Loved the positivity from the show this morning! Thank you Tom. I think it doesn’t help with how frustrated we are with Arsenals transfer activity, and it doesn’t help with the result not going so well on top. But we have a manager who can turn this all round, I’m just hoping the board back him this month 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Thank you, the season is long and we have five months left. We are two down in the game with Newcastle at halftime, the tie is not lost yet. You have to believe anything is possible. Just imagine Churchill saying will we surrender on the beaches, we will try to limit casualties instead of that famous speech he made. Sometimes I feel some of our supporters are almost waiting for something to get down about. We have finished second in the last two seasons, we have matched Liverpool in form in the last calendar year. I often think have the fans are asking for transfers not because the club has to bring in anyone, just so they can shut their mate up that supports team x. I will support and believe Arsenal can win everything until we can’t. My friend and Arsenal supporter believes that while watching a match if we didn’t believe when we were losing that we could win it’s pointless even being a supporter. Is that irrational delusional not the most beautiful part of being a fan?

Well Tom , just on the question about those who want Arteta out, I must admit there is a couple of fans I know that have been some of the most positive fans I've ever meet that have recently asked me the question has Arteta took the team and club as far as he can take them and my answer was I don't know. Like them I love Arteta and what he has done for the club and fans but I also think it's a convention that will have to be had. This thing about sack him now is madness, half way through a season and second in the league , there is still alot of silverware to play for and everyone could feel different come may but if we fail to push on then it's a fair conversation to have because my huge worry is if some of our really big players are not seeing the progress that they desire then they could be tempted away by a bigger club and that would put all that progress we made back big time.
Sami Mokbel suggesting that Arsenal might sign a stopgap to the injured Saka. I don't know what would constitute a stop gap signing. But after the previous 2 if not 3 transfer windows I'm a ravenous seagull when it comes to attacking signings, and will be appeased for at least half a week with anything even if it's the footballing equivalent of a mildewy corn kernel. Great show again TC! My view on this is that I still back Mikel and the board, and also I think people need to remember it was only a few years ago when Arsenal had to cancel player contracts because of poor moves in the market. As a fan base let's not keep thinking in Football Manager terms and start thinking in 2-4 year contract cycles
Good show Tom but I think we are at a crucial time for Arsenal if we do not win anything this year we will have serious issues. 1) Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea will be better next year 2) Not making a move this January that is really impactful will show a lack of ambition 3) Next year when a lot of key players will be coming up with 1 or 2 years remaining on their contract you will find it hard to convince them to sign contracts without over paying a lot of them running their contract down to make more money. 4) You will have 0 room for error next year with fans and the environment in games that we need fans will awful 5) You are going to have a harder time convincing truly top players to sign. 6) On a commercial front we will be set back again after being in a much better commercial position after at least the last 15 years 7) Arsenal recently had started attracting back younger fans in droves oversees which is a big deal for the future of the club that we will be set back in again. 8) Players are already starting to appear Ill disciplined and this will increase because their frustrations will increase as well 9) you will start having a happy camp turn into a fractious one. As a long time Arsenal fan I am worried that is we do not make the right moves and really get into gear now this project will be set back at least 3 or 4 years.

So again are you saying for instance a trip to an already relegated Southampton is the same as a Southampton fighting for points? Or here’s another. City last year already have the league wrapped up as opposed to being in a title fight. One game will be naturally harder and you know which. At the end of the day football doesn’t work like that. We don’t even know some of the behind the scenes scenarios that affect a football club, not everything gets out. If Liverpool maintain this form losing only one or two more game in the league, then will you accept that he “harder schedule” is not real?
Tom great stuff. Any news on if Vieira is now a possibility to get recalled with the Ethan injury? I feel like he is barely playing and like it or not he is still someone who can easily make our match day squad and knows the EPL enough to make a difference in cameo appearances. In terms of a loan move I doubt it could be considered successful so far - so why not just take the bullet and bring him back in. Maybe once he is back Martinelli will be back to his best because they are best mates! - like the Ozil/Flamini dynamic lol.
We must have some top TOP players on our list that have release clauses, they are the one's I'd pay for if there's nobody of that quality available in the open market. We need bodies but we need them to be top TOP bodies, so if that costs us a few quid it always would, so spend it now and get the player in.
@Thegoonertalk, If Thomas Rosicy was available and City and Liverpool or any big teams of top 4 leagues wanted a SD will they consider Thomas Rosicy. As you say we should go for only quality players.why not quality Sporting Director. The sample size for Rosicy is small. As you said there are quality SP available like one from PSG with bigger sample size of his CV.

In all honesty I do think we are out of ideas... especially in the final third.. teams that score against us mostly are more direct with less touches in and around the box . We tend to play our way to the final third and stall .. waiting for the defenders to regroup, which is ridiculous. Use every advantage when you get it and quickly to best utilise the potential scoring prowess within the front line. To summarise it's playing style not the players that's the issue.
We are out of our best players. There is only so much a manager can do with the players they have available at that particular point. Martinellis chance v Newcastle basically was an an open goal chance to score and still missed to score! That isnot the managers fault or as you said " out of ideas".
They look completely out ideas , tactics , play too slow, best players not available, set up with pace go direct. Arsenal well and truly been worked out by most managers by now.
I think Arsenal are doing what Newcastle are going to do, save the money for the Summer so they can go out and [try to] buy their number 1 target. With the money saved they should have Declan Rice levels of money for their one target. However, if their target is Isak, I don't think you'll get him if we qualify for the CL and I can't imagine they're putting their eggs in one basket so what other targets are there? Lautaro Martinez? Boniface? Openda?
I get the criticism. But from what I am reading its like were in the same place as Man United. Sure the team needs to be better at finishing, buy player(s) but its like we are severly ill, witch we are not for a while. So glad on this channel its far from that! Back the club, if there's a bad run, critisise off course but dont act if its the end. Only untill the seasons over you can go off, (if you want)
Tom I don’t have strong feelings towards pro or anti Rosiski . However I disagree with the analogy that if he was strong and getting his way at Sparta means is the same at Arsenal! Financially he would be on a different level here whilst at Sparta he knows he could always get better ! You behave different if you are a big fish in a small pond as opposed to small fish in an ocean! It’s all on owners ! If they are happy they should either support or sack the manager ! It’s not Arteta’s fault for not having players / squad ! Respect 👍
Arteta brought the players he wanted Jesus, Tomi et al and doesn’t even play them…65 mill for Havertz is still a confusing signing on £280k per week….overplayed and overpaid…Saka has been ruined with too many games…Arteta is responsible and needs to improve…what top striker would play under Arteta he would ruin them not improve them…what player has he actually improved 🤔

For me i can't just blame 1 man. I can't believe Arteta has ever gone to the owners and said, we don't need to strengthen this year, save your money, I'll have sterling on loan and not use him.... for me it's more then the manager, sightings can fix our season
@GaryClark-o9p my guess would be, arteta had a list of players they all got rejected to save money, deadline day came so got the only person available in sterling, that's how it looks from hear, but I don't have an agenda so can see bigger picture
@TheGoonerTalkTV your welcome Tom, love your casts, I only sub to you, Highbury Squad and Charles Watts pods, level headed and constructive debates. By the way congratulations on your promotion I'm sure you'll smash it.
Are you seriously asking the fans why Rosicky would be a yes man the fact that he is mates with Arteta is reason enough just like Per please don't insult the intelligence of the viewers that tune into you.
I take it, Bernard, that you never say no to your colleagues & friends then? You're a "Yes Man" to all their demands? If not, why on earth would it be any different for Arteta with Rosicki. We already know he & Edu didn't agree on everything. It would be no different, of course.
The reason why is cause the owners are now happy with the money we get from PL for getting second and the CL money we are exactly where they want us they don't care about winning. If we don't sign 2 player not even 1 there needs to be a push from the fans towards the owners cause the last time we didn't this together they acted. Us as fans got on their side after a few ok windows but now we need to push them again or we are going backwards
@zTom_ I mean in their american teams they have gone out and brought the best players they can and won things but arsenal just seems to be a cash cow to them with no dreams of winning anything
@TheGoonerTalkTV but this is where the fans coming together and putting pressure on them to do it is what's needed. They talk the talk about winning but have no desire to and it's on the fans to keep pushing this club forward
Am so disgusted with arsenal right now. Spurs of all clubs showed more fight, desire and will to win and taking advantage of being at home first. Then you have arteta coming out after the game making excuses about the ball? Ridiculous man.
I can't see Niko Williams coming in to this squad and making a difference. Hes not at the level of any of our wingers. We need to aim higher but I doubt we would make any signings. Rosicky will be great choice. He has Arsenal DNA
Arsenal fans are so entitled and reactionary. We are in a fantastic position, take away the ridiculous amount of injuries and red cards and we'd be way ahead of Liverpool. Why does nobody mention the fact Salah has 80% of Liverpool goals and no injuries. It's so embarrassing sometimes, being a Gooner.
Why do I seem to be the only person in the Gunnerverse who thinks Eze would be a perfect 2 for 1 fit for us? He's a No 10 so that sorts out the Odegaard cover but could also play the Saka position. Why is he not in consideration?
Replace Arteta with his assistant manager, Arteta can’t win Arsenal a major trophy or even any trophy this season. The club did it for the women team and are now performing better.

Nope not on the radar
We must have some top TOP players on our list that have release clauses, they are the one's I'd pay for if there's nobody of that quality available in the open market. We need bodies but we need them to be top TOP bodies, so if that costs us a few quid it always would, so spend it now and get the player in.
No mention of Osimhen? I think he world be a great signing and afforable
Why didn’t anyone else sign him?
@Thegoonertalk, If Thomas Rosicy was available and City and Liverpool or any big teams of top 4 leagues wanted a SD will they consider Thomas Rosicy. As you say we should go for only quality players.why not quality Sporting Director. The sample size for Rosicy is small. As you said there are quality SP available like one from PSG with bigger sample size of his CV.
Why wouldn’t they?
@TheGoonerTalkTV Because there are more experienced candidates available
@@isteevanmangalore9171 Such as?
@@TheGoonerTalkTV Ariedo Braida, with 20 plus years experience with impacting 30 trophies. Luis Campos with 10 years experience. Ralf Ragnick. I know you will see he failed at Manchester United but he didn't fail there as SD with 10 years experience .
@@isteevanmangalore9171 Do you know why Braida left Barca? Campos hasn't succeeded at PSG. Rangnick has a role already.
I'm just throwing numbers around here but Tom would you do 65-70m on Mbeumo if that is what it takes?
Probably not, no. Kvaratskelia being quoted as less so I’d want someone of that stature
Could they be trying to save money for growing the stadium?
We talk about Max one Player even coming in. Thats not enough
What 13th?
"It's like were in the same place as big 20 x title and 3 x UCL winning club Man United"
Sorry to break it to you fella but we're not even close...
@ if you would like to read again what I said then you may reply differently! Coyg
PS if also funny to see how Arteta haters are coming out in force again ! Embarrassing!
Im so confused....how can a fan be called toxic for demanding nothing but the best from the manager an owners...
Depends on how
If we dont sign anybody in attack we are in a top 4 race and kroenkes out should start
Terrible news if arsenal did not buy any player
Arsenal have scrapped the January transfer window themselves 🤣🤣
Please don't give your energy to the trolls Tom. Not only does it clearly raise your blood pressure but it also ruins the viewing experience for us seeing you go tit for tat for 20 minutes with people leaving silly comments. Love the channel, and will continue watching regardless, but thought I'd just let you know my thoughts on it! 🙏
I'm a arsenal fan through and through but if the Chromecast decide not to show no more ambitions in bringing some couple of players in this January transfer window I'm on the limbo of like yeah I've been supporting arsenal for a very long time I'm on the limbo that either way the players will still be getting paid so I'm just going to you know just back off because he's getting way too much year after year no trophy and then still January transfer window is coming in games are coming fake and fast and we have absolute rubbish bench come on
Why do you support Arsenal?
For me i can't just blame 1 man. I can't believe Arteta has ever gone to the owners and said, we don't need to strengthen this year, save your money, I'll have sterling on loan and not use him.... for me it's more then the manager, sightings can fix our season
So who do you think told the owners "Let's have sterling on loan and not use him" then?
@GaryClark-o9p my guess would be, arteta had a list of players they all got rejected to save money, deadline day came so got the only person available in sterling, that's how it looks from hear, but I don't have an agenda so can see bigger picture
@@wallace-81 What phase is Arne Slot in after spending nothing?
(*Here)
@GaryClark-o9p don't care about Liverpool mate, I'm an Arsenal fan.
If the club are not buying players this window, they should just say so. Stop giving vague answers.
I unsubsribed to a few podcasts because of the ranting and raving. So toxic and down hearted all the time. I don't do negativity.
I agree. I want to enjoy football, and enjoy football.
Well thank you for still being here
@TheGoonerTalkTV your welcome Tom, love your casts, I only sub to you, Highbury Squad and Charles Watts pods, level headed and constructive debates. Sorry to say the other channels are way too negative. After the year I've had (major heart operation) it's the last thing I want/need. I love The Arsenal, 18yrs a season ticket holder till I moved to the west country, but there's things more important in life than football. By the way congratulations on your promotion I'm sure you'll smash it.
Are you seriously asking the fans why Rosicky would be a yes man the fact that he is mates with Arteta is reason enough just like Per please don't insult the intelligence of the viewers that tune into you.
That’s pretty ridiculous Bernard.
I take it, Bernard, that you never say no to your colleagues & friends then?
You're a "Yes Man" to all their demands?
If not, why on earth would it be any different for Arteta with Rosicki.
We already know he & Edu didn't agree on everything. It would be no different, of course.
Yeah I don’t buy that at all tbh mate
Never told your friends no? Are you a yes man?
The reason why is cause the owners are now happy with the money we get from PL for getting second and the CL money we are exactly where they want us they don't care about winning.
If we don't sign 2 player not even 1 there needs to be a push from the fans towards the owners cause the last time we didn't this together they acted. Us as fans got on their side after a few ok windows but now we need to push them again or we are going backwards
Agreed, I will be a fan to support other fans if need be
That would be uncharacteristic of the way they manage their clubs.
The Glazers they are not. 🤷🏻♂️
@zTom_ I mean in their american teams they have gone out and brought the best players they can and won things but arsenal just seems to be a cash cow to them with no dreams of winning anything
But Sean that doesn’t track with their other sports?
Who do you think would in Jan?
Kvaratskhelia seems available…
@@indubioproreo5 yeah would be great that
@@TheGoonerTalkTV Maybe Liam Delap or Karim Adeyemi
Transfers, Transfers, Transfers. Arsenal aren’t making any 😅😅😅
😂😂
Hi Tom, I am so sorry you need to put up with so much BS. As my grandmother you to tell me KEEP YOUR PECKER UP 😀
😂😂
I am not an Arteta fan but i am Arsenal fan, sorry Arteta is not good enough, Arteta out
Fancy coming on the show?
@TheGoonerTalkTV sure
Great what’s your socials?
Arsenal fans are so entitled and reactionary. We are in a fantastic position, take away the ridiculous amount of injuries and red cards and we'd be way ahead of Liverpool. Why does nobody mention the fact Salah has 80% of Liverpool goals and no injuries. It's so embarrassing sometimes, being a Gooner.
I feel sorry for you Tom, trying to speak facts and logic to insane people
Why do I seem to be the only person in the Gunnerverse who thinks Eze would be a perfect 2 for 1 fit for us? He's a No 10 so that sorts out the Odegaard cover but could also play the Saka position. Why is he not in consideration?
I think Ode should be an 8 so I would argue Eze could start for us
Replace Arteta with his assistant manager, Arteta can’t win Arsenal a major trophy or even any trophy this season. The club did it for the women team and are now performing better.
😂
I am sorry but
you belong on AFTV comments. And I didnt know the season was over😮😮😮😮
@@moviegooner49 I'll bet you 20 grand that we're not winning the the CL for the first time in our history, the PL for the first time in 21 years, or the Carabao Cup in 34 years this season.
What do you say?
I have a feeling that the Arsenal players are using a deliberate abysmal performance to stop any new signing and are ready to loose more matches anytime the attempt is made to sign a new player
😂😂😂
The club don’t want to win, they like to talk about it but don’t want to BE about it.
No one will be signed this window and they will try to justify it when players come back from injury (too late to do anything this season) and then make out as if they are “New Signings”
We are a “Joke” of a club!
My oh my
