The FTS segment for the Mayan Mountainside KOM is counted for BOTH the lead-in AND the last time we climb it. I did say it was the second in the video so please know I was WRONG in the video!!!
Hi John, WTRL did post an update on their website: Mayan Mountain KOM - FTS Only (lead in and lap 1 count: fastest 5 times - 10,8,6,4,2) - so it doesn’t matter when you set your best climbing time, your fastest effort counts
@@ZwiftyZwifter I had some good jokes about it (in my opinion) that I had to cut with time! I’m extremely grateful for the notes and glad to have the correct information this time lol
Thanks for these recon videos John, really useful! Just wondering about the FTS comments you made on the Itza KOM... The WTRL rules state that FTS points are awarded on a race basis, not on lap basis. So to me it seems both Itza efforts count towards the FTS rank?
I accidentally just deleted my previous comment, but yes after rewatching a few times and thinking about other races we've had, FTS points might be in play for the whole race. So you'd get two attempts for the KOM. This would mean that the first time up the Mayan Mountainside KOM, it might be quite fast. I would keep an eye out for Zwift Insiders blog post on the route because they will 100% confirm this if true.
Personally I would recommend the tron for a good all around choice. If you're going for segments, anything that is lightweight like the Trek Emonda. Same with wheels, Definitely do not use disk.

Hi Tim. My update to your comment is that it is ONLY for the FIRST time up the KOM according to the WTRL website!
Thanks for verifying John!
Whats the best bike for this course?
