Always double and triple check your electrical cable and plug connections, whether it is automotive, home electrical outlets, computer/phone/cable connections. Things usually work better when you do.
I’m third owner of my 2011 Corolla. 143k now original engine and transmission. Super nice economical car, starts and drives perfectly, everything still works as it should. AC never been touched, it still freezes you on hot days. Chicago car, no rust on body so far. Bought this car 4 years ago on Scotty’s recommendations. Glad I did too, only one repair, a simple alternator last year. 😁
I can't imagine how INCREDIBLY VALUABLE it'd be to have Scott as a friend and mechanic. The owners of these cars he assesses are soooooooooo fortunate.
Glad you are not burning any oil. I had an 07 Prius and ran it all the way up to 139k without one repair. Only usual maintenance tires, oil, brakes etc. However at about 130k it started burning oil. At about 1 quart per week, i had to get rid of it. Some Toyotas have ring problems.

Mine is a 2001 Corolla 160i GLE. 410 000 kilometres. Had it since 2019. Second owner. Original engine & 5 speed manual transmission. Doesn’t burn oil and light on gas. Original paint still has ppl turning their heads in disbelief when I drive past 😂. Only major things done was to replace the clutch, flywheel, CV joints & the starter. Otherwise I just do the normal minor services after every 10 000km’s. Drives very smooth. Had to change the bumper twice as well 😂. Bumper 🤦🏽♂️
I've got a 2003 Corolla. 240,000 and still rolling strong. The kids grew up to learn to drive with it and gave it a few lumps and bumps along the way, but on she goes. Great little car!
My 2004 Chevy pickup has 335,000 miles (most not highway miles) and still has the original spark plugs, wires, tranny fluid, and just about every thing else. The battery has been replaced twice, and I think the alternator once, but other than that, rusted out fuel, transmission, and brake lines have been my only problems. The salted roads are starting to destroy it though. If I lived in Arizona I'd have practically no repairs and no rot.
my first car is a 2007 Pontiac G6 sedan with the 2.4 L and I love it. at the time, it was the quickest and most powerful mainstream midsize. it has 155,000 miles and still going strong, doesn’t burn any oil
I’ve changed many a spark plug in the last 49 years, and have never used a torque wench. 3/4 turn past snug for crush washers, 1/4 turn for non crush or washerless.
True BUT Telsa charge stations tells the person charging the car the cost per KWH. Agree you may not know how many KWH it will need while charging tho.
I disagree with not putting anti- seize grease on the threads. I have had to use a long 1/2” breaker bar with a long pipe extension to loosen spark plugs that were in the head for a long time with no anti-seize grease. Afterwards, I had to use a spark plug thread tap to clean the threads. A small dab of anti-seize grease prevents this from happening. The cause is due to corrosion from steel spark plugs in an aluminum head from dissimilar (steel/aluminum) metals reacting to each other.
This reminded me of my 1st car a 1970 buick skylark that was given to my aunt from my uncle's wife ...it was a 4 door with 200k miles puke green and rust. Nothing can compare to that A body suspension Like riding on a cloud. I cant believe they couldnt or wouldnt improve that 50yrs later. Almost forgot when i upgraded to electronic ignition there was a mix up at the junkyard they gave me a 6 cylinder distributor instead of 8 and the damn thing still ran. Like crap but still ran. The diagnostics in the 90s couldnt even figure it out said the distributor needed to be rebuilt but the dumbasses that said that still didnt realize it was a 6 cylinder distributor 😂

they put on the plastic cover because people will power wash the motor. That cover is a shield to protect the injectors and gaskets from the pressure washer. Its common used car dealers do this with wax. It causes rusted wire connections later.
Hey Scotty- you never said if the new plugs helped with the slow acceleration. Was wondering, the old one(s) looked worn and could have been the problem.
