  • My first attempt at Lingcod fishing! I have lots to learn but am excited to get back out there in a short while and try again. Might need to head further north in the Puget Sound for consistency. Sure if fun though. As always thanks for watching!

Forget the bridge. Much better ling fishing between the lighthouse and salmon beach. A few shipwrecks in that area. 80-120 feet. Use your electronics! The mouth of the train tunnel can be outstanding at times in close, when there's a candlefish spawn happening.

Great vid. Tiny bit of advice for ling fishing- the smaller the dab the better. Think the size of a smart phone as ideal size. Also those sculpin are probably the best bait you can use no matter the size. Keep your line straight up and down as much as possible. That new finder is unreal! That’s a game changer! Keep the vids coming!

@@kensfishingtails yessir- im no expert and definitely don’t want to come off as know it all guy in the comment section. I fish A9/10 and am seasoned but still learning. Anyway, I enjoy your vids! Been watching them for a year or two now. Been thinking about doing the same for a minute in my area. Take care and keep going! Last bit of advice on lings- small bait means quicker to inhale…. Bigger bait means it gets chewed on before swallowing. Keep that in your back pocket and be observant of the difference. If fishing a smaller bait I’m rod in hand ready to reel. Fishing a dab even if it’s small like a phone, rods usually in a holder and I won’t touch it until rod tip is buried in the water. Lings are magicians at turning the bait in their mouth for a minute or three before swallowing it. Easy to reel up all the way to the netting process and they simply just let go. Let them chew it and swallow it will result in more ling on the deck

Thanks, I believe this was my mistake with the hookup in this video. I immediately started applying to much pressure while the ling was still trying to get his mouth around my dab. I’m going out tomorrow, about 6 miles north of the Narrows. Hopefully I can make a video of my first Ling haha. I will target smaller bait as well.
Hit me on my email in my bio section if you have any questions about putting videos up. I have a lot of fun just reviewing my footage and laughing at my mistakes! It really helps to learn though, just like a football team watching their replays.
