This tutorial is a tremendous resource for the dreaded end of the pipeline. Thanks so much for posting such a long, high quality, info-rich video for free! Unbelievable.
You're welcome! Glad you liked it.
this video is priceless , thanks for sharing it you are an angle in CG thanks man!
Thanks!
There are few such comprehensive tutorials on the market, not to mention such a systematic explanation of the whole process, a great tutorial.
Thank you so much
Thank you for your generousity in making this lesson public.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
And free?! Whaaaaaaat?!
And I definitely agree like making that transition to a full composite seems to be like un-ventured territory on here.
Thanks! I appreciate the comment!
I've been doing CGI for a couple of years now and have never used referrencing. It's sooo useful. Thanks a lot
You're welcome! Yeah, referencing is often the way to go.
@@CGStirk It can also present problems. I've had rendering issues on Deadline, e.g. Importing the references solved that problem. Just be prepared.
@@keithyakouboff8755 What was the error in Deadline?
@@CGStirk It was a while back, maybe... 7 months or more ago? Something about failure to load alembic or something. The referenced file was also an alembic file. When I imported it, it rendered fine.
@@keithyakouboff8755 Interesting. I wonder if that is a Maya bug or something with Deadline.
Dude, very nice organized tutorial touching on the "uncomfortable" part of the 3D pipeline. Keep em' coming brother
Thank you! I appreciate the comment.
Thank you for this! Top quality tutorial here. Really helped me out when compositing my recent Endless Engines entry.
Glad it helped. Good luck with your entry!
@@CGStirk Thank you!
Your lectures are fantastic and thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.
You're welcome! Thank you for your comment!
Just finished the video and I am finally confident enough to work on my own scenes.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
bravo SIR! a true hero.. i enjoyed the tut, and will come again to follow all steps and create my own shot. btw 10 years generalist here..and i learned alot :)
Thanks! Glad you found it useful!
OP Video. I intend to learn through this course a lot. (I just started with Maya/VRay)
I hope you find it useful
nice to see hugh jackman also giving vfx classes
I'll take that as a compliment
Love your work man
Thanks!
is a great lesson ... I watch the video while I do it and I took notes because lots of details. I was surprised that it was a free course but contains so much detail.😝
Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Man you are phenomenal 😍😍😍
Thanks!
nice work only found this course which has all process to make a good and realistic animation .sir you can uplod more tutorials like this.thankyou sir for this type of tutorial.
Thanks. I'd like to do more in the future.
Nice ❤️ all in one part
Thanks
I hope I can make videos like this one day soon!
I'm sure you will
I hope so!@@CGStirk
Thank you very much.
You're very welcome
谢谢!
别客气 !
Thanku Sooooooo Much 😍❤
You're welcome! Thanks!
I love this series! Even though I am not a Vray user. It has been beneficial for ACES setup, by the way. I've been trying to find information about how to mix or blend normal maps and bump maps in a Vray material. We have a very easy way either in Arnold or Redshift but it's been a challenge for me to find clear information about it. Do you know some tricks that you can share? Thank you so much. I am looking forward to the next series !!!
Thanks! For blending normal maps, you can either use a custom OSL node or you can stack multiple V-Ray Bump Mtls together.
@@CGStirk awesome. Thanks
i like and comment ur video because i know this is not easy to create modelling and
i also 3dsmax and z brush usesr and i know its so hardword man love you keep it up
Thanks man. Really appreciate it 🙏
This tutorial is insane!
I have one question? It's possibile that using after effect 2023, I shouldn't use color profile converter applied for obtained the same result? That's because if I follow your same steps, from render in vray to composite in after effect, the image shows darker then my Vray Frame buffer.
Thanks in advance
Thanks! You can still use the plugin, and the results should match exactly. Double-check that the comp itself is linearized. However, in the latest versions of AE, you can use their built-in OCIO. When you import the frames, right-click them and select Interpret Footage, then make sure they're set to ACEScg.
Really nice tutorial,
To bad aftereffects keeps crashing when compositing if I worked with EXR and cryptomatte @2160p.
I had to move over to NUKE.
Is yours stable ?
Yeah I don't experience any big issues with AE. Premiere crashes all the time though. AE rarely crashes for me, but I recently started running into issues with DWAB compressed EXRs. ZIPS is fine, but something with the DWAB causes problems randomly.
Thank you soo much sir🙏🙏🤞🙂
You're very welcome
Amazing work , i am kinda wondering which gpu u have ? I want to learn vray and coming from octane i want a good gpu for ipr rendering
Thanks. On this project I had a 3090.
I love your content here. It's helped me with my first job as an LRC and the studio now I'm working on is using maya vray (i used to work with blender). Can follow your lecture but with nuke comp instead Ae? thanks
Thanks, that's awesome! I don't use Nuke, though. Maybe Fusion once I get enough time but I can't really afford Nuke and my company only uses AE and Fusion.
hi, I try to follow along your vid. I got some basic comp AOV with nuke, I got a little experience with Ae so I can translate that to nuke. Btw thank you
I know that you are also learning Houdini. I really hope to see the tutorial about Houdini soon. In fact, I am also learning Houdini, but I have to admit that this software is really difficult to learn. I look forward to your achievements being shared with us earlier.
I let my license expire unfortunately. Cool software but it's just not needed for my workflow at the moment. I'm sure I'll get into it again, hopefully soon!
Hello, I am a Maya learner. I want to learn about the phoenix FD lately. Will you publish tutorials about P FD ?
I would like to. I have been working on some Phoenix FD sims, but nothing planned yet for a tutorial. Hopefully soon 🤞
'Preciate the effort you put into this long lecture. A lot of this I know, some of it I don't, or it was not perfectly clear.
I do not 100% agree with the metallicity point, as some surfaces have films of dirt or rust that can affect -- but not wipe out -- the metallic appearance of a surface. I also often go for what looks good, not what is technically correct. However, you can argue that what's technically correct is also what looks best. I don't 100% disagree with that, but I think with any creative endeavor, you need to be flexible.
Art has general rules, but I can think of few absolutes.
Thanks. There is certainly contention on this topic, and even PBR itself has two branches. The metallic/metallness workflow, however, is supposed to be easier because you don't have to worry as much about being within the PBR spec if you treat metal as on or off. Fringes around rust technically are an in-between value anyway unless you're clamping your values, which is not recommended, but liberally shading metal in greyscale can easily fall out of the PBR specifications. It is possible to do so, but you should use a utility tool to check that base color/albedo can work with those values too. But at the end of the day, as you said, the final image is what matters.
@@CGStirk ruclips.net/video/0pypuuImw1U/видео.html
what do i have to do with the cryptomatte layer?
I don't think I ended up using it after all, but I wanted to show how it can be used as a matte at around the 6:44:00 mark.
First of all, thank you for publishing such a great lecture series for free. These 9 hours gave me more than 3 years of University. I have a problem with the UDIM sequence I believe. Few parts of the razor crest (I'm using the same model) are not textured and what's weird these parts change every time I restart Maya. Is it just the bug then? My PC is quite okay so I don't think the hardware is a problem there? Do you know what can cause that?
You're welcome. I'm glad they have helped. For issues with UDIMs, here are some things to check. Does it render correctly and just not show in the viewport? I know V-Ray UDIMs currently do not show up in the viewport, but I thought Arnold UDIMs can. Are all the images in the sequence downloaded so there are no gaps and saved in the images folder? Is the project set? If it renders properly but displays incorrectly in the viewport, I would assume it's a caching issue, but I've never seen this problem before.
@@CGStirk thank you for reply, cache issue makes sense to me , I'm gonna check it later, once again thanks 🔥💪
@@michalthemike No prob. Let me know if it keeps happening.
hey did you figure the issue out yet?
I am right clicking on "primary visibility" in the attribute editor. The "create absolute override..." option is not appearing at the bottom of the list. Why not? Has it moved somewhere else?
This means you're on the master layer, which cannot be overridden. Switch to a custom render layer.
@@CGStirk finally fixed it !! thanks a lot
Glad to hear it's working now
Please make more videos
Hopefully I will. Though these video take a couple hundred hours to make and there's little interest unfortunately.
Sir can you help me finding the textures i wasnt able to get them
You can get the textures and the model from CGTrader via the link in the description.
@@CGStirk thanku
Thanks!
Thank you very much
Dude, you rock!! I’ll have to download V-Ray since I mainly work in Arnold but this lesson is worth it.
@@cpsstudios Thank you! Yeah, give it a try. I prefer V-Ray over Arnold, but it is a good renderer too.
can you do a VFX tutorial with live real footage?
I do have some tutorials with a live-action plate
@@CGStirk where?
@@CGStirk when I track my camera on aftereffects then I open it on maya and I put an object in front with a dome light, the object does not apear on my render, do you know why?
Here's one I did a few years ago: ruclips.net/video/MtK_O5EZKEM/видео.html
How are you transferring the track data from AE to Maya?
can i make this scene ?
You can try, though 8 gb of RAM is low for 3D work
How many ram your pc have
256
Yeah 256 gb but this scene doesn't need more than 32 gb, probably less, though I recommend 64 gb as a starting point for this type of work
sir but i have only 8 gb ram
You can try, but that's not much for 3D work
It is a vray 6
V-Ray 5. V-Ray 6 only just came out for Maya
Full on informative lecture for free? How
Glad you found it informative :)
I think I have subscribed the right person 🫡 .Such a great work brother 👏🏻 paying lakhs of money to the universities is worthless and also waste of money & time feeling regret after watching your professional tutorials. I just need a small help from your side brother ?
Thank you! Yes! If you can find the education for free, that often beats a university. Glad I could help.
Hello @CGStirk and folks. Firstly, I would like to thank you for the great effort you have put into creating this content.
I have a question if anybody have a same problem. I set the project on Maya and I put the images in the sourceimages folder. But it's not uploading as UDIM.
I'm using Maya 2024 and Vray ple version.
I got this message:
setAttr -type "string" file2.fileTextureName "sourceimages/rctextures/razorCrest_v004_mainMat_BaseColor..tif";
I would check to make sure all the textures in the UDIM sequence are there. Also, UDIMs don't display in the viewport so check the render.
im getting the same error where it says that my UDIMS dont exist?
i tried switching the uv tiling method to UDIMs Mari and the tiles get detected
yo idk if youve figured it out yet, but switching the tiling to UDIMS did it for me
Glad y ou got it working@@zho07
