- This video discusses how to remove the pool pump safely from service to then remove the motor from the unit so the the motor can be inspected and if need be separately repaired in the event of an over current error. In some cases this error is caused by a motor issue, due to a failed rear bearing, in other cases its an electronic failure due to the controller board.

Thank you for your two Pentair Intelliflo pool pump videos. Watched both and enjoyed the lesson learned, no more Pentair Pumps.
Glad you like them!
Those motors are sealed, the most common bug its bad driver.
I am a Pentair warranty center here in the caribbean, here lots of cases i work are driver related, second are mechanical seals. Try out the hi temp universal male adapter. They have orings and no need of sealants usable and reliable!! Good luck
I would expect that the motor would turn freely with impeller off and the seal unloaded. The impellers outboard wear ring looks like it ran dry a few times. Been there done that myself. Good luck with the rebuild!
I'll tell you that the findings are such that there would have been some wearable items replaced in the motor, unfortunately it was not THE cause of failure in this unit.
HI, do you the size of the grounding screw for the intelliflo pentair. My old one was 10-32 and wasn't the correct size. Do you happen to know the correct size. Seems a bigger screw.
It was off as soon as you hit the breaker. The screen was still on due to the battery backup. The battery backup last 90 hours.
Interesting.... I will have a look on the board again for the battery
Thank you for making this video.
Do you feel you could have removed the drive unit / motor from the wet side without cutting the pool plumbing?
No, because the PVC fitting was screwed into the pump and the other side of the fitting was glued. There is simply no way unless another inline coupler is used.
Should have had half unions installed
is there a part 2?
There is, but its a complicated issue, and im putting it together because its not just simply a motor issue
Next time you can just take the 3 screws off of the control panel and lift the electronics right off, then go do your repair and put it back.
This assumes you know the motor is not the issue.
@@retrotechandelectronics No, it lets you work on the mechanics of the pump without unwiring the unit.
9/16 is that size Of screws 😉 15 mil want to strip screw…
Only one size will fit correctly/
My rear fan doesn't turn.. I guess that's bad huh?
Could be just a bearing
It is a good idea install pool pumps using threaded unions, so you don’t need to cut pipes and search for glue, every time!
Im fond of the piped with the rubber o rings on the face that can be unscrewed, they work well too.

I cannot get the impeller off it is too tight. Ideas?
