- Amery Browne, Minister for Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, addresses the General Debate of the 79th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (New York, 24 - 30 September 2024).
World leaders gather to engage in the annual high-level General Debate under the theme, "Unity and diversity for advancing peace, sustainable development, and human dignity, everywhere and for all." Heads of State and Government and ministers will explore solutions to intertwined global challenges to advance peace, security, and sustainable development.
The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. Each of the 193 Member States of the United Nations has an equal vote.

Reparations should be in the form of investments and opportunities for all peoples going forward. A brighter future on an equal standing, greater protection, infrastructure, fair trade and industry development and natural resources for an independent and strong people to live in dignity. The benefits not going to but a few, but benefitting all. From the least to the greatest. This will and can bring healing for past offenses, restoring dignity and justice to a people who for too long have been denied it or given lip service to, rather than actions.

Well said, Mr. Brown. The vision for Palestine has remained unchanged, a two-state solution. However, it would have been good to hear enunciated quite clearly what can be done now to end the conflict. "Negotiations in good faith" have been ongoing for the last sixty-plus years. Yet, the conflict rages and worsens. Why? Isn't it time to call for the big powers to stop arming Israel? Isn't that why there has been no solution to the end of the suffering of the people of Palestine?

this is shameful as crime is sky high in Trinidad and Tobago......We don't have a right to protect ourselves during house invasions etc. as in Trinidad and Tobago home invasions are viscous. The government cares about gender violence while teenage pregnancy while there in power increase by 3x something that is fixable they don't care about.
The common man in our country has no rights only the rich as power nepotism drives the pnm. 700 innocent civilians in tnt for a population of 1.2m lives ended this year while this man cares about foreign crimes only 5% or our violent criminals are found.
