that intro...u should be editing for movies! :)
Finally someone putting out a video with actual good advice and not insulting other drivers
Luke can you do a video on how you prep your truck when you park up for the night? Like what do you do, eat etc? Great Vid!
That was me on the A339 mentioned at 12:30 in this vid :-) keep up the good work and drive safe this week!
Great upload luke! , can't wait for the next one!
I've seen this one about 5 times now. And still enjoy it as much as the first time. Thanks Luke 👍
loving the intro, keep up the good work pal, watch all your videos! they are great!!!
Been looking forward to this since seeing the ad on facebook! Thanks for the release early 😀 by the way that intro was awesome!
I completely agree with you luke, you have to drive so carefully in these conditions, I was out last night 3 drops around the Midlands, not great distances but tuck me 11 hours, I was not taking any chances. Stay safe out there brother 😎👍...love your channel 👍
what a intro you should be a movie director thats some discovery Chanel shxt nice one
chris thejock I love editing stuff together. It’s why I started doing this channel :) working as a director would be cool but I wouldn’t stand a chance 😞
well to me that was deadliest catch intro well done watchin vlog now magic stuff well done
Really felt for you there driving down into Haslemere, know that area really well, used to drive a dustcart around there.Well done showed some good skills.Glad I'm now retired and living in Sunnier climes.Like watching your channel as it is in an area I know well.
Nice to know some drivers aren't in a rush. On Friday evening I was on the M6/M42/40 and 2 of 3 lanes were generally covered in snow and were sketchy. Cars were going 20-40 mph even though there was no traffic. But didn't stop lorries overtaking in the dodgy lanes going way quicker than the cars
luke you are good driver iv driven in the snow and i had to drive down back streets in 2 gear all the way be safe and keep up the good work
Another good vlog mate, that intro was something else, keep up the good work cheers 👍
Wow what a great vid id mark it as one of the best
Craig Job cheers craig :)
Interesting stuff. A lot more to driving an HGV than I ever thought. Stay safe.
Really good video Luke, well done. Better you than me driving in that awful weather. Other than the driving itself, your pronunciation of town names is always the highlight...!
Not quite 100% a big truck drivers fan but respect you guys for how you dealt with this week, being a van driver myself it was not fun at all!
Intro spot on Luke. Drive safe in this weather..
Im been out in all the time it. Was snowing. For my job. Great video
Great video Luke, showing the shitty conditions in towns.
Ever used the manual selector on the right of steering wheel with the gearbox in manual? Works wonders in the snow, i drive a MAN TGS 440 pulling a 29,000L milk tanker. Really is very useful in deep stuff.
Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Great video, loved the intro too!
Had the same all last week brother, Birmingham particularly scared me yesterday. Whats more scary is the way other drivers, car and truck attack the roads and the speed they do it! Great intro Luke, very pro, have a great weekend dude
Great video and A great bit of driving 👏👏👏
You drove very well in those situations. Another great video Luke!
Nice driving
Well done Luke. Good to see driving like that when the roads are so bad. Luke D.
That intro was sick......... keep it up luke.. good job dude.
Nice editing and good job with the snow driving.
Another brilliant vlog I’m only driving 12 miles a day and it scares the hell out of me I drive so slowly and yet people go past at like 60mph in the fast lane and I’m doing 30 it’s just so scary imo I hate driving in the snow bring on the summer x
Fair play luke, that intro was exceptional. Hats of too you sir 👏🏻
awesome video! that editing was sick! sad there won't be a saturday upload!
Good bit of driving Luke stay safe have a good weekend
Excellent driving!
It's bad enough driving a small car in this weather, driving an HGV would be much more scary! The Beast sure kicked our butts in central Scotland, drive safe everybody! Cool video once again Luke.
Such a good intro!
Lol that laugh..Great video, it's been an horrendous week for a hgv driver.
That road from beacon hill to Haslemere is always a bummer when there is snow and ice i used to live near your drop off point
Will be getting our own winter storm across the Canadian prairies starting today in Alberta end Monday in Manitoba. Not sure what number this one is lol
Hello dude that was some shocking weather on Thursday I started work at 2pm and by 3pm the plough on the front of my Tug was down all day and grit at the same time.It was a losing battle they had to shut down all the doors in B&Q distribution Center as the snow was just blowing in and making the floor unsafe to continue working. In the end, it was just me trying to keep the yard clear until 10pm when I handed over to the night crew. Next time you're in our yard say hi. Loving the Vlog mate you're showing me what I'm missing as I have now been a shunter for B&Q Swindon for to long but health reason keeps me off the road.
Keep the shiny side up and the pedal to the metal..!
Big thumbs up from me.
CIDER....!
Southern England - where winter tires are an unusual feature. I spent 8 months in Winchester and just a tiny amount of snow caused a mess.
ehsnils yep it does mate. Doesn’t take much does it
Very good driving luke 👍👍
It's is interesting how much some snow can cripple a country not used to it. That is nothing compared to what we get where I live. Stay safe out there.
I love that editing in the beginning
loved that little intro
That used to be my favourite lay-by when I used to do a lot of work down that way. Used to get really annoyed when I couldn’t get in it. 😂😂
Good job Luke! Well done. I know those roads very well and felt for you in some spots of the second half of the video. As Tricky Dicky wrote, it's 'hazel mere' (you did ask).
Richard Cain that hill doesn’t look as steep on camera as it did in person! Lol I was trying to stay straight going down and trying not to spin out going up 😂
Good driving Luke 👍👍👍👍👍
even my heart was in my mouth when you were driving on them roads, great vid ,keep safe luke in them conditions and that goes for all them lads on the road.
It was like the crests run down that hill Well done
Defected my truck on Wednesday as washer pipes were frozen up. Not safe to drive especially on the M25 where there’s sometimes 40+ miles between services to pull over and clean screen
nice driving luke nice 1
GM Opticlene washer fluid is the stuff you want. In winter use it neat and you're good to -30C. I dilute it 4:1 and it's still good enough to deice my windscreen at -4C. Not cheap, about £30 for 5 litres from your local Vauxhall garage, but 5 litres does me a year as you need very little of it. Far better than the premix crap from Halfords and the likes. Also diluted way down like 10:1 in summer it is great for taking bugs off.
Great intro Luke.
I was second man on abnormal load in icy road condition and we had to hit the side of the road to stop us because the load was heavy and it was pushing us down the hill and the driver was trying to stop us from hitting on coming traffic . We did damage the lorry and the load we were carrying which was a 60 ton crawler craine
Saw a van today using snow chains etc if I was in the car I'd have towed it lol or had a go at trying too but wasn't but we as a nation just aren't prepared for snow like the last few days
Saw a car do a an unitential doughnut on the ice and a car down the bank etc and snow drifts etc
But well impressed with the Ford on the ice drives through snow great
when I was going to school in the 70s in winter the snow would be up to my knees at least 2 ft deep and we still walked to school. Beast from the east. 5mm of snow and everything stops. HEALTH AND SAFETY GONE MENTAL.
At least two feet to your knees. You must have been a tall child :)
Luke... I’ve just passed my C+E and starting my career at the end of March. But I need a satnav. Which one do you use and would you recommend it? Love your videos. Cheers pal.
The Suffolk Carpenter I think he is using a tomtom go professional 6250
Little tip for you Luke , add about half a cup of antifreeze to a the washer bottle .
Worked for me down to -6 , do not make the mix to strong though it will bugger the paintwork if you use ethylene glycol
This reminds me of Sweden when we get our first snow, total kaos :D
Damn what a videos and 50k subs later going on strong
does anyone know the name of his ringtone? cheers
fair play for managing those roads
Your thumbnail is top haha what a pose!
Good job Luke. You could have done no more.👍🏻❄️🚚
I should of watched this when I came out I was off on the Thursday and the friday
Great vid 👍. Silly ppl in cars too fedup of them
I had issues getting back from Scotland, a66 shut down, and I think it is still shut. By the time I got back I had jelly brain. We were told to stand down till further notice. I'm sure Ill be back on Mon.
Luke it is what it is everyday.Your there when your there. The weather is rubbish.Take you time.Get there safely.if they go home.another night out.they still need the delivery.next day👍
26:30 -Luke, can you not manually lock it into gear? I know on the Volvo/Renaults I've driven you can do this and it will hold the gear for a steady descent.
Techie question, I know but I am curious as to how much control the MAN gives to its driver in such conditions.
TheSaintST1 I can but it kicks back out again after a few seconds.
Hey luke, I think you're getting a little mixed up with the gear selector functions, if you pull up or push down the right hand stalk it will change up/down a gear and hold it in manual mode for a short while (you'll see little triangles next to the gear display on the dash) but if you push the little inch long collar near the end of the stalk (not talking about the retarder button on the end of the stalk btw) inwards toward the steering wheel it will select between manual/auto mode until you press the collar in again, thus giving you continued manual mode for as long as you require it, you then obviously change up and down gears using the stalk as you'd expect.
I used to ride my kh100 in the snow and ice just ride very slowly and with your feet hanging down ready.
Is it common to get winter weather like this in the U.K.? This doesn’t even look that bad compared to the winter weather much of the US gets.
KentB27 no mate it isn’t normal. The slightest bit of snow and ice and the uk comes to a halt. The roads are nearly Undrivable despite local authorities Best attempts at keeping the roads safe.
Thing is, all our roads are narrow and there isn’t any room for mistakes. If one car comes off the likely hood of it hitting something else Is quite high. 😂
Luke C in a HGV That is true about the narrow roads and I would guess that many drivers in the UK are not prepared for winter weather since you all don’t experience it as frequently as North America does. Glad you stayed safe out there.
KentB27 were just used to rain ☔️😂
No, we have snow, but not as much as other places.
There is 7in outside our house now (Welsh hills) and the wifes out driving.
The problem is auto gearboxes and people that haven't learnt to handle bad conditions. The last snow to stop me was compacted, drifting to around 2.5ft, with ice below. That was on the tops going over to Burnley in Lancashire. That was the early 80's sometime.
There are drivers, then there are drivers.......
At 2.12 minutes the guy in hi Vis on the left looked like he was praying in the hedge?
Frigging autobox when you want a gear and it gives you three lol thank goodness you got the diff locks as well not all trucks have them..
Glad the snows going otherwise your going to be a quivering wreck 😂
Mate I don’t mind driving in the snow ❄️ ⛄️
I understand its no t funny, but as mentioned before in sweden and in east side of eu where i live, it is normal for temps to drop below -30 C and we are common to get 20+cm of snow over night :D And noone looses their head.
In those countries, low temps and lots of snow is a yearly occorunce and lasts a while. Those countries and their people have adapted and invested in driving and working in such conditions. Everyone is used to it. In the UK and Ireland, this sort of thing happens once every four or five years and only lasts a few days. The infrastructure isn't there (snow ploughs, gritters etc) because there's no point spending tonnes of money on something that rarely happens. It also means barely anyone knows how to drive in these conditions.
Did you get any extra pay all week due to not a lot of drivers turning up?? Well I did and got an extra £9 quid an hour (£18.76) per hour and plus £5 per delivery for a class 2 multi drop driver which is the best wage I’ve ever got from my company!! There was apparently 3 drivers out of 10 in today so I’ve worked 5 days a week do far whilst normally I’d do 4 days per week and picked up the weekend as-well at double rates. But I’ve been covering 2 drivers rounds so I got a full 13hrs in everyday.
Oliver Clarke who do you work for? I’m trying to find multi drop work but all I find is dustcart work
ScottyG134. I currently work for SPAR delivering things to their stores but I might not recommend it as it is back breaking work getting all the trollies out of the back of the lorry
Luke you can select manual on a auto gearbox and hold it in the gear you want I all so drive a 44 ton truck and use manual a bit
I know exactly what you mean about the 19 year old.. being 19 years old myself, I was driving 40mph in a 70 behind a truck when the car infront of it in a blizzard spun out, still had plenty of room to brake.. nothing dangerous about it so the minibus driver 100% must've been driving either too close or too fast. The outcome is a shame but nobody's going to shout at you for driving a bit slower in these conditions!
I live in Siberia. We have a winter cold 60-65C (record -72,3). Snow can fill the house to the roof. Summer heat + 40C. Changes in temperature more than 100C. And this is the norm for us. We live well and have fun.
Andreas Gvardinas HI just one question how do your household water pipes not freeze up?
+red dragon
In our pipes flowing vodka! Ha ha! That's a joke. In fact, they are buried in the ground below the depth of freezing.
Ha ha I walked into that one ! Just curious because as a plumber I should have known the answer although I was thinking pipes in houses
The pipe under the ground comes up to the house and on upper floors.
If you have time, look how to Siberia came from Germany tourist: ruclips.net/video/3KInXvWoq9U/видео.html
It’s 44 mins long 😱
Yes the Beast won for me as well My Class 1 driving test got cancelled :( just been rebooked for the 12th lets hope I can get it done
What sat nav are you using?
One that works :) I believe it's a Trucker's TomTom not sure of the model though.
I posted that speed limit post then remembered you guys down there have an extra 10mph 😂
Campbell yeah I saw you deleted it 😂. 50 on single
60 on duel down here
This weather great, I’m at scania been in breakdowns all day😂
Being Scanias that doesn’t surprise me
Daniel Gould lol, only good truck out there, best aftersales service and care, the rest are cheap and bollocks mate😂
Oliver Bullock
I agree. Well when they’re not getting gearbox malfunction and co ordinator malfunction messages etc etc
Daniel Gould what wagon do you drive mate
Please be safe out there Luke.
Hazel mere.
Put anti freeze in with your window screen wash.
Feel bad for all the Truckers out there
Diff lock will make you slide on corners as both wheels are travelling the same speed.
I got stuck on the A31 till 3AM.... was a nightmare!
Alright Luke? If you switch gearbox to manual when in tricky conditions or in tight yards ,you are in full control over when you want to change gear or choose to stay in your chosen gear. Hasn't anyone showed you how to drive in manual mode?.
They have but the dozy marshmallow was too busy eating when he was shown
Hi Cjaz. Yes i know how to switch it in to manual mosde. problem is, it switches back out after a few seconds. id rather have semi control over an auto box then having to keep worrying about switching it into manual everytime it kicks back into auto. :)
rude
Hey luke, I think you're getting a little mixed up with the gear selector functions, if you pull up or push down the right hand stalk it will change up/down a gear and hold it in manual mode for a short while (you'll see little triangles next to the gear display on the dash) but if you push the little inch long collar near the end of the stalk (not talking about the retarder button on the end of the stalk btw) inwards toward the steering wheel it will select between manual/auto mode until you press the collar in again, thus giving you continued manual mode for as long as you require it, you then obviously change up and down gears using the stalk as you'd expect.
Luke C in a HGV sorry
That laugh xD
Some or all of the crashes could be bad drivers meeting bad weather?
There is hardly any snow on the ground
Andreas Johansson lots of ice though!
Black ice.
Yes
Just a question for viewers (and Luke if you know the answer) do many truckers watch your video.
From what I gather, more people without a licence watch, but people with a licence watch too. I'd say it was 60/40
Completely off the subject of weather, weird how you live and drive in England and have a Northern Irish reg, and I live and drive in Northern Ireland (also drive in Southern Ireland) but have an English reg lol
has been 20-30 below here in south of norway... 40-50 some places north. gotta love global warming. no problems in traffic tho
That was mr crumble on his motorbike
Diff Lock !!!! Where's the snow/ ice !!?? The Beast from the East ...Was that what you were running away from the other night ??
The diff lock was on and I was still spinning. That’s where the ice was. There was literally 3 accidents in this video alone and more that I didn’t catch. That’s where the ice is 😂
