Same! It was when watching sao listening to kirito that i first thought “i want to marry his voice” (yes, the voice! not the va 🤣) i was 11 years old then and started my spiral into the voice acting hole
It's good to know people have interest in this serious part too There are talks about why he became a seiyuu but I didn't know if people were interested so I didn't do it yet
@@poyossubs8790 pretty sure a lot are interested in these kinds of topics. As I previously mentioned, it's always refreshing to hear seiyuu stories about their turning points and also their humble beginnings.
There was a clip on their "soul's colour" for a SAO radio show and Matsuoka let known that he held onto grudges and used that energy to channel a character's anger iirc ruclips.net/video/c0iFU4wo4-w/видео.html
I always felt like Matsuoka delivered his 200% in everything he does, partly, as a way to overcome his social anxiety (the script anecdote kinda illustrate it). I really admire this man, because the seiyuu industry is an incredible social job, and he -instead of quitting-, is literally facing his fears directly, he's an example of personal improvement, and I really respect that.
I love the anecdotes other seiyuu have told where they saw Matsuoka before a recording pumping himself up whispering things like "Relax, you can do it, you can do it" or slapping himself on the cheeks quite hard. He really tries, it's very commendable how he fights with his anxiety for the sake of his work. And then he delivers those energetic and amazing performances...just wow.
Kirito & Asuna, the first anime couple and probably my first anime, that I watched back in the day. He (Matsuoka-san) was also the reason I got so curious to know how do they voice act it out, I wanted to know everything. He'll always be a special person in my heart. Thank you for uploading this clip, Poyo.
I'm glad Matsuoka got the main role, it was like a turning point in his life! Also meeting Kayanon xD Pretending to check script huh... It has the same energy as checking phone, and pretending to be busy lol
Truly a great story, and one that I have heard echoed from Erica Lindbeck and people who have been on either side of the audition table for opera. It's really competitive, so the candidates really need to show their personalized take on the character. In any case, as a classical musician I've reflected a lot on the state of my field and conclude that what the audience needs in any case is for the person, the real person doing the performance, to show a part of that same real person through the performance, even if it's a character that is rather opposite to his/her nature. Moreover, that the performer will not find satisfaction in the work without this same connection to the real. Therefore we would be hard pressed to ask for a better Kirito, and we have the panel to thank for their good sense in picking the guy who decided to do it from who he truly was.
Interesting that normally, it's the anime that made me interested in the seiyuu. Right now, I'm planning to watch SAO just because I've been watching a lot of Matsuoka's content lol.
2011 is turning point for both Tsugu and Kayanon. Tsugu with SAO and Kayano with Anohana. And in 2012 they won best rookie actor/actress in seiyuu award. So thats why GET MARRIED ALREADY YOU TWOOO
@@ExcelonTheFourthAvalonHeirs Before they met in Sakurasou, there was Kamimemo. That was also the first time Matsuoka-san voiced a lead character alongside Ogura Yui-san.

Kirito the one who introduced me to voice acting world, and become Tsugu-Tsugu fan since then.
Probably same here
I actually thought it was a little earlier than 2012

am i the only one who loves his acting in campione better than sao and maybe ngnl
yo can u send the link to ur pfp it’s so cute

I do that a lot
@@poyossubs8790 We all do that, a lot
Brings me back to the time I was looking at his MAL page and there was like only 3 roles there. He has really come a long way
I really don't think any other person could have been Kirito. And he committed even to side events, game recordings, mobile games, etc....
Still so happy for Tsugu Tsugu, he has come such a long way! He is still one of my favorite seiyuus ever! Thank you for subbing!
i still feel amazed that someone like matsuoka chose a job that makes him to be pretty social and talk a lot in public...
It's kinda crazy if you think about it.
10 years is no small number
There should be an anime on seiyuu growth. I love hearing stories like this
Try out Sore ga Seiyuu

Great video! Thanks for translating it! Matsuoka Yoshitsugu is my favorite voice actor and Kirito is my favorite character in SAO :)
Im glad Yoshigitsu got the role of kirito He just fits the role. He isn't too good not too bad either just absolute perfection:)

Only kayano ai knows her husband story😍
I liked that part too!
and she says
"I think it`s okay to tell, right?"
she has the control ww
I wonder who else was auditioning for Kirito, what "big names" were there. Sadly these things are usually not discussed openly by the seiyuu.
There were 3 finalists, him, zakki (shimazaki nobunaga), and one last guy
Zakki tsugu talk about it in another video poyo uploaded
@@katsuragikeima8809 I remember that video, didn't remember the casting was for Kirito

Sora and shiro being intimate to each other
Inosuke and Kirito are both dual wielding swordsman.
Coincidence? I think so
First anime i notice him was Campione! but then realized he was that pervertic priest from Highschool DxD..
Zhong li, xiao and the person that cannot join GI circle T....T
Imagine leaving in a world where matsuoka didn't become the Harem God? Ugh that would be horrible
and then he got typecasted into that kind of character ever since

Dad (zhongli) and son (xiao) on a radio lmao
And then he keep getting harem main characters
Zhongli and Xiao? Hmmm
