    UConn Fan all the way. This team will rebound from this loss. As a fan I’ve been relying Paige to do everything during the game as a floor general. I also think the Coaches and Players as well as some fans would agree. Well it’s time we all see the reality that she needs more support. We as fans have to stand by her and the entire team to correct this situation. The coaches will also correct this and see that we need better defense against the 3s and more players to shoot the 3s. Maybe our floor General needs an assistant that is not Azzi all the time . Who is going to step up?

    This may be an unpopular take but it’s been brewing since last season so here goes…I doubt very seriously that Caroline plays this year. With a head/neck injury her ultimate return will be determined on whether or not she can survive physical contact in game. It’s nearly impossible to avoid upper body contact playing basketball for an entire season. If she can’t take absorb contact or if the medical staff is hesitant about putting her on the court, she’s not going to play. She’s still wearing ear plugs on the sideline and some sort of headgear in practices so something still is not right. I hate to see this outcome but you can’t play ball w/o contact coming into play. I also doubt that Ayanna will play. At this point, repair her shoulder, get in rehab and plan for next year. We get Azzi & Aubrey back and that’s the team we run with moving forward.

      Ducharme isn't coming back & neither is Patterson. Aubrey still can't shoot a 12', wide-open jumper. Shade & Celli are the future.

    Three point shooting: UConn 3 for 16, ND 10 for 18. Two point shooting: Dead even with 48%. Did UConn defend the 3 ball poorly? I don't think so. ND threw up a bunch of low percentage shots (longer 2's as well) that landed and it wasn't just Hannah. If they could have hit just 4 more 3's... Paige 2-4 instead of 0-4 and Sarah 4-9 instead of 2-9 wouldn't be unreasonable to expect.
    UConn's guards get a ton of rebounds too. The women's game has more low trajectory shots that guards pick up in open space. Jana was pretty effective in the post against ND's forwards, who did not impress me one bit.
    Paige did have a very quiet 25 points. She, Sarah and Kaitlyn led the comebacks and kept them close until the 4th quarter collapse. If the other players could have established themselves early, they wouldn't have had to go to Paige and Sarah exclusively. It was the poor shooting 1st quarter that put UConn in the hole from the get-go that they couldn't ever dig out of and Paige's poor shot selection was a big part of that. Overall, it was a team loss and many will blame Paige and say it was because Hannah outplayed her, which just isn't the case. As a fan, I would have loved a victory but if we play ND again, there will be a different result, Azzi or not.

      do you know how many 3 pt shots of ND's 18 were WIDE OPEN? 10.. they made 8 of those. they defined the 3-point line horribly. Let's not do the what-ifs; I watched the game. It's hard to not help out, but you can't help when you have a great 3-point shooter. You can live with a tough 2, but you can't live with them shooting 50 pct from 3.. and it wasn't just chucking it up there. The only way there's a different result the next time we play is if the perimeter defense and intensity level pick up. You can't go under on screens, and you can't allow a team at home to get up and utilize momentum like ND did. Attention to detail... has to be better if this team wants to win a title.

    • @jwa725
      @jwa725 День назад

      @@LockedOnUConn Even wide open 3's are a low percentage shot. Most teams couldn't hit 50% of uncontested ones. Most nights, ND couldn't shoot that well and UConn wouldn't shoot that bad. What if's aside, this was the difference in the game. Jacking up shots behind a screen several feet behind the 3 point line may be an uncontested shot in your view but in my mind, it's low percentage. When 3's come off an offensive rebound, shots have a tendency to be open. I honestly don't think UConn defended the 3 any worse than they do in other games. ND's 3's always seemed to come just as UConn got close, which is a backbreaker. I blame cold shooting, turnovers and ND's offensive rebounds for the loss but I believe UConn's defense was solid.

    Finally got to physically see the game, Paige is an amazing player but she wants to involve her teammates, which is unfortunate. To get Paige to be a "ball hog" Geno will need to make her bring the ball up and run the offense with the directive to shoot it herself or pass it to Sarah Strong.

    This whole "Passive Paige" narrative is such bs and disappointing to hear you going on Locked on Women's Basketball show to push it further. Ask why Geno won't let the best PG in the country be a PG. KK and Kaitlyn combined for 3 assists. They have no court vision. They're not even on Nika's level. And Paige has to run around looking like an idiot bc Ice and her PGs can't make a read. It's insane.
