@@matsi1944 I have visited it on a previous occasion but I didn't film it on this visit. I will be back in Brussels soon, so I hope to film it then. Subscribe to the channel to see it when I am next in Belgium.
Hi Chris it is indeed the intention to keep the "Historic Gallery" as it is: it goes back to the 1920's, when museums didn't have storage rooms: everything they had therefor was on display. As the other halls are or will be adapted to the new presentation techniques used in museums all over the world, the historic gallery will be kept as it always has been, just to let people see how museums used to display things in the interbellum. So, as the people of the War Heritage Institute put it, it is actually a "museum in a museum", and it will kept this way.
While the video leaves much to desire it goes a long way, pardon the pun, to impressing on the viewer the massive scale of the displays and their high quality! The museum's WWI exhibit is the largest I have ever scene and this includes out National Museum of World War I here in my home state of Missouri here in the USA. I visited there in 2006 was very impressed. So many firearms of every description almost all in pristine condition including the many, many experimental examples. :)
Yes, sorry about video quality etc, these short films are only intended to give a rough guide and as you say show the massive extent of the museum so hopefully more people will take the chance to vist themselves for a close up view.
Thanks for the video, we plan to go this year.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the visit.
Great video to get an overview of the museum.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it.
Did you also visited the medieval section?@@chrisdale-militaryhistory
