18! That's unbelievable, fair play lad he deserves all the success that comes his way!
Great to see young lads take pride in their trade and you can see Luke is one of those. Fantastic work ethic their too. 👍
Great video Roger, I encounter young folks starting out (plumbing) who are often very eager to work and more that happy to put the effort in. I've realized that often all I need to do is give someone the chance. None of us were born knowing are trade, we all had to learn it somewhere.
Fair play too luke, he's got some great screeding skills there!
After doing my double length garage floor a few years ago i can vouch that it definitely isn't as easy as it looks - had to take the following day off to recover! He's got a hard life ahead of him. I hope he gets the reputation and reward he deserves.
Totally agree Roger; nice to see such a young lad take pride in his work! 👍
Great job Luke, wish you all the best for your future. A grafter with pride in a job done well.
There's a lot of snobbery aimed at construction workers. That we're uneducated or somehow beneath other professions. Fact is, some of the smartest people I've ever met are builders/ construction workers. We might not have read the classics but we're constantly problem solving, applying mathematics and geometry, working stuff out and juggling multiple connected factors at any given time. It's a never ending learning process plus it can be physically brutal. I honestly believe it'd take longer, and require a greater IQ, to become a good builder than a good doctor or lawyer. Sometimes when I tell people I'm a roofer they react like I've just admitted to being a career criminal. It's why I hate those programmes on the BBC about cowboy tradesmen. When are they going to make a program where Matt Alright goes after cowboy bankers, journalists and legal professionals? It's middle class snobbery.
Great comment!
agreed! well said ... excellent and true
Working class lives matter
Completely agree. Wisest man I know is a carpenter. Trades have the broadest skill set (trade smarts, math, sales, service, legal, brokering, risk analysis & mitigation, estimating, etc.) & acquire vast amounts of knowledge over the years).
3000% fact!!!
18!!! That boy got skills . What a superb job he made of that . Always nice to watch someone at the top of their game 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
He's fantastic. He's got screeding down. He can do fantastic work now in any trade because he mastered one of the basics of prep work for so many different fields. Concrete, paver stones, tile etc
My father was a top class screeder, used to travel all over putting in floors, I'm very impressed with this kid, fair dues to him.
Great video roger,Fair play to the young lad, he deserves the credit,as a sparky myself trying to get my nephew to learn a trade ,you get more out of a brick wall, all they want is easy money without any effort ,luke is an inspiration keep up the good work
Excellent...well presented and thanks for sharing your expertise Luke...
Hard work that on your knees and back all day. For any one else interested you can also do a bonded screed with tile adhesive and a notched trowel and lay your screed on top while it is still wet, much like the slurry that Luke used in the video. You can also lay an un-bonded screed using a bond breaker such as a layer of DPM where movement may be an issue and reinforce the screed with chicken wire or the like. Cheers Roger
Well done. Mate It’s a killer of a job. Done plenty over the years
Fascinating and enjoyable to watch. That lad has an honest and meticulous work ethic.
its fantastic to see that some of the new generation have and continue to learn and listen and really care about doing a good job. Taking their time, do it once, do it right First time! fantastic job!
What a great video and hats off to Luke for being a true Skilled Professional. Top Man.
Great demo and what a talented young chap. Thanks for sharing.
Well done Luke, can I ask why u don't use PVA as a primer?
Not sure why anyone would thumbs down that. Great job!
Thank you Roger for putting the video back up stay safe hope you well
Hi Luke
Dylan figured out a way of doing it. I hope you aren't starving to death.
Great video ,,screeds are hard work moving the 8ft straight edge all day fair play 👍
First class job and nice compliment at end of video.
Superb job. So nice to see a tradesman take pride in doing a job properly. Fantastic to see a young man master his trade and be enthusiastic about working. I'm sure I have seen this somewhere before?!!! Stay safe ATB
What a top lad Luke is. Amazing work ethic. I hope he continues to be so conscientious in his trade and not just when a camera is tracking him 😂 His parents must be so proud.
Nice touch at the end there Rodger - i agree .he’s also at the age where he hasn’t got the aches and pains so hell only get quicker and better with nothing holding him back
Really nice job from anyone let alone an 18 year old, well done Luke.

I’ve been a plasterer for 20 yrs I’ve done a few screeding jobs in my time and I gotta say
This lad is the best I’ve seen at it 👍🏻
Screeding is brutal in your body
I’d rather skim walls any day 😃
Always both educational and entertaining to watch your great vids 👍

That's the way I've floated floors since the 70's. Wonderful work. He should come to California and teach them how it's done.

Wisdom doesn’t come by age 👌👍
Good job.....hopefully the lad will go a long way!!!
Right SB I have just had a screed floor layed in my garage how long till I can walk on paint and park the car on top? Thanks for any advice 👍🏻
He makes it look so easy.
I'm old enough to know it ain't :-)
Spot on lad, quality work. 👍🏻
tough work, one of the hardest and most under rated trades, most plasterers 40 yrs ago could do this work very well, but now, trade on it's own, brilliant for 18yr old
Wow nice work! He is not using pure cement is he? What kind of bonding agent is being used here?
Great Video! Luke made it so so easy! Where is Luke base and does he have a contract?
Another great video watching quality trades doing perfect works.
I hope Luke and Lee pass on their skills to others and hope their business grows and grows

That looked like hard work, good job luke
Whats the bonding agent anyone in particular you recommend
Well done young man job for life there 👍🏻
Bravo Luke! Amazing Work!
Good lad 👍🏻
Great job. Would have been nice to plug their details so we could use them?
That is hard work right there! 👍🏻
Guys, what is the bonding agent called?
Well done!
are the block internal walls going to be drylined,if so is that why you laid the screed first,,cheers
FairPlay to him!! Fed up of having people on site who are just there for the money.
One of the best paid trades on a meter price. But the graft the do reflects there wages. If your looking for the best screedrs in the South East check out Harbert floor screeding highly reccomended!
He really wants to do a good job-- and he does one!
I have to agree with you this young lad is exceptional! I worked on some multi million £ houses in Weybridge in the late 90's and the screed was so bad; the symmetrical wallpaper and the radiators looked like they were way out of level!
Fair play to that lad! nice to watch.
Great work!
Top lad that. Fair play to him.
Good lad!
That's a seriously good job! If they're based in the South East, any chance you could pass on their contact details?

Luke I wish I was like you...great workmanship 😎
The best way to screed is to get someone else to do it😃👍🏻
LOL
Great job there, and as others have said nice to see youngsters taking pride in their work. I've got a small part of a garage floor i need to level at home, but I don't want to raise the floor height too much. What would you recommend I use to take out an 25mm drop over say about a meter? Could I use a screed like this to sort it? Thanks for the great channel Skill builder, I've learned loads from it.
i was going to screed my own floor but i quit after seeing this. looks like hard work
This is a big problem, when you are young and trying your best, sometimes you only want people to look at your job and be amazed by its quality. But because of your young age, no one takes you seriously. I left a few companies because of this attitude. It can be very discouraging but seeing videos like this makes me think there are a few valuable assets in the industry, I only hope most of them will be smarter and stronger than me and not give up. I can witness that there is a majority of cowboys in construction. Only the ones who really try should remain (my wish😊).
That’s some skills, I’m well impressed, I wish I could do that, I have all the materials but too scared to start ffs.
Awesome young man......
How do you lay a 20 - 30mm buiscuit screed like this without it breaking up. I was told min 65mm for a semi dry by my guys.
can't argue with that, he is good.
How much does the mixer and pimp your using cost?
