- Welcome back to the channel! Today I'm going on my FIRST solo cross country flight from KSNA in Orange County, CA to KRNM in San Diego, CA! Dropping a few life updates before the solo, like getting laid off from my job. Gonna do my. best to keep flying thought!

My throttle friction had an issue and was on take off about 150 feet off the runway, and it slid back to half throttle in a second. If my hand hadn't felt it, we would have ended up in the lights.
I’m trying to get into this field. Watching you do your solo cross country makes my palm sweaty. How do you stay so calm?
Awesome work and I am so so jealous! Flying WAS a lifelong dream for me, but now at 67 pretty sure it will remain a dream. You go after your dreams while your young brother! Be safe and enjoy flying!🙏

Hah.. I remember my first solo XC some 1500 hours ago.. Mainly because I got lost! No GPS in those days..:). Great radio work BTW!

I remember getting away from the home airport by myself , it was the flight where I realized that I have in fact learned a ton just to get to this point.
All sorts of radio contact from Toronto Center and Cleveland Center was giving me a helmet fire but by the end of it I felt more confident.

Great job Tristan, my XC from Fullerton will be down to KCRQ-KRNM-KCNO-KFUL. Excited for a test run into Ramona as i've only flown the Palomar dual XC a few times and now it's time for XC Solo. I'm just not familiar with Ramona so we're going to run it down there in a few days but it looks like a beautiful and wide-open airport.

Thanks bro! On year 7 with the hair haha. I'm not cutting mine for a while, I just want to be able to fly recreationally. I don't have interest in flying for the airlines.
Nice vid. Any advice for getting comfortable with radio communication? Any apps u used to practice or any methods u recommend?
I recommend chair flying and also using the LiveATC app where you can listen to comms at any airport.
If you have a sim get pilotedge. That had me comfortable with comms before my first CX and it gets you over mic shyness fast
I’m doing my XC solo next week (in Kentucky) “Plane English” is a great app. Also, my CFI would simulate ATC comms during our flights.
What’s the background music? It was so relaxing I want to use it for my solo tomorrow lol! Great flight btw
