Omygod same!! I started working on facial structures a couple of days ago and I've seen so many images involving the planes that I can *see* them on people faces, and I also understand it a lot more lol

This is so helpful! I'm into anime and such and I don't do realism, but you have no idea how much this helps me with understanding 3d shapes. So many other YTubers don't even mention HALF of the stuff I found in this video. I hope you continue this series because it's well worth it!❤

It’s better to start from realism and then progress your way to manga style, with that, you will be able to stylize your faces even more and exaggerate it since you have a good understanding of its structure.
In my case, I started doing more of a comic style, then manga, then comic again and now realism..because of this I am having difficulties throughout my art journey, however I am making progress..now that I understand more about the anatomy of the face I’m able to apply more and more detail to my faces OR simplify them and make them look more stylized, it is quite fun.
Honestly though, I am not a fan of realistic art at all, in fact I usually only sketch with a pen with no erasing..I’ve been doing this for years now and I’ve gotten used to it, but because of realistic art I’ve improved so I do not regret studying them.

starting off with the basic structure as you would see in realism will help you not only in exaggerating faces to fit a certain style, but also to draw those faces in different angles.
