I dont think he‘s gonna be good. He will basically be squeak. Squeaks Attack takes time to explode. This dudes attack is very predictable. He‘ll suck.

I think one thing you missed is Grom's super has a knockback of about 3 tiles. Notice Frank at 9:57 as he gets hit by Groms Super. This would cause you to drop the brawl ball and also rank him on the super push/pull test.
He's probably still not going to be great in Brawl Ball though.

I think they should make the directions of his split attacks a variable, they should point according to the direction the attack was thrown.

Yeah, and also, it fits his personality (this line sounds not that bad, but in Russia, if often gets used as sort of "you shouldn't know the answer" and Grom wears a happy mask while being scared in matches (and yeah im russian so sorry for bad english))
Now that I listened to all his voice lines, a lot of them are translated Russian phrases/proverbs so might as well explain them:
Format

2. Optimism is a lack of information | Оптимизм - это недостаток информации | A quote by one of the greatest Soviet actresses in both tragedy and comedy.
3. Grust' Toska - грусть тоска - Feeling of sadness and longing
4. I am not in my own plate | я не в своей тарелке | I am not at ease (not in a comfortable place)
5. Who is laughing at Grom now | not really a phrase but Russian like that phrase when proving that they can accomplish something
6. I am jumping out of my pants | Я выпрыгиваю из штанов | I am working my ass off (so hard that I am jumping out of my pants)
7. My pants are full of happiness | Cчастья полные штаны | I am very happy/glad
8. What you sow you will reap | Basically the Russianized version of you will reap what you sow, but the proverb also exists in Russian because you know, life advice proverbs exist everywhere
9. I put you under my belt | Заткнуть за пояс | 'I will outshine you
10. I am in chocolate | В шоколаде | everything is great / set for life
11. It was written on your forehead | На лбу написано | It was very obvious
12. With one left hand | Одной левой | With my right hand tied behind my back / Really easy
13. I am teaching but you are not learning | A thing Russians of authority (teachers, parents) say to the children who are not learning from mistakes or are misbehaving

18. Pancake | блины | In Russian, our pancakes are actually super thin and made differently so you would eat them with honey or sour cream (basically crepes but better)
Edit: quick fix, pancake on its own can also be used as a curse, which means, "damn" or "f*ck"
19. I am left with my own nose | Остаться с носом | When you failed at something (basically all you have left in front of you is your nose

Grom is a Russian word for thunder and its quite a powerful sounding word in Russian

Something I noticed was that Grom wasn't tested in the Push & Pull test even though his super can push enemy brawlers a short distance. Hope you would take this into consideration Kairos!
He wont be that strong in the meta but sure Fang will break the game.

That’s pretty cool, cuz I feel like the exact opposite about him. Nothing besides his lore intrigues me because of the simple mechanics, lazy super and overall worse Sprout.

@@rens7522 yes! The fact that his weak can be fixed easily but his mechanics are lazy and his super is just a better version of his main attack. No new brawlers have those kind of supers. Old brawlers like colt, rico, brock and barley have those types of supers and I would like it if supercell gave them a rework.
I think that upon release, he will be like Nani where his attack does a lot of damage but is really hard to aim, resulting in an inconsistent brawler.

Yeah, and I can see SPC giving him that brock explosion radius to boost his accuracy and once again, breaking the game
His attacks are pretty easy to dodge and his slow reload is the major issue
If he could have a faster reload and a better attack pattern he'd be decent
He's currently way to predictable, and even against bots he sucks lmao
I think it’s even worse than Nani, Nani’s at least I can consistently hit at least one bullet and it does insane damage
Grom being afraid of children is actually kinda nice detail since assassins kill throwers very easily and they are mostly kids or childish lol

grom is like a mixture of sprout squeak and spike
I just realized Grom is going to be godly on specific maps. Like cavern churn he can throw over walls and pretty much hit an entire isle. That coupled with his gadget which will reveal almost the entire center of the map. He’ll be unstoppable there.
Another example of a brawler who is good purely because of his gadget...xD
Rico can sort of do the scouting better than Grom can. While Grom does have uses, his attacks seem very hard to land, and against an aggro team like Tara/Rico/Bo, he may or may not survive. We'll see though.

Interesting comment on how Grom speaks in Russian, considering that "Grom" is (I think) the only brawler name that clearly sounds like a Russian word. ("гром" is Russian for "thunder")
Also, after watching the video I can 100% guarantee that Grom is Russian, there are a lot of references in his voice lines
Moreover, lots of his phrases are russian idioms, like "Pancake" - "Блин" (=oh, jeez), "I'm jumping out my pants" - "Выпрыгнуть из штанов" (=do some hard stuff), "I've left with my nose" - "Остаться с носом" (=be fooled/lose), "Put behind the belt" - "Заткнуть за пояс" (=got smb/win). And for me as for Russian, the best: "Ёлки-палки!" (Yolki-palki) - smth like "cheese and crackers"

i feel grom is like squeak..Remember how sq'weak' he was at first??his super took aeons to hit and he got hard countered by literally any tank, assassin, thrower, sharpshooter....But the buffs they gave him were significant. So i guess they are gonna tweak his mechanics a little now and then to make him a bit stronger...From what i see, he has room for improvement, for example they could give him a passive like curveball which makes it easier for him to hit or some means of crowd control(sorry for the long comment, but this is my total opinion on grom)

I love playing throwers and they are my favourite kind of brawlers so I feel like grom feels like it has very unimaginative mechanics compared to other throwers but I love the design
just unlocked grom from the challenge an hour ago, he's pretty fun if not tricky to get a solid and safe charge on his super, but that might because every match at zero trophies today is 6 groms

13:18 as russian i can confirm, that Grom is russian, because i can clearly hear him saying "грусть, тоска", which means "sadness", or "that's pretty sad". Also Grom means Thunder in russian. Oh, also he screams "NOO" in russian when he gets defeated.

I believe Grom would be more lovely if his attacks didn’t start from the center of the cross. If they started slightly outsider the center then traveled towards the center, going through the center, then outwards, you could throw the cross on top of enemies & hit with all 4

I would LOVE to see some additional tests in the Olympics such as how quickly they can take out a TIC and a FRANK. This would relate to real situations much more and make a very clear indicator of what they will be like fighting in the game. Thumbs up if you agree so Kairos sees!

I honestly think its a good gadget for grom but i have a re-work idea, the gadget doesnt lose health slowly BUT it would have a range, so it goes from one tile around him, then 3 so it skips one but if ur caught u can still see leon and sandy in their supers

I noticed that the delay of his attack is like Barley’s and Dyna’s where the further he throws, the longer the delay is.
However, that reload speed tho… OOF
Edit: Grom has this weird condition where it’s better to hit the tip of his attacks to get max damage, but his delay makes it hard to get that tipper. So he’s like Barley where it’s better to throw them close to him, but he doesn’t have sufficient damage or health to do it up close. Yet that’s the only way he can really hit his attacks because the delay at longer ranges is enough for players to dodge it.
But then his super deals a lot of damage and is better dropping it down next to him. Yet it doesn’t recharge his super that much?

Exactly my thoughts, it's like the way supercell wants you to play him isn't the more optimal way and really tries to prevent you from attacking close to brawlers

With grom's gadget, bo is gonna be even more useless than he already was. Bo was only used in maps with much bushes, but now grom's gadget does the job.

I think he will be hard to hit shots because its easy to dodge, therefor he does not get his super that often, and he does not seem good.
The benefits i see is that his gadget will be very useful in bushy maps such as snake prairie and cavern churn, he will be able to break a lot of walls.

I think this is gonna be the worst brawler cause his attacks are very hard to hit and aim and opponents can dodge very easily once player base gets used to it. I think supercell is gonna have to buff it a bit

I think they should re-do one of his star powers to make it so the attacks that go from the first attack have an additional attack that goes diagonally and does not go as far. It would make his attacks less predictable and make him a bit op for hot zone

I think one thing to make his attack better, would be to change the pattern at each attack, like the first attack is cross pattern, the next is "X" pattern, and it would alter it through the match

He is most definitely of russian origin. At least some of his lines are those being:
"Grust-toska" (грусть-тоска);
"I'm not in my own plate" (Я не в своей тарелке);
"Yolki-palki" (ёлки-палки);
"I will show you where lobsters spend winter" (Я тебе покажу, где раки зимуют);
"I'm left with my own nose" (С носом оставили); "Pancake!" (Блин!)
and "Nye-e-et".
The first one is the closest to him being really sad.
The second is him saying that he's out of his own place, he's uncomfortable right now.
The third one is a rough equivalent of "God damn!" and it's used when you are surprised, so I'm banking on this being a 'getting hurt' line.
The fourth one is an expression that's usually used in a "I'm gonna mess you up" way so it's gotta be a 'match start' line
The fifth is an expression equivalent of "Left with nothing" so I'm betting on the 'defeated' line.
The last one is him basically screaming "No-o-o", but in russian.
I'm also not sure about the "Pancake!". It's supposed to be a translation for "Блин!" which IS used when you are just done with everything and you don't want to swear where I can give Supercell credit, the only brawler that comes close to swearing is Jacky but that's another story. Anyways, that line just doesn't sound well.
ALSO his name is Гром in russian which translates to "thunder" in english.

Kairos man, since many gears affect olympics, like shield and healing, you will need to make rules that either eliminate gears or must use maxed gears... And since that's inconceivable... Perhaps you should take a demo build and use it to remake olympics with "Free" lv 3 gears... XD

I know I’m 2 years late but just some advice for maps to use with Grom,A specific one is Excel in Bounty the map is almost like a chess board which means his opponents will 90% see a bomb flying right at their noggin And there’s great distance so Grok will be very good in that map
