I have just installed the Lightme app, and then this video came up in my recommendations when searching for more info on light metering apps. Glad I chose what appears as your number 1 pick.
Yeah, "My Light Meter Pro" would've been on my list too. What I especially like is the "Classic" interface: There I can immediately see/read several shutter speed/aperture combinations! For "serious" applications, I just use the Lumu app (without the Lumu incident metering thingy that I also have, a somewhat older model).
Good to hear My Light Meter Pro get mentioned high on the list here. I’ve had it for years but never used it. Now the internal light meter has croaked on one of my Nikon FM film cameras, so I guess I’ll be using it for that one. 😉
Thanks for the information I too am a avid Spotmeter user user since 1973. My Soligor spot meter has died on me and I will try your recommendations until I find a good used Pentax or Soligor 1 degree spot meter. I had been meaning to get a phone meter app but there were so many of them. have been seeing more of you content since I found your channel and like the way you explain photography information. You research the information and understand it. I think I will try the number one and two apps you suggested. Thanks.
Hey, can you make a detail tutorial on Lightme? I’m currently using it but it’s bit difficult to understand since I’m quite new in analog world. Thanks.
Hey this was really helpful. I'm about to check if you've already reviewed any lumisphere white dome accessories to attach to a smartphone. I was looking for reviews for a budget light meter device to buy, which I still may get for incidental readings for exposure ratios in portraits or narrative filmmaking... But maybe will be enough to use the "My Light Meter Pro" app with a white dome accessory. I see it mentions that option in the PDF manual: 5:24
I’ve been using My Light Meter Pro for quite some time. I find it to be highly accurate, plus it’s easy to use. I also have the Pocket Meter app but never use it. The UI is a bit clunky.
Agreed. Though if you want something updated and improved I see how the subscription would make that more likely. HATE paying monthy. would rather have annual options with a good trial and cancelation guarantee of some sort.
Why would you check to get it on Apple. Make iPhones. You have to be a dope to use an iPhone. So you got one that I can't get are you checking with phones that are twice as expensive as a regular phone.
So, 80% of the apps you tested are not available for about 80% of smartphones out there 🤨Great... Why not make it Apple exclusive and not waste everybody else's time?
The best ones are only available on IOS… I do not make them. My Light meter pro seems the only one for both. I even bought an android phone to test out the few that I found…it is a Samsung Galaxy. Honestly the experience was so bad I just gave up 🤷🏻♂️
This video is perfect, I have been fumbling around trying to find the right app for me. Thanks a million.

I like Light Me a lot... used it this week in a pinch and it worked great!

Thank you, appreciate that! Hope it works well for you, definitely prefer the Pentax over the phone 👍

App makers with their subscriptions always... For me a reason to skip it. Thanks for the video btw. :)
Your welcome! Yeah not a fan unless there is a specific reason it would be needed. In the case of these apps not what I would want 👍

Which type can I use to measure a light foot candle?
Great information!
Thanks!
hello, I'm using Lightme too, tks for your video.
Thanks, It is a great app!
Note to app developers: most people would rather just pay a small up front payment than a subscription. Or light me which is free and kicks butt

Do these light meter apps also measure white balance?
@@christopheradams2645 some of them do, not sure how accurate they are though

Just wanna say… fuck subscription lol I don’t need another subscription I have to keep track of…

They all suck. Get a real lightmeter.
