Jim, you apologized a lot in this video. I don't think that much apology was necessary. I am Nigerian and have followed your work for years and I haven't noticed any kind of bias from you or from the people who work with you. Keep up the good work.👍🏾

Damn! Almost half of this informative video is spent apologizing and issuing a disclaimer because overly-sensitive and dishonest people will be in their feelings and start crying about discrimination or rac*ism.
I'm also from West Africa and this was almost painful to watch.
The world must start doing better.
Thanks for the video by the way.

If it’s happening over and over again from one country, what do you expect? They’re known for fraud marriages and there are evidences to that. The things happening in the US stays there, they don’t carry it to other countries. It’s their country and their rules. If you can’t abide by them, stay in your country. Immigration is a privilege and not a right.

Yes, it is. My husband, who's Nigerian, finally got his interview Sept 2023 after 4 years of trying . He's now in Administrative processing as they do most cases. He's spoken with an agent twice and they tell him they've escalated the case bcz its no reason for it to be in AP and ask him to wait on an email. Of course, We've been waiting since.

Yes what you are saying is true about Nigerian men and the reason why Nigeria cases are more than the rest of Africans countries is because of their large population. Nigeria send more immigrants to the USA than any other African countries.
Having said the above it’s very important to know that cases like that of Nigerians are also high among the east European countries like Ukraine even before the war going on that country today.

Hi Jim, I have a few questions based on your experience:
    1) how long does it take for a US citizen to process immigrant visas for their overseas spouse living in Nigeria to come join them here?
    2) Is it an easier process if the US citizen petitioning for the overseas spouse is also Nigerian by birth, i.e. dual citizenship (Nigerian-American)?

Nigeria is a country with a massive population.
A tribe called FULANI is currently kidnapping for ransom, killing farmers, and destroying their farms.
This has driven a lot of farmers away from farming. That in turn has led to a huge food scarcity and inflation.
High cost of food is forcing so many Nigerians to look for greener pastures abroad, and a good number end up in the USA.
This situation will only get worse, because things are getting worse in Nigeria.
Obama is partly to blame. When ISIS/ISWAP came to Nigeria, Obama refused to sell war helicopters to Nigeria for fighting the Fulani terrorist groups. That allowed the terrorists to become established in Nigeria.
Today, one way the USA could help stem the flow of Nigerians into the US is to help fight ISIS in Nigeria. When Trump drove them out of the middle east, they all fled to Nigeria.

I moved to USA when I was 5 from Nigeria. My sibling filed for an adjustment of status for me in my early 20’s. They didn’t approve it until my late 30’s.
I rejected the approval and left America. I never plan on going back or getting my green card. I wasted my years waiting for that status. If I could do it all over, I would have left America in my early 20’s.
Being undocumented created fear, insecurity and paranoia. I will never let the idea of a country have that hold on me again. There’s no such thing as the American dream.
You can dream in any country. Even here in Nigeria, they call me Americana and it pisses me off.

I understand your feeling and it’s even worse in European countries though they will not allow you to stay until you are 20yrs old before they return you back to your country.

You have nothing to apologize for, you didn't create the problem nor did you come up with this this solution. USCIS has been getting complains for decades from US citizen women that their Nigerian husband hid a second family whom he considered his "real wife". His plan was to get the marriage green card, divorce his US citizen spouse and bring his Nigerian spouse here to the US. The US citizen spouse finds the commutations, or one day they get into an argument and he says "I never loved you" and tells her about his other family.

You asked a Nigerian-mentality based question, which is why Nigerians attract negative attention to themselves. How you do things in Nigeria is irrelevant to what USCIS demands of you. What you described is neither a valid marriage nor a valid divorce, if you presented it to USCIS, you would have no success because it has no validity -- this is a Nigerian mentality of trying to circumvent the law or policy with nonsensicality, it doesn't work here. Dealing with immigration or obtaining visa from the American Embassy is easy, just pay attention to what they ask of you, comply strictly to it, and you will obtain a positive result easily. Going corner-corner and wuru-wuru is why most of you get into trouble.

Jim, getting a passport from my country is so hard here at the embassy in DC. They say a lot of Nigerians have tried to get passports from my country in Southern Africa, so getting my passport was a horrible ordeal. I had to go to DC in person and SPEAK my mother language to prove I was born in my country. They specifically told me they had Nigerians making fraudulent passports using our country. It was a bad experience that took over 9 months!! I paid for hotel, flights and on top of it all, I got stranded in DC because of a hurricane.
