Planting trees is like a gift to future generations. I can imagine Squish (and any other future grand-kids) stealing apples, sitting in the shade and saying "Our Oma planted these trees". Hope they are fruitful and provide you with many apple pie fillings.
I’ve been alone since my husband dies 3 years ago. I help out with my four grandchildren ages from 1yr to 11yrs every now and then and love every minute I spend with them, BUT, I always make sure I have my own friends and interests and I don’t rely on family alone. I also support my father aged 92. I am your age. My house to do list seems to get longer the more jobs I do and tick off🤦🏼♀️😂😂 We are having such an awful summer here in the UK that it’s impossible to get out in the garden to do much so indoor hobbies help!😂😂🇬🇧
I grew away from friends years ago. Then lost all career friends when I sold the salon. I have isolated myself completely… a huge mistake, I know.
I have aleays found it to be therapeutic to watch someone else work - and that has been long before RUclips! I am amazed at how much you do and love the way you often see the humor in the most challenging situations. Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing your days with us!☺️💕

Taking care of your little one is such a blessing but there will be adjustments over the years for both of you. Whenever my kids took a day off or got off early and picked my grandchild up at school instead of me , she said "wheres nana?" Very unhappily. 2020 brought a lot of changes as my daughter started working from home and has continued with that. I still did school pickup but my granddaughters and my private time forever changed and we both felt it. Of course we have all adjusted. Sometimes i stay and visit with both of them, sometimes just my grandaughter and i go somewhere for awhile after school. She often sleepsover at nana's and i kid and dogsit at thier house when her parents take a trip. Shes almost 15 and i will have another adjustment whenever she starts to drive. I dont regret a second of it all.

You energy astounds me. You're a great help to your son and daughter-in-law. As for missing squish, you both may need a rest once in a while as she may be going to preschool and you will have to be brave. Get out a good book or a puzzle or just sit outside and relax. Life is to short.

Hi! Great job on the caulking! It really looks nice. One suggestion for future caulking jobs is to use painters tape - pull the tape off and have a nice straight line. 🤷🏻♀️

Very good job planting and caulking! Well, to use an expression I never hear you say anymore…frickin’, frackin’, fruit loops! I hadn’t thought about Nicki being off for the summer meaning you would be too. 😭 I’m afraid you’re going to get in some trouble with Michael “helping” them out while they’re on vacation. 😳 So do what you did before Squish, go to interesting places that you video and post daily 😉 so we can come along too! Totally looking out for you and not selfishly trying to live vicariously through you! 🤷🏼♀️😀💕

Life is about remaking ourselves. Once their house and your house are done, there won’t be this busyness. At some point the baby will go to preschool, and you won’t see her as much. You made a choice to live in an isolated place with no like aged adults. Now is the time to develop a passion, or at the very least, find an activity or two that brings you into contact with ladies your own age. Best thing I ever did was find a hobby. After our grandchildren went to school full time, I had to reinvent myself again, but I already had an anchor. My hobby. My husband is still a bit lost without the kids. He reads a book a week, and keeps busy, but he has nothing that he’s passionate about. Other than me. He needs it. You will too.
It is going to be a challenge. Ongoing and ever changing.
It's late. You have a piece of uncooked chicken in the fridge, so you unwrap it and to save time, you cut it up into small pieces, maybe shake a little garlic powder on it, salt, pepper and then toss the chicken pieces into a little hot oil sizzling in a pan.
The chicken wrapper goes in the trash, you soap up your hands and scrub them raw, and make a mad dash back to stir the chicken pieces.
Finally, it's done, and you've made a quick salad to go with it. The meal is fast, uncomplicated, good, filling, and you're getting sleepy. A quick wash and rinse of a few dirty dishes, etc. and you're off to bed.
A full tummy and sleep hold hands until morning, and you stretch and yawn while you visit the bathroom and do your morning routine.
Finally, you're on the hunt for a cup of coffee, but as you enter the kitchen, your lungs fill with a noxious odor that has now crept into every corner of the house. Immediately, you recognize it.
That chicken wrapper has performed its magic and become the most vile stink on earth.
Now I wonder, if a chicken wrapper can smell that putrid overnight, what is that chicken doing down there in your guts?
This requires serious pondering. Does the word fowl have some sinister meaning? Is this "food" meant for human consumption?
Are we actually eating things that fall out of a chicken's butt? Are those things potentially chicken children? Are we . . .murderers?
Just a little food for thought. 💕💕💕

The cats would love it. They enjoy sprawling out all over projects while you make them. Something to keep you busy while the long, hot summer drones on and on.

I was mulling over my to-do list. It was easier to just set it on fire and toss it in the fire pit. All gone. So now I'm caught up.
I will admit, I do have a different way of doing things.

I'm sure someone will come up with something interesting. Of course, there’s always belly dancing!

I knit. I crochet. I have made hundreds of slippers over the years. Maybe just a phase but I can’t sit still that long right now. LOL I took belly dancing lessons years (decades) ago. Cats are always in hiding these days with the construction going on. I need to just start walking and not turn around until early August!

I'm looking forward to the eye liner video. I've tried a good few over time, and powder ones too, they were all either too wet (kinda like the young ones wear!) too dry, or barely left any colour on! So I'll be interested to see this one. Great job on the tree planting, superwoman! 🙂

Hi, Margaret. You have so much energy. I was proud of myself for painting my bird bath today. I have trouble digging so leave that to one of my sons. Hope you don’t let depression take over, been there, did that and have never really been able to shake it off. Hope you had a nice warm bath of some sort. Looking forward to next post😊

Hello Margaret! I'm very impressed with your digging a hole capabilities. Great job, twice. I know you love doing things for them. Oh great caulking job too. I hate it when you need a shower & can't take one. But washing your hair in sink & washing your body like I suppose they did in the old days maybe. It works. What they do when you've had surgery or in the hospital which I hope never happens to you. I also imagine except when M & N are gone they'll still need you while they go shopping or just an evening to themselves maybe. You know Nikki will bring the Squish over or have you there while she & M do things in the house. Have a fantastic week as I know you'll accomplish a lot. Take care of that finger. ❤

We had a shower similar & said it needed to be called but were told not to bc it's made that way to have it open to allow any moisture to dry out and by sealing it up it would cause a leak behing the fiberglass. It became a nightmare so we had it torn out & replaced with tile. 😂🤣👌

Took her to all her activities, I went to all her school parties etc and boom, one day my daughter takes her and moved 1200 miles away, I’ve been a basket case for 5 years now. It doesn’t get any easier. I’m dead inside. Nikki won’t keep you from being active in Squishes daily life. You will find ways to stay busy on days you don’t have her. It’s a very difficult adjustment, but you’re right there. When they move into the house and you in yours, that precious baby girl will be running to Oma’s house.
