HIGH SPEED PHOTOGRAPHY - TUTORIAL & IDEAS
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 ноя 2024
- High speed photography is a fascinating and powerful form of image making. It may be something that you have shied away from because it seems too technical, and it can be very technical, but it doesn’t always need to be. Sometimes it can just be about releasing the shutter at the right point.
In this video we look at high-speed photography as more of a concept for creating interesting images, rather than just being a technical exercise.

What a gift to see a new Jamie Windsor video!
Agreed!!
Sorry it's been so long. I've had a lot going on. I've got 4 more videos on the go at the moment too, so hopefully the break won't be so long next time.
Hope things are a little easier in your life now!
@@jamiewindsor can’t wait! Legitimately my favorite RUclips channel
@@jamiewindsor Another good ocean/surf photographer is a guy name Clark Little.
Every single video Jamie posts is a tremendous learning experience. No one else on RUclips is diving into the theory and using examples like Jamie does. This one is no different 🔥
Jamie, I hope you know that you have one of the best photography's and art channels on RUclips. Well curated content, explained in a way that only who has the gift of teaching would know how to do it. Thanks a lot for taking your photography - and knowledge - beyond.
I mean our photography and knowledge*, but also yours too :D
Thank you. I’m glad you find my videos helpful.
@@jamiewindsor Lots of us we do! ;)
@jamiewindsor Hi Jamie. I always love your content - you are an incredible engineer of your videos. The zoom through the O of Google, the highlighted cat, water, Dali etc. Phenomenal level of effort finishing your videos that in themselves are a work of art. I just hope other viewers appreciate it as much as I do it's a sensory feast Anyway, I'm curious, if you don't mind me asking... how long does it take to cut and edit one of your videos? Thanks for all you do! 👍😁
@@AnthonyTurnham Thanks. This one took me a few weeks to cut together, but there is also planning, finding/making a soundtrack, talking to the artists, researching and writing the script, recording and filming etc. All in all, it takes me a few months normally. But I also have several on the go at once so it’s kind of difficult to pin it down to a time. I have ADHD, so I’m pretty impulsive and tend to just work on what I feel like at the time. My sense of timescale is way off!
Your videos are incredible.
Feels like I'm watching a documentary with a very passionate and educated host.
Thank you so much for teaching me!
Your transitions and typographic animations inspire me to lift my game, or at least feel appropriately bad about not being as ambitious as you! 😅 Fantastic work as usual.
Great to hear from you and see you again on RUclips. After what has befallen you, it always gives one a sense of foreboding when there are those long stretches where there is no sign that you are alive and well. But you make every single video count. Again, a perfect blend of photographic art history, contemporaries, practical tips and trials, all told in this elegant, engaging, and yet humane way that has become a hallmark of your channel. You deserve every single one of your subscribers, Jamie.
Those photographs of waves nearly moved me to tears. Absolutely astounding work. I am floored.
Absolutely love the examples, you really curated a great selection of expressive works and highlighted their themes beyond just how they were made, and that's what really makes for an inspirational teacher
Welcome back!! Please post more!! 😃❤️
I will. I have a load more videos I've been working on simultaneously so the break hopefully won't be as long next time.
Very inspirational and beautifully crafted video. Thank you, Jamie! ❤
Great to see you back with another excellent video, and wishing for a healthy future for you!
I've done my bit of high-speed photography, and you're right: one has to be very patient, try different settings, and take lots of photos...
I always feel like I’m attending the most prestigious and interesting photography class at some university when I’m watching one for your videos 👨🏽🎓 always a pleasure
Your deep insights and articulate explanations not only make the concept accessible but also ignite a newfound appreciation for the art of photography. The way you seamlessly blend technical expertise with creative vision is truly inspiring. Your passion for the subject is contagious, and it's evident that you genuinely love sharing your knowledge with your audience. Thank you for this incredible exploration - you've not only educated us but also sparked a whole new level of excitement for capturing moments with our cameras. Keep up the fantastic work, Jamie! Looking forward to more mind-blowing content from you!
My goodness this man makes great videos
I hope your health is on good track Jamie, warm regards from Bangkok and thanks for creating such amazing content!
Thanks. I'm still waiting for my transplant operation at the moment, but I feel healthy enough in myself at the moment.
I hope you get your transplant soon xx@@jamiewindsor
I was just wishing for a Jamie Windsor video today, and it appeared! Excellent content and I love the focus on creativity.
Thank you for another wonderful video Jamie.
More than anyone I know of, I am looking forward to hear your take about AI photo generation and the new AI tools in PS and how they affect photography from artist and philosophic perspective.
Just throwing an idea.. :)
He’s baaaaaasack!! I always look forward to your videos ❤
Exceptional. The best photography lessons I've found online, although I must admit I slowed my search down to a crawl when I found your stuff, Jamie. In addition to the clear, straightforward way in which you explain certain techniques, I really appreciate how you take the time to share historical photographers (usually film) who originally perfected the technique and add contemporary artists (usually digital) to illustrate what can be done with modern tools. Bravo.
Soo good to see a Jamie Windsor video again. Of the many RUclipsrs I watch you are among the top 5.
I found your channel yesterday, and I can't believe how beautiful your videos are. They are so educational, but at the same time, they are art.
Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge and magic with us.
Regards from Vancouver, Canada.
I stopped watching all other photography channels. This is the only one I need. Brilliant presentation and content. Thank you.
As good as photography education on the internet gets, and thoroughly inspirational. Thank you as always for the discovery of seminal work!
I feel that I've had my horizons broadened. Got more information out of this video than many a university lecture.
These are wonderful. Immediately made me think of Sean Ellis' film Cash Back
That's the film about the creepy guy who imagines all the supermodels who frequent his supermarket in the nude, right?
@@ihateunicorns867 You obviously saw a very different film
thank God, you’re back. Think about you a lot and plan to watch every single one of your upcoming videos multiple times to get your view counts up. This platform needs artists of your caliber!
Your videos are always so eye opening to me! I'm just an amateur photographer but your video essays not only teach me new ways of looking at photography but also inspire me to go and shoot. Now let's see what my camera can do in terms of shutter speed and maxing out the ISO...
Another gorgeously put together video that's filled with useful information! Very inspiring... in fact I'm going to have a mess around this weekend with some high speed shots!
Thank you Jamie! Hope you are fine and all is good for you
🤯 erh-- that confetti shot was my friend’s wedding-a decade ago. I was there.
So good to see Ray Williams work here
This was an inspiring bit of work. Many thanks. I miss your wonderful commentary and insights on so many subjects. I hope you're doing well and planning some more goodies for us. Yours is a unique and valuable voice. Thanks for all you do!
It’s always a great day when a new Jamie Windsor video appears !!
Thank you for your videos. They are very inspirational and educational.
What a thoroughly planned photography lesson. I enjoyed this video very much.
Your videos are always inspiring because you know your topics and know how to explain or present them to us viewers. I bought and read Roland Barthes "Camera Lucida" after seeing your episode on that and I decided to get ND-filters since you showed me they're not only good for milky seascapes but can be used in lots of ways. Thank you!
Yet another wonderful distraction. Seeing a new post from you is like a another birthday.
Good to see you back, Jamie! You look great! 😃
Your videos are always very inspiring. I think I might start to experiment with what you just talked about. Thank you and hope you are getting better
thank you so much! this helped me grasp the concept of high speed photography ❤
We hope you’re well Jamie!
I always come away from every video feeling inspired
Jamie, your videos are food for the soul. Thank you.
Pleasure to see you again, Jamie! You were greatly missed. Thanks for the new video and hope to see another one(s) soon. Cheers from Ukraine 💛
Hi Jamie, I just want to let you know that your videos are amazing. You are one of the first photographers in RUclips that I watched when I jumped into photography early this year. Your videos are amazing, your style is so engaging and artistic, your effort that goes into each video is phenomenal and very professional. I wish you the best, hope you can keep it coming, and thank you for your amazing videos.
I just realized I used amazing 3 times hahaha. Well, it is amazing.
I really enjoy your videos. I would just like to say thank you for the fantastic contents. It is very inspiring.
Brilliant presentation thank you. Hope you are well.
Good to see you're back Jamie 👍
I'm happy Jamie is Back - Much Love from Naples Florida.
Thank you again for this masterpiece Jamie. This isn't getting the exposure it deserves. From your coherent explanation to inspiring transitions and music selection. I today finally experienced a palette of feelings I did not get in two decades. Is it possible to know what musics you used to craft this ? Many thanks...
Christmas has come early! Jamie Windsor video, insta-like. 🎉
These video's don't come by everyday but when they do it's always well worth the wait! Quality over quantity. ❤
Excellent video! I really liked the script. Really complete video. For sure I'll watch it several times through the time
Great to see another upload Jamie, I hope everything outlined in your last video is going well and you're doing better with regards to your health!
Wonderful , thanks Jamie.
Great to have content from you, Jaime.
I just bursted "YAY!!!" seeing you uploaded a video without even watching it!
Definitely trying it. I'm always impress by the visual quality of your videos. And I really appreciate the way you talk and pause. It allows me to think about what you're saying, as you're saying it. Great work again!
Thank you, Jamie. You never disappoint.
Welcome back Jamie! Happy to hear you again🎉
Wow its been a long! Hopefully youtubes algorithm wont hide this video from people to see! Cant wait for next ones!
Love your channel, feels more sophisticated and intelligent than the 'do this one thing for great shots' and 'whats in my bag' type channels, always great content, thanks.
I love sooo much your work, the fact that you give the refs of great photographers for the topic, I love it!!!
So happy to see a new video on your channel Jamie!
Wonderful. Thank you for this
THANKS Jamie, can't wait for the next one.
Brilliant, thank you.
Ne plus ultra!
So good to see you back!
welcome back Jamie , missed your videos .. that was very informative and inspirational .
Thanks for this.
Some amazing inspiration.
Thank you!
Im really interested in both fast in slow, for different effects. This video is very detailed, informative and important, because it also considers the idea/concept and composition.
I miss your videos, they are my favourite, alway great info in them, glad to see you back, thank you, Jamie!
very pleased to have this pop up in my notifications! im a new subscriber and a new photographer so it's very exciting to have a new video to check out :)
Hi Jamie, thanks for introducing us to these great photographers. Your video is quite interesting and great fun to watch!
Excellent! Another stunning insight to other photographers process. Also insight into your amazing creative vocabulary Jamie. Thanks.
Always a masterpiece
Glad to see you're back! Very interesting images and techniques, I think I'll give it a try! It's a pleasure to watch your videos, it always is. Thank you for these pleasant minutes on my lunch break.
I love love love every video you make Jamie. Thanks for another great one.
What a pleasure to see you again. Thank you for this new great video !
Cheers Jamie, I'm trying to rekindle my passion and this has helped 😎
Great to see you back Jamie...
I'm surprised how many times i've had to get a fast shutter speed shot, and I'm not even very prolific. It's a really key thing to learn, and if you can set up a micro studio (where you don't have to pack it down after every session) you can really dial beyond just the settings and get to personal preference and creative decision making.
I love the technical nature of high speed photography. Which begs the question, did I miss you saying which lens you used? I shot surreal drop photos using xanthan gum, glycerin and food coloring with the sony 85 1.8 and some macro tubes. Great video and nice to see you back.
Soooo good to have you back!
Superb as usual. Another high quality video. It’s great to be introduced to new genres, new photographers and new techniques.
A new JW video is always a good day
Welcome back Jamie, we missed you.
Good to see you again. I trust the health stuff is moving in a positive direction.
I am convinced that this guy is literally the Michael Stevens of photography.
I just love your videos so much, always a chance to discover some new artists ❤
thank you
Thanks for the great inspiration!
Good to see you back, good health to you
Great vid Jamie 👌 always learn loads and get the brain thinking watching your vids 🤯
Yayyy, we missed you! 😊
Lovely to see a video from you. Very informative and inspiring. Hope your health is getting better.
Every video you make is a masterclass!! Amazing!
@7:08 That was clever. The whole video was very well put together. Thank you sir.
You can thank generative fill for that one!
I always look forward to your next videos. great one!
Can't wait to see what photographers create within high-speed photography when the new A9 III comes out
Loved the video, the topic and the editing! Good job indeed. You chose wisely also the font; is it Microgramma/Eurostyle or a Google font inspired by them?
