A one off. Makes me cry every time I hear it. Ralph is the only person who can sing it
I see white horses dance on another ocean.
Such a beautiful and honest way he expresses his feelings.
I FINALLY was able to buy a 2nd hand copy of his album called Right side up. The cd's of this album are extremely rare. This is his album where he sings 'Clare to here'.
I don't know what else to say really
My words above say it all

Ralph once told the story of how this song came about.... He met this old Irish world war 2 veteran who told him his story. And this was pretty much it. He missed home and everything that was in it. He made promises he couldn't keep and always felt bad about it. He used to write letters home saying everything Ralph sung about in this song. War can do that to people. I don't think he ever got to see his Josephine again. ☮️☮️☮️☮️

As a frequent visitor to Ireland and a long-term fan of Ralph McTell I love this song and would be interested if anyone can identify the lough featured at the start of this video. The picture beginning at 11 is one that I have seen several times before. Can anyone could identify the location? I reckon that the picture beginning at 27 is in the Wicklow Mountains and the one beginning at 55 appears to be somewhere in the Dingle peninsula to judge from the road sign pointing to the Conor Pass. But where exactly? It's a pity that the photo is not sharp enough for the road signs to be legible (nor the URL displayed on the side of the pub). The photo beginning at 1.09 is another one I have seen before and would tentatively identify it as a view of the Sperrins just east of Moneymore (Co. Derry) I would also tentatively identify the scene beginning at 3.03 as the southern end of the Co. Clare coast. Can anyone confirm or deny the mountains beginning at 3.17 as the Mournes?
