I think when Matt first announces Sam’s return, you can see Laura beginning to cry. She missed playing D&D with her friend.
Edit: So apparently Sam has been dealing recovery from tonsil cancer. So this is actually them seeing their family member coming back to form. No wonder the tears came.

I like to think Sam only told Matt that he was cancer free and recovery and so not only is this triumphant return to CR but also the most exciting way to tell the rest of his friends that hes okay (plus would it really be sam without that flair for the dramatic)
Only a jackass would keep dear friends in suspense about their possibly life-threatening condition so as to help build suspense for a show they all work on. Try to remember that they were all close friends before playing a game together, and before they started broadcasting said game to us. Do you really "like to think Sam only told Matt that he was cancer free," as if he wouldn't say anything to the rest of his friends? Do you think he was holding back news of his well-being for a character bit? This take is beyond bizarre.
@@cromwell620yeah, it’s more likely they knew he was ok, he likely only told Matt he was ready to come back already though.
He was publicly announced as appearing at the live show beforehand though.
They probably all already knew he was gonna be there/what his recovery status was. I don't think he'd keep it from his close friends. But, it would still emotional to actually see him return to the table.

I dont know it just kinda feels gimmicky like it was just for the live show and he might not stick with Bells Hells going forward.
He seems to be pretty aligned with them against Ludinus and the Ruby Vanguard, it doesnt seem far fetched for him to stick around to me

@@gregjenkinson7512 i see what you mean, i think we just need a bit more time to learn who he is. Atm all we really know is a basic motivation, his deity, and his build. I think the more time we spend with him the more of a fleshed out character he'll feel.
@@SyberSmoke68 maybe. Might also be that there was a lot going on in this episode so we didn't really get a chance to understand what the character is like.
Like when Sam introduced Darrington in campaign 1 and Talesin introduction Clay in Campaign 2 a decent part of the episode was spent getting to know who they were and what they were like.
