduced species limit this to small spots In the great divining range
Any galaxid
Macquarie perch: same boat as trout cod and I have videos of them you can use
Plenty of cockatoo species and same with other marsupial and mammals
There would be some endangered birds of paradise too and always the Tassie devil, the world's largest freshwater crustateon and plenty more
please do a vid on the germanshepard and variants. white to black to standard. small and large.
You forgot about north american mink, the most widespread and destructive alien specie in Europe.
4:08 ah yes the sacred bin chicken
fresh
The invasive species in Australia and Hawaii.
Racoon dogs sound like fluffy pushover coyotes.
I had a group of 6 of the raccoon dogs they are such an amazing animal and its was great to work with them and such a shame there invasive there's some up in Wales in England
Invasive of Brasil, pombo, pardal, bico de lacre, tilápias, bagre africano
I personally would like to see how the raccoons would react and interact with the raccoon dogs
I remember last year as I went to the golf court where there were many birds and lush wildlife. It was true paradise and I see these sacred ibises co existed along with the birds like Asian openbill storks and cattle egrets. Presumably they comes out from the country’s popular zoo in my country and make their way to the golf court of this area. I do afraid that the native birds will be out competed, turns out. They can’t compete against the natives birds due to being weaker and are kept in numbers. I can hope that they will only stays only in the wetlands of the golf court and don’t flew out somewhere. The sacred ibis is also can get very intelligent and can even sneak up to steal food from humans to some point.
The racoon dog, evolution has taken a turn .🍬
I’m so glad that dwarf frogs weren’t invasive for a second I thought the clawed frog was a dwarf frog
Hey, i have a question! You seem to know a lot about invasive species. I am making a tier list of the best freshwater fish that are common in the aquarium hobby. What is your opinion about the common carp? They are an ancestor of koi carps and, to some degree, common goldfish. Why are they listen as vulnerable? They seem to be very invasive. Are carps well adapted even though they are listed as vulnerable?
they are invasive in other areas but in their native habitat they are subject to habitat loss
I miss the muskrat and nutria in this vid …
The lionfish is taken over cyprus and soon the world.....
How about cats as an invasive species brought to Europe thousands of years ago?
Well, now ve have this crab in europe, especially italy, that is the blue crab from america and comes from american ships
Top five invasive in Jamaica
Australian invasive species list pls
Could you pls do something about germany?
Funny thing I see those frogs in the pet store and they look goofy
I think the 3000 estimate for the Sacred Ibis is very far from the truth. They've sadly spread all over northern Italy, an you can see flocks of hundreds foraging in fields and wetlands.
Hey hey ☺️ hope all is well my friend!!! Hey ARNIE 💕
All is well :) I hope you're doing okay too! Arnie says hi like always
@@TsukiCove I'm doing 👍 great ...
african clawed frogs are super derpy
I wanna raccoon dog coat
what about hawaii invasives? there are loads of birds
It always scares me how many escaped animals from human activities wether farms or pets turn invasive and manage to thrive where no one thought they would :( I didn't realize how many fur farms operated in Europe, is it still the case?
As a hunter I don’t see why besides the fish which is difficult to deal with they aren’t on a kill on sight list like mink are
But it turns out it is difficult. They have been trying to poison, hunt and trap the Mink from the UK for years and their numbers are still growing. Same with the grey squirrel. They preproduce too fast and are found over such a large area that is it impossible to find each one to kill them, so we have to resort to trying to control their numbers instead of wiping them out.
Surprised you didn’t list cats, dogs, humans, rats, ect...
I watch one piece and I'm now SHOOK raccoon dogs are a real thing.. I thought they called chopper that just because...
Do a video on invasive species in India
OREWA OCHINCHIN GA DAISUKI NANDAYO
Do invasive Species in Jamaica
How are the snakeheads getting on mate?
he sadly had to rehome them
Please make a video on Invasive species in India....
Raccoons 🦝 are cute.
A frig
Remember guys, discard your tanuki suits ethically
4:51 ONE MORE CM PLS
Where are the raccoon dogs found in Europe right now ?
Do Invasive Plants?
This intro is beginning to sound NOSTALGIC to me
Also pls make "extinct species in...."
i would love to do that series but it's pretty impossible as there's not images or footage i can use for half of the species unfortunately
