What do you recommend for someone with EDS (hypermobility) with CCI that has been present for years?

So many people get ADR, experience relief right away and then some have issues later. On the FB support groups, it appears that many ADR patients grow bone spurs or experience bone loss with ADR from too much mobility, which is probably why he’s suggesting an ADR with lesser movement. But his filaure was from the bone spur that existed prior to the ADR, which was not fixed by the doctors and probably could have been? Both ADR and ACDF can cause bone spurring afterwards. ACDF can also cause adjacent disc disease. Not sure why you’re recommending NOT to listen to Musk’s advice at all when ADR seems to be the most cutting-edge solution out there… Failure can lead to success. if anything, I’d like to see Musk learn from this experience and pour funds and research into further improvement of spine surgeries.

Thank you for reaching out. I hear you.
As is true for most things in life it is easy to see how things should've/could've been done in a particular surgical case.
For this reason, a thoughtful/ capable surgeon will approach a particular surgical problem with a focus on consistency and meticulous planning. The surgical technique should have a long track-record and its results should be reproducible. New techniques may be promising, but the surgeon should be a skeptic about it until he/she is provided with irrefutable evidence about its efficacy. The basic principle is one of "Do no harm."
A common mistake that a lot of surgeons make is that they choose a "new" technology without understanding the pitfalls/ limitations of what they are about to attempt. As a result, the surgical results can be unpredictable and unfortunately sometimes injurious.
For this reason, as things stand right now, I am not convinced that TDR will dethrone ACDF in the future. Maybe I will be proven wrong.

My problem was my surgeon would only fix one section and I would wake up I was still in pain and even months later. Why doctors fix one level at time?

      Thank you for reaching out.
Since I am not familiar with your case, I cannot comment on your condition.
Having said that: for patients who have a pinched nerve in the neck, it is possible to remove (in most cases) up to three (even four) discs to decompress the nerve. If you are still having difficulties, it may be worthwhile to get a second opinion from another surgeon.
