HIGH SPEED PHOTOGRAPHY - TUTORIAL & IDEAS

  • High speed photography is a fascinating and powerful form of image making. It may be something that you have shied away from because it seems too technical, and it can be very technical, but it doesn’t always need to be. Sometimes it can just be about releasing the shutter at the right point.
    In this video we look at high-speed photography as more of a concept for creating interesting images, rather than just being a technical exercise.

      @jamiewindsor Hi Jamie. I always love your content - you are an incredible engineer of your videos. The zoom through the O of Google, the highlighted cat, water, Dali etc. Phenomenal level of effort finishing your videos that in themselves are a work of art. I just hope other viewers appreciate it as much as I do it's a sensory feast Anyway, I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking... how long does it take to cut and edit one of your videos? Thanks for all you do! 👍😁

    • @jamiewindsor
      @jamiewindsor  Год назад +3

      @@AnthonyTurnham Thanks. This one took me a few weeks to cut together, but there is also planning, finding/making a soundtrack, talking to the artists, researching and writing the script, recording and filming etc. All in all, it takes me a few months normally. But I also have several on the go at once so it’s kind of difficult to pin it down to a time. I have ADHD, so I’m pretty impulsive and tend to just work on what I feel like at the time. My sense of timescale is way off!

After what has befallen you, it always gives one a sense of foreboding when there are those long stretches where there is no sign that you are alive and well. But you make every single video count. Exceptional. The best photography lessons I've found online, although I must admit I slowed my search down to a crawl when I found your stuff, Jamie. In addition to the clear, straightforward way in which you explain certain techniques, I really appreciate how you take the time to share historical photographers (usually film) who originally perfected the technique and add contemporary artists (usually digital) to illustrate what can be done with modern tools. Bravo.

    I'm surprised how many times i've had to get a fast shutter speed shot, and I'm not even very prolific. It's a really key thing to learn, and if you can set up a micro studio (where you don't have to pack it down after every session) you can really dial beyond just the settings and get to personal preference and creative decision making.
