    ----
Hannah gave the approval for my large collection of 1:87 trains and vehicles to take up half our basement, my father and I built the table around 2013-2014. Wrapping around the walls with a large peninsula in the corner of the basement rec room. I had always wanted a switching layout with multiple customers and detailed scenery and industries. How I would design would take quite a few years of moving industries from one end to the other.
Finally in about 2021-2022 I figured I would model some sort of pulp mill totally freelance having all the railcar tracks, woodyard and truck traffic. Trying different things I finally figured out this would pretty much be the best way utilzing the space on the Peninsula.
I finally got track laid the way I wanted it and everything starting to flow how one would see these types of industries. Growing up with my family working at the local pulp mill (closed in 2009) I had always wanted to recreate something similar with my model trains. My other big interest is intermodal modelling a modern large CN Intermodal terminal. I recently moved this and explain it briefly in the video of the future plans.
Slowly the next steps are to start fixing the track to all flex track, installing the rail scale, roadbed, wiring the mill tracks, and cutting in the truck dumper. Once these next steps are done I will start scenery with ballast, roads, parking lots, and the woodyard.
I can finally run switching operations at the mill and interchange traffic in and out on the spur. The curve to along the wall is very tight but can handle autoracks and six axle power. They would not travel this section of track, there is a static mainline and siding along the front wall of our house that I will place some mainline action for viewing. The next step will be to start building a small yard off the service track/mill spur with a few thru tracks and fiddle yard. This will take some planning as I would like to use where my intermodal terminal was for a larger woodyard for the mill and the entire sawmill area and garage/laydown area for 1:87 heavy equipment. And the list goes on as you will see in the short video!
I model modern CN with plenty of CP with no real timeline. Just collecting the models and having some fun when I am bored. Stay tuned to the channel for future updates!
    Cheers!
