In their defense, they are being pushed by governments, especially in California, to sell these complicated and finicky variable speed motors to reduce electric consumption. For myself, I prefer the simple toggle switched two speed motors. The low speed only draws 3 amps compared to the 10 amps at high speed. And they don't have that ridiculously expensive computer controller that gets fried all the time with lightning. With properly balanced water, I never run the pump on high for daily circulation. Keeps the electric bill WAY down. I use high speed to backwash, vacuum to waste, recirculate and so on. Which is not too often. I lube EVERY fastener on my pumps with anti-seize!
What a pain has Pentair become, all these for something that used to take 10m, this is crazy and unneccesary, also all new 3 version pumps with the extra time to programming thru the app, Im a Pool company in Naples florida, and I'll probably stop using pentair, they keep changing providers, contractors and a pool is supposed to be Simple, but they are making it to complex now.
Try doing this in the field
Thank you!
