I find matte foundations work best on a glowy primer, and then I think the reverse works great too - so a matte primer with a glowy foundation! I think it’s a good balance of the two!

My favorite color corrector is from Pixi. It comes in a little pot. It’s not emollient at all. The Becca one doesn’t work for me because of the emollience, same with Doll 10, Beauty Pie . . . I’ve tried so many and I ALWAYS go back to the Pixi. Also, I mix the matte Gucci foundation with the luminous one they released last year (equal parts) and it is perfect. So maybe try mixing the Gucci with a more luminous foundation you like. And your look turned out GORGEOUS!
I use the pixi color corrector as well and think it’s really good. Not too dry but not too emollient.
Yes! I want soft NARS packaging face, lol. I've tried using highlighters with more of a bronze/blush color to give me a glow from within. But they have to be non-sparkly, really buildable, and not emphasize texture. Very difficult to find...
And yes to trends video! I feel so out of the loop lately. Some trends are fun but silly, or look good on tick tock but not in real life. But sometimes a trend will work really well for me!

I'd love to see a rundown of your favorite eyeshadow sticks. Especially ones that are under $20ish. And for matte foundations, I add a drop of facial oil to thin it out some.
What I do for foundation in the summer is I only use 1 or 2 brands for summer because I purchase my summer shade that matches my neck. I wear lots of sunscreen so my face is way lighter and then I purchase a mini, if they have it in a mini, of the next deeper shade in the range and the lightest shade in the range and I mix it to make my perfect match throughout the summer. I usually use Tarte Sea Hydroflex foundation because it's a serum foundation or Dior Backstage because they are both so lightweight that I don't feel them on my skin at all. The tarte comes in full size and mini size. I also use them to mix with other foundations that are to light or deep so I get use out of all my foundations through the year. For reference I go from super fair in the winter ( Dior Backstage 0N or Tarte Hydroflex 12N) to medium in the summer ( Dior Backstage 2.5N or Tarte Hydroflex 32N.

I'm an oily girl and my fave go to face combo at the moment is the loreal lumiglow in light (elf halo glow, CT flawless filter would work as well) as primer in te perimeter of my face + loreal 24H Redness Eraser Face w/ 4% Niacinamide in the center of my face. I use the true match Hyaluronic Tinted Serum in 1-2.5 rosy light as a base and it's wonderful 😍
btw the true match HA tinted serum is a natural finish!
I actually really love how this whole look came out! I'm sure the base looks different irl, but on camera it looks beautiful! BTW I pulled your seatalk palette out to play with tomorrow. It's been too long! 🫶
Ok if you want slightly more matte foundations you need to try Givenchy prisme libre matte or ysl all hours - they’re long wearing, medium/buildable and more of a natural matte so it’s not too matte but wears well with oily skin! That Gucci is so full coverage and weird. I was so interested but haven’t seen any good reviews on it!
It's eerie how you showed that perfume because it's been heavily marketed to me on Insta, likely because I do buy mostly niche indie brands (though I haven't tried Snif).
If you haven’t yet, I would suggest trying the pur 4-1 love your selfie foundation. Lots of shades natural finish but does get more dewy throughout the day but in a pretty healthy skin way. I have oily skin and I agree with you with the matte foundations. I like a natural finish. My most worn since high school is the neutragena healthy skin for everyday. My most recent love as of 2 years is urban decay stay naked weightless foundation. I think this one is best for oily skin and what your going for if you want to be less oily but not matte
I always find that a setting spray helps when I think my foundation & powder are a little dry/cakey looking. My current favorite is from Pixi although it is heavily rose scented so if you don’t like that, be forewarned!
I think that foundation colour looks perfect for your body colour!
I love eyeshadow sticks! I was so excited to order 3 shades of new Hourglass shadow sticks! I completely agree with you! What I found weird about them was they swatch like they will have some glitter ✨ pop but when I applied each shade there’s really no pop of any glitter or super shine to them. Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown make such beautiful eyeshadow sticks!

Oily girl here and I personally like mixing something more radiant in with my matt foundations, as I can control what matt/glow ratio I want to add on any given day. I really like the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow for that purpose, Don't really use it in its own otherwise. As far as foundations go, my holy grail for years has been the MAC waterproof pro longwear foundation
Your makeup ended up looking great on camera at least!! I also love a healthy glow, but want my makeup to last and have pores in the center of my face. I almost always using a nice hydrating primer, and use a pore filling primer the center of my face (I use the hydro grip and porefessional) Then take a soft blurring powder just down the center of my face so I dont lose the rest of my glow! The pat McGrath under eye or charlotte tilbury flawless finish are my two favorites ❤
As you were doing the eye look I was like all it needs is a pop of "neon yellow" and tada!! We were all routing for the chartreuse

I have the Snif Crumb Couture fragrance and I love it so much! I also have another bready scent from Fyrinnae, it's a perfume oil called Barmbrack. I think of Crumb Couture as a lighter version of that scent, more approachable for spring and summer, and Barmbrack as the deep comfort scent of bread for when I need some grounding.

Maybe mix in a glowy primer with a matte foundation. I love doing that and I have combo skin I guess. My forehead and chin get oily throughout the day but I don’t have to blot or anything because I also use a matte primer on the places where I get oily. Also I was hoping for a whole eye look with the glaminatrix palette. I hope that’s coming! 🤞🏼

I use Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm as a primer to absorb oils during the day. Have a some what glowy/ natural finish foundation in top. Great on my nose! Like to mix it with cream and liquid blush to make it more blurring. It's a very versatile product actually when playing around with it

I'm dreading trying new foundations. The one I'm using currently is discontinued and I feel like there is a lot super matte options or super dewy options but not much in between.
I LOVE the look. When I first clicked on the video, I was like “she looks so good but I can’t tell why or what’s different.” You just look great.
My favorite look you’ve done because of the combo of neutral and color. I gotta get that Röen palette now. You’re my fave makeup guru.

oof that foundation was ROUGH. i totally get what you mean by it looking unnatural and mask-like. i actually like a matte foundation though as i am a SUPER oily gal. i do wonder if the primer was to blame though - not to say you shouldn't use a mattifying primer at all, but it being one of those ones that give a silicone soft-touch kinda feeling might only work well with dewy foundations idk

I’m going to assume we have probably similar skin types (normal skin, oily t-zone), and I love a glowy base without feeling too sticky or anything that slides off during the day. I generally use two primers when I get ready! I use a pore smoothing/oil controlling just on my nose area, and if I’m wearing a matte foundation, I’ll use a glowy primer. If I’m going with a more dewy or luminous foundation, I use something hydrating. My favorite combo right now is either the Caliray blur primer or Glow Recipe Strawberry blur, and then either one of the Urban Decay All Nighter primers for the rest of my face.
I’ve heard really good things about the Hourglass primer too; maybe try cocktailing that with a hydrating primer on the perimeter!
I also use two different types of moisturizers during the day when I wear makeup. I do a gel base on my tzone, and then I’m not so picky with the rest of the face.
I love Yensa and was so excited to see you test the new blushes. Have you tried the new concealer yet? The super serum silk foundation is my reliable go to, I know I can count on it to get through anything. But I haven’t tried anything else yet.

Using a glowy/luminous primer, sunscreen or tinted moisturizer under a matte foundation helps. You could also try adding a smidge of anything glowy into the foundation itself. I found that I like the Huda Glowish sheer foundation as a primer/mixer much more than as a foundation/skin tint. My preferred finish is satin or natural, anything too matte or too luminous just accentuates my textured skin.

Love the look! I also grabbed the vanish primer recently and I love it, however it works! It turns a glowy foundation more matte. So the matte foundation with that heavy duty primer was definitely diving into the deep end of matte skin lol. Looking forward to this journey with you lol
Lauren, I also have oily skin with central redness, and I love using the NARS matte foundation with a pure filling primer and mixing a liquid highlight into the foundation. Creates a beautiful finish but gives you the longevity ;)
The Gucci foundation was also too matte for me. I started mixing it 50/50 with an illuminator (Glossier Futuredew) and I love to wear it that way.
I loved everything about the look except the yellow eye highlight ...I think I'm going to have to buy the Pat McGrath bronzer - freaking amazing on you
I feel you on avoiding matte foundations. Have you tried adding a few drops of facial oil or a glowy primer to the foundation to help it melt into the skin? I think adding a bit of pore filling primer in your trouble areas will work for you, too. I swear by those tricks. ❤
Imo its all about balance when wearing matte foundation. Like with anything really. I will go with a more hydrating/glowy primer under matte foundation with maybe some spot pore filing primer. I don't have oily skin so i cant speak to that but i do prefer a more naturally satin matte complexion. I love highlighter but i have to be careful and place it in specific spots to no emphasize my pores and texture.
I got that crumb couture fragrance too! I ordered the preorder, so it won't be here til June probably.
Revlon has a mini lil palette called Player and it has a nice chartreuse green. It’s still out there. Has anyone used that color lately? I had mine for a long time and barely used it. All the times I got rid of palettes I still hung on to this one. Just in case you’re looking for something affordable and just want to try it. What do you all think? I think this palette goes well w the Glamlite Dirty Martini palette or BH avocado palette. Have a great day everyone 😊
Hi! Omg! So I don't like the matte look on me either and so I have some matte foundations and I just make sure to have a dewy sunscreen underneath or a dewy primer. It helps out. I have dry skin too. ❤ hope that helps.

Is the Ginger Blaze Yensa blush similar to the Fenty Glow cream blush, without the shimmer,by chance??? ((If you happen to have or have had the Fenty one)) The Fenty Glow cream blush was in a holiday set a couple years ago, and I have NOT found one similar. I am al.ost out of mine and it hurts my heart that it was limited edition!
I just bought my first ever PH thing. Accidentally, because I wasn’t paying attention. Why offer multiple color options if it’s all going to turn pink?! However, it’s the Haus Labs lip oil and I love how it feels. It reminds me of the Clarins lip oil before they changed the formula.
One foundation I would like to try out once I use my bb cream up is the pat mcgrath foundation.

Dying my brows as we speak. Just got lighter brow products during the sephora sale and let my brow color fade down a ton so I'm doing a dark blonde instead of medium brown. Fingers crossed 🤞

I found the Gucci foundation had a VERY yellow undertone and oxidised HORRIBLY (same shade as you). It also clung to lines I didn't even know I had. No amount of different primers helped the situation sadly

People need to realize & accept that you have pores. And no one is going to be all up in your face looking at your pores anyway, & if they are then they are too damn close & in your personal space & need to back the hell up...😁
It's the formula of the foundation not u , I would go with a semi matte or natural finish instead of super matte or super glowy , I think u trying to go from one extreme to another. Maybe try a drop or 2 of facial oil mixed with that foundation try that before u return it you may love it like that. Don't worry about trends they are just dumb and recycled things that have already been do what you like and makes you feel beautiful.
