I really love that table because of that finial and the colors. It's amazing how I find some of the exact finds that you guys do or similar, even though we thrift so far apart in the country. I just found a lazy susan condiment holder like the deviled egg one you painted white with your smalls and candle sticks, magazine racks, baskets, kettles, and more. There is a lot of mass produced stuff out there.
As usual, GORGEOUS!...My husband looked over my shoulder to see what I was watching and asked me, “Who are those people?” I said my very favorite people that I follow on RUclips ☺️
Thank you so much for showing me what to do as I have had a table like this for over 2 years now and did not even want to try, but I may undercoat the bottom of the table a light grey first to see if when I sand it back some it doesn't show to much of the original colour. If it don't work out I can just paint it with a bit more white.
It looks like it was sanded before it was painted, this is how I do all of my entryway tables but I stain and poly the top first, I may try this way, idk my way has been working pretty well, Table turned out cute.
I really want to try this look on my vanity with white swan on the base. My vanity is a light wood and I am wondering if I should use the dark and decrepit color (or something like little black dress) on the base before painting white so that when I distress the dark shows (instead of the light yellow wood color). I just got a mirror from you and it is white swan with a black color that shows through the distressed spots so I want to match the vanity to mirror. Thanks for any advice in advance!
I have watched a crazy amount of your videos today and am learning so much it is just amazing. Trying to learn distressing since it seems so popular and you sure do a lot of it. I have not tried it yet but i know it is going to be a challenge for me because sometimes when things are not symmetrical it bothers me. Which would defeat the naturally worn look. LOL Anyways I keep looking at the piece above and wonder what it would have looked like with the curved iner part the legs painted the same color as the top and the legs left white. What is your honest opinion of that? I want to know if there would be a reason to perhaps not do it, other then the fact that it is more work. Never know if I might find a piece that has something on the bottom that I might consider this on.
That is exactly what I am doing right now with my hutch and farm style table. I was frustrated because the backing and some of the hutch was some kind of MDF. I don’t have an air sprayer and since my first experience with the electric sprayer was a nightmare I painted it by hand. Jami, I don’t know how you do it. I was upside down and backwards doing the hutch. I also took your advice by painting the inside a light gray instead of white. Thank you. Your table is beautiful! How long does it take for topcoat to cure before I can set the top piece back on the hutch!
Jami you mentioned buffing the base, What do yall use to buff your furniture after you paint it. I love this table. I normally do one color as you mentioned as well because I feel alittle intimidated but it doesn't look that hard after watching you, Thanks for sharing
Love this piece! When you're sanding...are you distressing only or trying to smooth out the paint as well? Do the paints you work with "need" to be sanded or could you obtain a smooth finish with only paint and top coat?
You can get a smooth finish without sanding. The DIY is a little thicker than most paints and tends to have a little more brush strokes (which I actually like) you can dip your brush in water as your painting to smooth it out or...I like to sand to distress and smooth while I’m distressing.
Jami Ray Vintage awesome! Thank you so much for responding... I absolutely adore the work you both do... I watch your videos more than regular TV lol. Keep the vids coming!
Wow, wonderful job. Jamie gave good instructions and so slim today she might have to run around in the shower to get wet. Jeb is tall and hansom as usual. Keep on keeping on!
What a great piece! My wife and I plan on doing our kitchen table as soon as we move to our new house. I just picked up a desk for my home office and someone had attempted to stain it. The color is Kona but there are a bunch of brush strokes in it... I can't tell if it's in the stain or the clear coat. Any recommendations on how to remove these? Am I going to have to sand and re-stain/clear coat?
If the strokes have dried there’s really not a good way to remove them if it’s in the stain and sealed. If it’s just in the top coat you can probably just lightly sand it down with some 220 grit and then try resealing.
i love it! but love almost all your projects. what style is that? French? it has a touch of ornate with the gather of the legs..... anyway, Ill just come on over to pick that up! Somewhere in Utah right? :)
We were going to spray it but it had so many bleed through issues I didn’t want to chase any more stains so we waxed it. It definitely was more work to get the look!
I have used dark grey paint on top with a white base. Great, fresh look without being to distressed. Some older folks here at the beach like painted but not too distressed
When you are staining the top and you don’t want the rings to show through, do you use shellack. Or is that only with paint??? Thank you! Loving your videos
So if I’m staining the top and it has rings I keep sanding unless it’s a veneer. If it’s a veneer and the rings won’t sand out you’re usually stuck. If that’s the case and I’m dealing with a veneer that still shows rings I dry brush to cover up any blemishes. Here’s a video on that technique. ruclips.net/video/V30LRb-sWIE/видео.html
That table is gorgeous and just my style. If I lived close to you I would buy it. I have a question. If I chalk painted a piece a teal green and the color is too stark and bright can I dry brush white over it to tone the color down and make it look softer and not so harsh? Thank you!
We use a Husky 60 gallon compressor. I wouldn’t spray paint with less than an 8 gallon and it’s gonna make that 8 gallon work the whole time. But it will get the job done. 👍
I think a brush makes it look more distressed then spray painting. I brush 1st then spray paint a final coat to get all the nooks and crannies but you get a light brush look. then sand the edges. just my opinion
What a gorgeous finished product!
Thanks for the shellac tip. I used it on old doors in my house with great success!!!
Yay!
Honestly that table turned out so darling..it will be sold in a heartbeat!!
Thank you! I sure hope so! 🤞
Jamie and Zeb that table turned out fabulously I love it!

As usual, GORGEOUS!...My husband looked over my shoulder to see what I was watching and asked me, “Who are those people?” I said my very favorite people that I follow on RUclips ☺️
Awwww! You’re too sweet! ❤️❤️❤️
This is exactly what I plan on doing with an antique buffet that I recently inherited. I'm glad you made this video, and as always, great work!!
Awesome! Would love to see it when you’re done!

Very pretty piece!
Beautiful!will dark and decrepit hide stains on wood?

How many times did you paint it before sanding it?? You explained everything else perfectly but that. Thanks
just once.
That is exactly what I am doing right now with my hutch and farm style table. I was frustrated because the backing and some of the hutch was some kind of MDF. I would give it 3-4 days.
Love!!
Jami you mentioned buffing the base, What do yall use to buff your furniture after you paint it. I love this table. I normally do one color as you mentioned as well because I feel alittle intimidated but it doesn't look that hard after watching you, Thanks for sharing
We use a sanding sponge with 320 grit
I love that table! You two turn out the best stuff! Can you use the DIY wax indoors? I heard you say it's all natural and smells good.
Yes you can!
Love it!
Thanks!

Thanks for watching! A new paint pour video is on its way! (We used milk paint today)

It's definitely dried... it was done a couple years ago. I'll try the 220 and resealing. Thank you for the advice and the great videos!
Good luck! Worst case, break out the 80 grit and sand that down if resealing doesn’t work. 👍
Will do. Thank you!
OMG I adore that piece, GREAT JOB and it will be sold in 2 seconds!!!! What are you asking for it?
Thanks! I’m going to put it in the shop for $110.00.

i love it! but love almost all your projects. what style is that? French? it has a touch of ornate with the gather of the legs..... anyway, Ill just come on over to pick that up! Somewhere in Utah right? :)
Honestly I have no idea what style it is. It’s old. I know that. 😂
Hey Jamie just wondering why wax instead of spray clear coat? Just seems like waxing is a lot of work?
We were going to spray it but it had so many bleed through issues I didn’t want to chase any more stains so we waxed it. It definitely was more work to get the look!

Sure can! I also like to use white wax. It really softens a piece.
Jami Ray Vintage Great, thanks😊
Jami Ray Vintage Great, thanks😊
What kind of sprayer do you use!?? Thx! Looking forward to seeing you at the DIY Bootcamp in September!!
Yay! The sprayer is the purple central pneumatic sprayer from harbor freight.
Jami Ray Vintage thank you!!!!
Sooooo cute! Remind me again... What size is your air compressor and what size do you recommend?
We use a Husky 60 gallon compressor. I wouldn’t spray paint with less than an 8 gallon and it’s gonna make that 8 gallon work the whole time. But it will get the job done. 👍
Jami Ray Vintage Thanks! My birthday is on Wednesday and my kids got me a gift card to Harbor Freight! Guess what I'm getting! 👍💕
Oh that’s fantastic!
+Kelley Williford you have very thoughtful kids!! that's a great birthday gift :-)
When you use a regular stain do you use prestain?
No. Sometimes we wipe it down with water go open the wood pores but that’s dull.
woohoo first one baby!!
❤️❤️
What shellac spray brand did y’all use? The one I bought Gunked up really bad
We use Zinser shellac. Link is in the description of this video.
Jami Ray Vintage is the 123 or 321 primer not the same? That’s what I got from Zinsser
Oh, so the primer is completely different from what I use. We’re using the Zinser 408 Bullseye shellac. It’s clear.
I think a brush makes it look more distressed then spray painting. I brush 1st then spray paint a final coat to get all the nooks and crannies but you get a light brush look. then sand the edges. just my opinion
We brush a lot of pieces but man. So many nooks and crannies on this one! It was 1/2 an hour just waxing the legs lol.
Do you travel around Utah and buy furniture. My sister has this huge dresser she wants to get rid of??
We usually don’t venture more than 30 minutes away. ❤️😀
Okay! Just wondering! Blessings!
$15.00 ? WOW .. Lucky Find!
